Since that day that I noticed Liam Payne, I would notice him more. I couldn’t get him out of my head. He was cute, and strong, and fit, and the list goes on. I didn’t care that he was a bad boy, I wanted him. Maybe he would change me or break me or screw me up, but I had a feeling that would be all worth it.
“Amber?” Dillian waved a hand in front of my face.
“Huh?” I looked at him, coming out of my daydreaming.
“I said, what would you like for your birthday?” he went back to the paper that our teacher had handed out. It was supposed to be done by the end of class, but I never finished anything.
“I don’t know. Maybe just a gift card or something small. I don’t need anything too special.” I said, trying to answer the question on the paper.
What is x-y equivalent to?
I didn’t know. I didn’t pay attention in math class at all. Usually I would sleep through it, since it was mostly lectures. If a day like today, where Mrs. Jones handed a paper out, Dillian would wake me up.
I jotted down an answer that I thought was right. I new I would probably get it wrong since I hadn’t paid attention, but I didn’t care. My grades sucked anyways. Why try and raise them when it would be no use.
The bell rang signaling that the period was over.
“Please pass in your papers. They will be handed back and graded by tomorrow.” Mrs. Jones announced.
I collected my things, checking my phone in the midst. I don’t know why, but I always have a feeling that someone texted me. Although I have no one in my contacts except my mom, Dillian, and a few other family members.
As I expected, no one did.
I was the last one out of the class so my paper was the last one in the pile. Mrs. Jones noticed it.
I turned around, knowing she would question why I didn’t finish.
“Why didn’t you complete you paper?” she asked. I was right.
“I didn’t have the time. Ill finish it for homework if you like.” I tried to be a kiss up when I could.
“Usually I would say that’s fine, but you never finish. I would like you to stay after with me. I wont classify it as a detention, although you will be with the detention students. I have detention watch today.” Mrs. Jones smiled.
“Okay. Ill be here.”
“Thank you Amber.”
I sighed and walked out of the classroom. Another afternoon spent with some people who thought I was a freak. How wonderful!

I walked into Mrs. Jone’s room, smiling at her as I went to my usual seat in the back. I sat down, me being the first one there I checked my phone. No one texted me. I texted my mom to let her know I’d be home late.
Mom: Why? Did something happen?
Me: I needed to finish some work. Can you pick me up @ 3:30?
Mom: I wont be home. Sorry sweetie. Maybe someone can give you a ride? :)
Me: with this group of delinquents? I think not ;) Ill walk, don’t worry.
I put my phone back into my backpack. People were coming in now, all the usuals. I didn’t care about any of them. I watched as everyone took their seats, probably their usual seats.
My heart stopped when he came in, Liam. I could feel my face heat up so I decided to get my homework. As I reached down to get it out of my bag, I saw a pair of boots coming towards me. I looked up, brushing a piece of hair behind my ears. It was Liam.
Why was he coming back here?
He sat down in the seat next to me, keeping his eyes on me.
Why would he sit next to me?
He kept looking at me as I did my homework. I could feel my face heat up.
“Why are you looking at me?” I asked, returning a stare towards him.
“You are interesting to look at.” He replied, his voice deep and sexy.
“Is that a compliment or are you trying to piss me off?” I replied. I was confident, really confident. I would never do this, talk to someone with attitude and sass, that wasn’t Dillian or someone I knew.
“Are you trying to flirt with me?” he was. I could so tell. Even though no one ever did flirt with me, I knew what flirting was. I had studied how girls would flirt with Dillian sometimes. This was definitely flirting.
“I AM flirting with you. Not just trying.” He smiled after he said that.
I blushed. No one has ever flirted with me and I didn’t know how to flirt back. I never did. No guy ever talked to me that I thought was cute.
“Well, thank you for the compliment.” I said and focused back on my homework.
I went through most of the problems with ease, but down towards the bottom it got harder. I didn’t want to get up and ask the teacher for help, not in front of these people. I sighed, putting my pencil down. I gave up. I had 15 minutes and those 15 minutes were going to be spent doodling on my paper.
“Do you need help?” Liam asked me.
I looked at him. Did he really get this stuff? He was probably just trying to impress me.
“Yes.” I said, sighing as I looked down at my paper.
Liam scooted his desk closer to me. He was barely a foot away. I could feel his breath on my hand. Oh god, I was blushing again.
“Okay, so to find out what x is, you cant.”
He helped me out for the rest of the 15 minutes. At the end my paper was finished and I handed into Mrs. Jones. She smiled and asked if that was so bad.
I smiled back and headed for the door, Liam right behind me.
“Whats your name?” Liam asked, walking beside me.
“Pretty, I’m Liam.” He said.
“I know.” Oh god why did I say that? My face blushed. “I mean, you do have a reputation around here..” I looked up at him. He was smirking.
We walked to the front door. I opened it and stepped outside. It was cold and I had to walk home. Fun.
“See ya.” I said starting to walk towards the road.
“Do you have a ride?” Liam asked.
If he asked if I want a ride I’m going to die.
“No. Its okay though.” I said turning to continue walking.
“Would you like a ride?” He asked.
I have died. “No its fine! Seriously.”
“No, Amber. Its freezing out here and I don’t think you live anywhere close. It’s not bother to me.”
“Are you sure?”
“Amber you know you want a ride. Just get in.” Liam said smiling. He had such a cute smile!
“Okay.” I turned around, walking to him. I followed him to his car and got in. It smelt like cologne and cigarette smoke. Did he smoke. “Do you smoke?”
“Sometimes, it helps me get de-stressed.” He said.
Liam started the car and drove in silence, the only things that were said was when I would tell him where to go.
We pulled up to my house 10 minutes later. I picked up my bag, making sure I had everything, and reached for the door.
“Thank you.” I smiled at him and opened the door.
“Anytime, heres my number.” Liam handed me a card. When did he write this? “Call me if you need anything okay?”
“Okay. Bye.” I closed the door and walked to my house, Liam staying in the driveway. I opened the door, turning around to wave before I went in.
I just got a ride from Liam Payne.
