Suddenly, I felt a pair of lips onto me.
On reflex, I pushed Chase away.
"What the fuck?" I screamed.
He wiped his lips, "Wait."
He suddenly stood up and, again, for probably the millionth time checked outside.
"He's gone." He whispered.
Getting really ticked off, I snapped. "Who's gone?"
I widened my eyes. How did Chase know he was here. "H-how.."
He brightened the lights and unlocked the door, "He was obviously there."
"So that's why you kissed me." I smirked, knowing where he is going.
He took a sit on the edge of the bed. "Yup, I'm wondering. What will he do? What can he do?"
He laughed. "I've thought about that, Nat. But really, what can he really do to Emily? Kidnap her?"
My lips were closed still.
"He's a teacher, for god's sake. He has to keep up to his reputation. We could show the notes, the messages to the police and get him caught. We could go now. So really, what can he really do to Emily?"
He makes sense. "You're right."
"And he made it seem like he control our lives. I'm guessing he has something to do with you, that you're not telling. I mean, if you were to tell-"
I sighed and cut him off. "I can't."
He looked at me, with such care and honesty.
"I really can't, I'm sorry."
He understood what I meant, and let me be.
"Anyway, I'm sorry for kissing you all of the sudden."
I giggled. "It sure wasn't weird at all."
He smiled. "You know, let's bring these to the police."
But before he could do anything, I grabbed his shirt.
I smirked. "If he wants to play, we'll play. Would be boring if the game ends too soon."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, we'll go with his flow. It'll all crash on him sooner or later, right?"
He fake gasped. "You're right."
It has to. It has to crash on him.
The pause led to an awkward silence.
He then started a new conversation.
"You know, I can see it in his eyes."
I looked at him. Eyes? "What do you mean?"
"I can see it, that somewhere inside them, he cares for you, you know."
"Are you saying-"
He took a hold on my hand. "If you're ready to tell me anything, let me know."
He winked, before standing up, getting ready to leave, before, again, I stopped him.
I sighed, this could be the moment of truth. The moment where I tell everything.
I patted on the bed, hinting him to take a seat.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
He kept his silence, making me a bit nervous. Would he judge me? Would my best friend judge me?
"It was probably a few years ago. Adam, was my best friend."
He coughed. "You were friends with him?"
I hit him, "Don't cut me off. I'm getting to it."
He nodded, apologizing.
"Yes, I was friends with Adam. We were, well you can say, quite close. We would hang out together and do what you and I are doing now. Simply saying, best friends. It went on like that, for about a year. Then my dad died. And as you can guess, now, I have a step dad. Right after my dad died, under suspicious circumstances, Adam started to ignore me."
His eyes were glimmering, which somehow made me smile.
"Sooner later, he would start to use me."
Chase gasped. "Use?"
I nodded. "He would constantly bully me. Torment me, and sometimes hit me. A typical bully. I was sick of it, so I suggested to my parents that we should move. They agreed, since we stayed there for quite a while. The day before I moved, he tricked me into going to his house for the last time. As you would probably think, he would apologize to me or do anything similar to that shit, he didn't. He still picked on me. But that very day, his constant bully, was at a whole new level. Harassment. Sexual harassment."
He widened his eyes in awe and shock. "..sexual harassment."
I smiled, tears were forming in my eyes.
Without me noticing, Chase slit his thumb under my eyes.
I stayed quiet.
Without warning, he hugged me.
"It's okay, Natara. Stop crying."
With him saying that, I sobbed harder.
"Emily and I will protect you." He whispered in my ear, comforting me.
"You know.." He drifted off, letting me go.
I looked at him. Know what?
"I have a feeling Adam heard our conversation."
