When the group landed, they found themselves on a deserted beach, a small cottage nestled on a cliff above them.
“Welcome to Shell Cottage” Fred told them. The group walked up the shore to the quaint cottage. Fred and George immediately walked into the cottage and was greeted by a group of voices. Holly was about to follow when she heard a distant sound carried by the wind. She looked around and saw a figure throwing rocks into the ocean on the cliff. She approached the figure cautiously and saw it was Harry. She stood a few feet behind him, so as not to startle him.
“Hey” she said quietly. Harry stopped flinging rocks and turned to meet Holly’s eyes. She could see hurt in his, like he had been through a great battle and a war was raging behind his poker-face expression.
“Hey” he replied. Holly moved to stand beside him and stared out at the ocean.
“It’s beautiful here.” Holly said
“It’s beautiful and peaceful, a perfect resting spot” Holly turned to Harry at his words.
“What happened Harry?” Holly asked softly. He sighed and told her what had happened in the forest, Malfoy Manor and the events that happened afterwards. He told her that Voldemort had the Elder Wand, which was a Deathly Hallow.
“Yes, I learned about the Deathly Hallows too. Do you think your cloak is-“ Harry’s nod cut her sentence off. Harry also told her about the locket and the sword of Gryffindor, the trio’s assumption that another Horcrux was in Bellatrix’s Gringotts vault. This made Holly thinking of the Lost Diadem of Ravenclaw. She was just about to tell Harry what she had found out when Fleur’s voice called them into the house.
“’olly!” Fleur said as Holly entered the house, “Thank goodness you’re alright! When they said they didn’t know what happened to you we were so worried!” Holly reassured Fleur that she was fine and explained what had happened. The group soon disbanded for the night and earned a good night’s rest.
The next morning, Holly awoke from her place on the living room couch to the sound of Fred’s snores. He and George had shared the furniture in the living room with Holly for the night. They had graciously let Holly take the couch. The long twins were sprawled out on the two arm chairs that were left over. Holly got up and kicked Fred’s food slightly to get him to shut up.
“G’mornin to you too” he grumbled. Soon everyone in the house was awake and set about their day. That afternoon while Holly was helping Fleur in the kitchen she heard Harry, Ron and Hermione exit Ollivander’s room. The wand maker had been held captive at the Malfoy’s along with Luna and the goblin, Griphook. Remembering Ollivander’s age, she excused herself from the kitchen to talk to him.
Holly knocked quietly on the wandmaker’s door and heard a faint ‘enter’. She walked into the room to see the wizened old wizard sitting on his bed looking at the ocean from the window.
“Mr. Ollivander?” Holly asked.
The wizard turned to Holly and smiled when he saw her, “Ah Ms. Potter, I was wondering when I would get the pleasure to meet you” The wandmaker had been put on bed-rest by Fleur to recover from his torturing.
“Yes I’m sorry I didn’t come sooner, I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t overtire you by answering my questions” Holly replied.
“Ask away my dear” was the reply
“Well, I was wondering if you’ve ever heard about where the Lost Diadem from Ravenclaw was suspected to be hidden” Holly asked, “Apparently it’s somewhere in Albania?”
Mr. Ollivander looked at Holly thoughtfully then said, “Yes, in a forest near a small town called Zall-Bastar. The hiding place would have left magical remnants that you can follow.” He smiled at Holly, “Please be careful my dear, many have tried to find it and failed. The terrain is desolate and barren. Many experienced wizards have been careless in their preparation and have died of hunger and dehydration. Good luck.”
Holly shook the wandmaker’s hand and quickly left the room. She immediately knew what she had to do. Holly whistled for Gryphon who was lounging by the back door. Holly slipped quietly out of the cottage without detection and started walking to the Cliffside where she wouldn’t be seen. She walked a few hundred feet and looked back once more at the tiny cottage in the distance. Dusk had fallen upon them and the bright light from the windows made Holly wish she hadn’t left. The ocean sprayed up cold water and the winds on the cliffside made it damp and miserable. Holly quickly found a windbreaker from her clutch and put it on.
“Ready for another adventure?” Holly asked Gryphon looking down at him. He gave a quick bark of approval and put his front legs on Holly’s arms, ready to Apparate. He quickly looked back at the cottage and then gave Holly a quizzical look.
“We can’t tell them where we’re going buddy, they’ll want to come and it could be dangerous. I’m expendable; no one knows another Potter exists.” She answered him.
Holly took in a deep breath and braced herself to Apparate. Before she could complete the turning motion, her body suddenly froze and she fell towards the ground. She saw the rock of the cliff rush up to meet her. Inches away from impact a pair of strong hands caught her and placed her in a standing position. She heard a few muttered words and realized she could move again. Holly spun around, wand drawn to see who had done that to her. She was greeted with two very cheeky smiles from two smug looking red-haired twins.
“You gits!” Holly exclaimed.
George held up his hands, “Whoa tiger, retract the claws.”
“Yeah, all we were doing was taking a little stroll through the cliffside and saw you and your pooch ready to disappear so we thought we deserved an explanation why.” Fred added smirking at Holly.
“That’s really none of your business” Holly said, turning her heel on the twins, “C’mon Gryphon.” She waited for a few moments then turned when she saw that Gryphon had not come to her side.
“You little traitor!” Holly exclaimed when she saw Gryphon sitting between the twins wagging his tail.
“As you can see, he’s on our side missy.” George said patting Gryphon lovingly.
“Alright, alright, it’s your funeral” Holly said sighing in defeat. Both twins smiled gleefully and clapped their hands. Holly filled them in on her plans to travel abroad.
“So this little bit of travelling has to do with…?” Fred asked inquiringly.
“Maybe the same sort of thing Harry, Ron and Hermione are focusing their attention on?” George asked.
“These are my conditions if you come with me” Holly said, ignoring their questions and holding up a finger, “One: I’ll tell you ask much as I think you should know so you’re not in danger” Fred and George both opened their mouths to disagree, Holly ignored them again and held up a second finger, “Two: If I tell you to go home, you do it with no disagreements,” She held up a third finger, rolling her eyes at the looks on their faces, “and Three: you can’t tell anyone what we’re doing, this is completely secret. Capisce?”
The twins thought for a few moments then grudgingly agreed.
“You speak Italian?” Fred asked with a tone of surprise
At this Holly laughed. “There are a lot of things you don’t know about me” she told the twins with a wink.
“Well” George said grasping one of Holly’s arms, “we’ll have plenty of time to learn all about them”
Fred and Gryphon also latched onto Holly and the group disappeared into the darkness of the cliffside.
