A Vision's Secrets
“HOLD ON! What?!” I was shocked to hear this.
“Do you love-
“I know what you said Sarah. I don’t even know this guy and how can I be in love with him if I don’t even know his name?”
“Well, I can tell by the way you’re blushing you have a crush on this dreamboat.” I feel my face quickly getting warm. Shoot. “You have a boyfriend!” Sarah shouted quietly.
“We’ll talk about this after school. Okay? You better not start any rumors.”
“Sarah, I’m serious.”
“I’m joking. I promise I won’t.” After that Mrs. Maddene and everyone in class said their goodbyes, the bell rung, we shouted, ‘SUMMER!!’ and left.
As soon as I got home, my parents were waiting for me in the living room. “Diana, how was your last day of school?” My dad said as I put down my backpack.
“It was great I guess…”
“Honey you’re usually excited after school ends what’s up?”
“I just have a lot on my mind…I’m going to my room to think. Tell me when dinner is ready. Oh, Chelsea and Sarah are coming over for a sleepover tonight.”
“Well, okay…talk to us if anything troubles you.”
“Thanks dad. You too mom. Oh by the way, I signed up for that summer program thing.” As soon as I left I knew they had joy written across their faces. It was probably true because I could hear them jumping up and down.
NANANANANANABATMAN! NANANA- “Hello?” I answered. Yes, that was my ringtone.
“Oh hey Diana! It’s Chelsea. I was wondering what time you want us over.”
“You guys can come over after dinner. Oh and bring your sleeping bags.”
“Ah, we’re having one of our famous sleepovers. Alright then. I’ll just text Sarah about it. See you later.”
“Bye!” As I hang up I get another vision. It’s dinnertime. Dad and I look like we’re starving. Mom serves us ham, mashed potatoes, and green beans.
“It’s dinnertime! Diana, it's dinnertime! DIANA!” I end up back in my room but my mom is in here with me. “Diana did you have another one of your visions? I've been calling your name for 5 minutes.”
“Yeah sorry mom I thought I could control it this time.”
“It’s alright dear, it’s not your fault. You hungry?”
“Yeah I am! What are we having tonight?”
“Italian. Why? You know we always have Italian food after school ends.”
“I was just wondering…” Weird. Normally I have the vision correct…What’s happening to me? Eh…I'll think about it after dinner. I head to the dining room where I find a bowl of fresh bread sticks, salad, pasta and pizza. Mom outdid herself every time school ended.
After stuffing my face at dinner, my dad left to his office to work on some new designs for a new restaurant that’s opening up in a couple of years. That’s a long wait. My mom decided to call her friends and go out tonight since she didn't want to disturb my sleepover. “Okay Diana, you know the drill. If you need anything call me or your dad. Have fun sweetheart!”
“Okay mom. You have fun too!” She left and within a few minutes my best friends arrived.
"DIANA!" They both exclaimed.
"I'm glad you guys came!"
"Well duh! What else were we supposed to do on a Friday night?"
"So, what do you guys want to do?"
"Well, Chelsea, I think Diana has some explaining to do."
"Oh, okay. Let's get some snacks first."
"I thought you already ate."
"Yeah I did eat, Sarah. I thought the stories from my visions could use some popcorn."
"Caramel corn? Do you still have some leftover from that fair?" Chelsea loves caramel corn, even though it gets stuck in her teeth.
So I told them everything about the vision. Every single detail. Sarah already knew about it. I even showed Chelsea the sketch. “Wow, if this had color, it would be like actually meeting him in person. Diana, do you even know his name?”
“Nope, not a clue. I was hoping it would come to me in another vision.”
Sarah hesitated then said, “Don’t you get these in your dreams too?”
“Yeah, but something weird happened today.”
“Define at what time it was weird. It seems like your whole day was strange.”
“Well, I had another vis-”
“DON’T TELL ME!! IT WAS YOUR LOVER!!”
“Well sorry Chelsea, but it had to be right?”
“Not even close.”
“I had a vision that it was dinnertime. My mom made ham, mashed potatoes, and green beans. But after my mom brought me back to reality she cooked Italian for dinner.”
“Whoa that’s strange! What do you think Chelsea?”
“To be honest, I don’t know. Has this ever happened to you Diana?”
“Well, no. I’m not sure what to believe in anymore. My visions might just become daydreams.”
“Hold on, Sarah what did Mr. Ellison say in psychology about dreams?”
“He said that dreams are projections of the mind. Anything suppressed, though of or has occurred in the day can appear in your dreams.”
“Hmm…that sounds like that might be the answer. Maybe my mom is giving us that dinner some other time.”
“That’s a possibility. Let’s move on from this topic though. Did you guys hear about that senior prank?” said Sarah.
“OMG! YES! Some guy poured tire shine all over the floor near the pool. Didn't he get suspended because at least 7 people slipped and got injured?” I said.
“Oh yeah, I heard about that. A lot of kids in my history class were talking about it. I think he got arrested. He was where the tire shine was poured and kept laughing every time someone slipped. It was obvious that it was him. The cops showed up and he shouted, ‘YOU’LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE COPPERS!!’ and ironically he slipped in the tire shine and fell.” The three of us were dying of laughter. Later, we decided to watch a movie marathon. We just hung out every day until the day of the trip.
