Harry entered the Knight Bus cautiously. The triple Decker bus had numerous beds scattered among the floors instead of seats. The bus seemed to be unoccupied besides a balding wizard in the corner. Every few seconds he would emit a large snore that echoed throughout the bus.
"Sit down you!" Stan said coming up behind Harry. Harry quickly took a seat on the nearest bed.
"Take it away Ernie." Stand said rapping on the glass that separated the bed area from the driver. Ernie, a white haired wizard with black circular glasses promptly set the bus in gear. The speed caught Harry off guard.
Harry hit the glass window in front of him while Stan chuckled.
"Never taken the Knight Bus eh?" He asked. Harry shook his head.
"What was your name?" Stan asked.
Harry thought quickly, made sure his bangs covered his scar, and said the first name that was in his brain, "Neville Longbottom."
"Neville eh, whatcho doing travelling alone at this time of night?" Stan asked.
"Going to the Leaky Cauldron, that's in London." Harry replied.
Stan laughed and banged on the glass again, "'Er that Ern? 'The Leaky Cauldron that's in London.'" Stan shook his head at Harry's words. He took a paper from the window still and turned to a few pages in. A picture of a screaming man faced Harry.
"Who's that?" He asked Stan.
Stan looked shocked, "Whois that? Whois that?" pointing at the picture, "That is Sirius Black that is." Stan leaned forward and continued in a whisper, "He used to be a big support of...You-Know-Who, reckon you've 'eard of him?"
Harry looked out the window past Stan, "Yeah, him I've heard of." The Knight bus sped off and there were two busses side by side.
Ernie pulled a trigger and Harry felt himself being squished. The Knight bus was as flat as a pancake, squeezing in between the two busses. The passengers of both busses didn't seem to notice a third had squeezed it'self between them. Soon the Knight bus was flying again through the streets. Harry was just getting used to the fast and jerky movements when Ernie slammed on the breaks for a second time.
Harry flew into the window again.
"Leaky Cauldron!" Stan announced.
Harry saw a rather old bald man, who said "Ah, Mr. Potter, at last!"
Harry stepped out of the Knight Bus carefully. He recognized the man as the Minister for Magic and knew he had been caught.
"Harry m'boy! Good to see you!" Cornelius Fudge said brightly, springing forward to shake Harry's hand.
"Y-you too Minister." Harry said warily. He heard Stan huffing and puffing as he unloaded Harry's trunk and moved to go get it.
"Ah never mind that, Tom the barman can help Stan there. Come inside. Quickly now!" The Minister said in a rush. He quickly corralled Harry off the street and into the Leaky Cauldron.
"Soup, Harry?" The Minister asked. Harry shook his head. "Well, your room is ready, your owl is in your room and all of your books are with your owl!" The Minister announced.
"But sir," Harry objected, "I broke the law!"
"Nonsense Harry! The Ministry doesn't send kids to Azkaban for blowing up their Aunts!" The Minister exclaimed, "Though, you running away with Sirius Black on the loose, however, was not a great idea! Now off to bed, Tom will take you to your room! TOM!!"
Tom lead a very confused Harry to his room. He saw a pile of book on a small dresser and Hedwig furiously pecking at her cage.
"Sorry Hedwig, but I can't let you out, I don't want to push it." Harry said. Suddenly Harry was thrown off balance as a great force hit him from behind.
"HARRY!" Harry turned around to see Scarlett standing behind him looking sheepishly at the ground. She smiled at him, "So I MAY have missed you a little" She held two fingers about an inch apart. Harry gave her a look. "Ok so I missed you a lot!"
"Yeah, I can tell!" Harry said, getting up, "Considering you wouldn't leave me alone over the summer." Scarlett shrugged her shoulders. "Its SO lonely!" She exclaimed, "Remus is awesome and all, but he's too busy trying to find a job!"
"That's terrible! Maybe he can talk to Mr. Weasley about a job in the Ministry?" Harry asked.
Scarlett shook her head, "Nah they won't take him. They don't like people like him" Her eyes widened like she said too much and clamped her mouth shut.
"People like him? What do you mean?" Harry asked.
Scarlett wouldn't budge, "Nothing, nothing at all!" She waved her hand, "Anyyyways he found a job, so we're all good!"
"Awesome! Where?" Harry asked. Scarlett didn't reply and instead skipped over to his stack of book.
"Ouuu this one looks interesting!" She said pointing at a book that looked like it had fangs and beady little eyes.
"Care for Magical Creatures Textbook." She said out loud. Harry came over and took the book, undoing the belt that was attached to it.
The book started to clamp its pages together automatically! Harry leaped on his bed as the book leaped toward Scarlett.
She rolled to the side and stroked the book's spine with her index finger. The book stopped moving.
"How did you do that?" Harry asked, climbing down from the bed. "That's how you control animals or monsters, you stroke their spine!" She said.
"Oh yes, silly me. That's just common sense" Harry said rolling his eyes.
"Whatever Harry. Let's go downstairs and explore!" Scarlett said. Harry followed his twin sister out of the room wondering what mischief they would get themselves into this time.
