I heard about the party after what happened at school today. Once I left the auditorium a couple of girls were standing by my locker. One of them was Brianna. She's known around the school for sleeping with just about every guy except me and my friends.
"Hey Luke." Brianna gave me a sly smile before leaning on the lockers. I didn't want to be rude so I replied back.
"Hey. What's going on?"
"Well there's this party later on tonight. You should come. It'll be fun." She tells me.
"Okay. I'll see you there." I watch as she and her friends walk off laughing and talking about random stuff.
My eyes scanned over all the people crowded in the house. It felt like the entire grade showed up and it was totally packed.
I managed to get past everyone and got to the kitchen. I grabbed a beer and took a long sip. It felt good but I'll know I'll regret it in the morning.
"Luke you came!" I snapped my head around to see that Brianna was right behind me.
"Ya it seemed like fun." I told her. She smiles before grabbing my hand. "Let's go dance." She starts dragging me to the middle of the house where people were dancing.
It was actually quite fun. We were just goofing around. It reminded me and Emily and how we'd used to have a good time.
I tried to not think about Emily. It just hurt a lot when my mind went to her. I never wanted us to end like that.
My mind was totally gone so I didn't notice Brianna leaning in for a kiss. When our lips touched I was in total shock. I pulled away but then someone got in between Brianna and I.
"Get the fuck off my boyfriend." Emily screeched. Her face was bright red as she stared down at Brianna. Brianna just laughed.
"Boyfriend? He broke up with you remember? In front of everyone. He's not your boyfriend anymore so I can kiss him as much as I want."
Emily still stood her ground as she shock her head. "I'm not moving."
"You're drunk. Get out of my face." Brianna spits. She roughly pushes Emily to the side and that's when everything sinks in. I manage to catch Emily before she hits the ground.
"Are you alright?" I ask with a stutter. Emily's still holding onto my shoulders as she nods.
"I-I'm fine. Thanks."
"I should take you home. You are really drunk." I tell her. She nods again before I start leading her out of the party.
We walk silently to my car before taking a seat.
"I probably shouldn't drive. We can walk to my place since it's closer."
We start walking down the dimly lit streets. The silence is killing me. The guilt is starting to sink in and I can't take it.
"Why are you being so nice to me?" Emily looks at me with soft eyes. I shrug. "I guess I'm just tired of being mad at everyone. Especially at you."
"You're not mad at me?"
"Let's talk about this tomorrow. I don't want you forgetting about this."
