"Jealousy keeps containing me. In time you'll see just what we could be." I sang the lyrics of 'Too Late' as the boys and I were recording a cover for our youtube channel. Ever since I saw Emily with Brad I just can't get that image out of my head. What could they've been doing behind those doors? Did she cheat on me?
"But I'm always too late. I'm always too late. I see you but I always hesitate." I try to focus on the lyrics but as I sing I get madder and madder. Did Emily even care about our relationship? How could she ever go back to the guy that hurt her so much?
"Cause I'm always too late don't wanna be too late. To have you by my side and I can't wait. Cause never is too late."
I stop playing my guitar as my thoughts consume me. How could she betray me like that? She was acting like everything was okay just before she left because all she ever does is act. She's not real.
"Luke? Why'd you stop playing?" Calum and the rest of the boys stare at me I confusion.
"Uh, sorry. Just have a lot on my mind."
"I guess we can take a break then." Ashton tells us. I nod and take a seat alone. I watch as the boys talk about songs and other things that has to do with the band but I'm not focused on that. I stare aimlessly at the ceiling until I hear her voice.
"Hey, mum made you guys some lunch." Emily walks in with a tray of food and puts it on the table. The boys go ahead and get some food but I decide not to. I stare at Emily waiting for her to catch my eye. When she finally does she comes over and hands me a sandwich.
"Here, it's ham." She tosses the wrapped sandwich in my lap and takes a seat beside me.
"How are you feeling." I ask carefully.
She shrugs. "Better I guess."
"You just went home then?" I question. I glare at her but she doesn't seem to notice.
"Yep, went right home and took a nap."
"I have a question."
"What's your question?" She asks.
"Let's say hypothetically, that you were hiding something big from me. Would you tell me?"
Emily blinks a couple times before clearing her throat. "Yes, of course."
"Good. I have this friend and he's really worried that his girlfriend is cheating on him and he was asking for advice."
"How can he tell?"
"Well for starters, she's been acting differently around everyone especially towards him. She makes excuses to get out of situations and once he actually caught her." This was all bullshit. There was no "friend" of mine that was having the exact same problems as me. I'm just trying to make Emily feel a bit guilty so she might tell me the truth.
"So what happened at the end?" Emily's now staring at her hands. She looks a little pale too.
"Is everything alright over there? You look a bit pale Emily." Cal asks her from across the room.
"I-I need to go to the washroom." She quickly gets up but I catch her wrist.
"He just wanted the truth. That's all." I let go of her arm but she's still standing there. I can tell that's figured out what I did. The guilt is written all over her face.
"Luke, I can explain—"
I raise my hand. "Save it. I already know what's going on." I hand her back the sandwich and as I walk by her I say something.
"I hope it was worth hurting us to meet him."
I grab my guitar and backpack from the floor and tell the boys that I'm heading out. I get to my car and put my guitar and backpack in the trunk. When I close the door Emily is standing in front of my car.
"Luke you have to let me explain."
I can't help but roll my eyes. "Why do you need to explain? You cheated on me! And not even with a decent guy. You cheated on me with Brad! The guy who you let abuse you numerous times. Honestly I don't need an explanation for that."
Emily stares at me in shock as tears roll down her face. "I-It wasn't like that. Just calm down and let me tell you the truth."
"Like I said before, I don't need an explanation. I don't want the truth. You've lost your chance to be truthful with me. Now I just want to go home."
"Luke please." She walks towards me but I take a step back. I look towards the garage to see the boys coming out. When they notice us they start walking over.
"What's going on?" Calum stands beside Emily. When he sees that she's crying he flips.
"What the hell did you do to my sister Luke?" He takes a stand in front of her as if he's defending her.
"I didn't do anything wrong. Why don't you ask your sister what's the matter."
"Emily, why are you crying?" Calum turns to her. She wipes her tears away and looks past Calum over at me.
"He's right. Luke didn't do anything wrong." She walks around Calum and stand before me.
"The next morning after your party I was throwing some garbage away. I was about to come back inside but someone stopped me. It was Brad. He told me that he was sorry about what happened at the party and he apologized for everything else. Then he kissed me."
"Did you kiss him back?" That's all I wanted to know.
"Yes but it didn't mean anything. That's why I left school that day. I talked to Brad and told him how guilty that kiss made me feel. I didn't want to hurt you Luke. It was never like that. I didn't go over to see Brad to cheat on you. I just wanted some closer."
"Well here's my closer, I'm done with you. Forget about us alright? I can't even trust you anymore."
"I thought you wanted the truth?"
"I did but now I just want to be alone."
