2. My History

As we walked back to the camp I couldn't help feeling like we were being watched, I knew Strong could sense it too his fur was up right just like the time we had first met. It was years ago but I still remember it like it was yesterday and I know Strong does too...

A tall skinny girl stands at the top of a hill with two twins beside her, the twins are identical in every way; their cold glare, their icy smile and their black skin but the girl they stood beside was worse. As black as night her dark hair flew behind her in rage her eyes burned the back of hell to ashes and her smile froze the arctic. Her voice flew across the hills like a desert fire "That's right Elisa run home to mummy, oh wait you don't have one. You’re not normal. You’re nothing. I hope you die out there in the Sahara!" A small white girl with sunshine hair fled from the voices tears flooded her face like the sun floods the desert. She was fast. She ran. After what seemed like miles to the small girl she came to a large lake where she saw elephants crossing the river and giraffes munching the trees, then she saw them... The prowled like wolves, they looked as beautiful as heaven but so deadly... Lions! What if they caught her scent? The young girl grabbed the dust and leaves from her feet and scrunched it up in front of her the wind carried the musty scent towards the lions. She was clever she hoped that the mustiness of the leaves would cover he scent.  It had worked. She was safe. For now. The girls pale skin looked dry and parched, like a skeleton picked to the bone by hungry crows.  Her lips were dry like shrivelled peaches burnt in the suns raise. As the girl washes her face she revealed her true beauty. Her skin was like fresh snow, her lips like golden peaches, and her hair prettier than the sun and her eyes. Her eyes... they were like a raging ocean but also like the calmest of lakes. A large roar bewildered the entire safari; the girl looked up in panic. A gorgeous male lion stood proudly on a rock with his golden hair blew back like a cape of flames, his body a light with pride. In her mind the girl thought back to her father's words "A lion's pride is the greatest thing of all. Never forget that. They will fight for it." Mesmerized by the sight of beauty the girl suddenly realized what the lion was roaring at. A lioness almost as beautiful as her mate was striding towards the lake and in her mouth... a baby cub. A white baby cub. His coat matched the colour of Elisa’s skin his eyes matched the colour of Elisa’s hair and their hearts were souls combined to create courage more powerful than anything ever seen before. The mother dropped it in the water, it was deep, and sprinted away. Suddenly her face gave way to her emotions... she realized what the mother had done... she'd abandoned her baby. The wind stopped. Silence. The safari had never seemed so quiet. A small girls heart just broke she knew her parents had abandoned her at birth just like that cub. She had to do something...before tears broke out of her eyes she ran along the river bank towards the cub. As she reached the cub she saw what the mother had really planned on doing…  She wasn't abandoning her cub so it could start a life of its own and maybe have a chance. She was going to let it die. Crocodiles. They were advancing. The girl’s legs began to work hard forcing her to go on. Each creature in the safari watched her with confusion and curiosity. The elephants trunks twitched, the zebra’s stripes turned pink, the giraffe’s tongs became short. She reached the bank where the cub was. A crocodile was less than a meter away from the cub now. Think. Quick. She ran towards a large flock of zebra’s who in defence raced into the water. The crocodiles pounced and the girl looked upon the havoc she had created. But there was no time she ran head strong into the water grabbed the cub her clung to her tight like a child does to a mother, and sprinted as far away from that lake as she could. Once reaching the safety of the trees she sat down exhausted from the heat and the running. The lion cub was at her side snuggling into her thigh. The girl looked down at what she had saved. How could a mother turn away from this cub? How was it possible? It was the most beautiful thing the girl had ever seen... The girl and the lion gazed into each other souls feeling together and becoming one...

We were almost near the camp. I still felt nervous. So did Elisa, I felt her hand trembling against my fur. I pressed my nuzzle against her hand feeling her nerves ease at my touch. I remember when I first met her tribe. She was more nervous than she was now so I know she can handle what is coming. I remember like it was yesterday and I know Elisa does too...

The sunshine haired girl carried the lion cub in her hands. Her face sleepy her eyes alive. The lion cub slept soundly in her arms cuddling into her chest like they were connected by something other than touch. A guard stood watch over a hill. "Elisa!" he called his voice sounding surprised. "Oh Elisa, you r father has been so worried." The guard rushes over to Elisa. He sees the lion cub. "Elisa what is in your arms?" Elisa looked up her face turning to stone with rust. "It's lion cub I saved it from death down by the lake." The man looked weary but took a moment to ponder his weariness before scooping Elisa and her cub into his arms and ran back to the camp. As he reached the camp men and women gathered around her to see, many gasped in fear others in worry or pain but Elisa could not hear them for her lion cub was a sleep and so was she. Once she reached the largest tent in the tribe the men and women who had been gathering washed away and another guard allowed the first guard in. Inside the tent it was like a safari palace rugs of all skins lay on the ground and on the ceiling, a large bed with an antelope head as pillows lay covering what seemed to be a naked man and three or four naked women. As the guards entered they placed Elisa and her cub at the foot of the bed. The man looked up in anger but once he saw the frail little girl his faced changed into love and devotion "Leave us!" Everyone scurried away like mice in front of a cat. Once they had left the man grabbed his robe, covered himself then swooned over to the young girl. His voice now as soft as a feather "My daughter, my sweet daughter you are home. What is this you have?" A small frail voice let out a frightful whisper, "Father, this is Strong he is my lion, I rescued him from the crocodiles down at the lake." Her father looked concerned "My dear the nearest lake is seven miles away." She looked up at her father and he understood. "Can we keep him father?" Her father looked down at his daughter and smiled. Elisa and Strong fell into a deep sleep. There pale bodies and golden spirits interlocked in courage and bravery...

Elisa, Strong, and the small Elf turned a corner to find the whole tribe waiting for them with an isle for Elisa and Strong to walk. At the end of that isle were Elisa's father and a man who was tall, dark and handsome. He spoke with strong intent " Elisa of the Simba tribe will you be my first bride?" Everyone was looking at Elisa now. Her heart began to thump and skip beats; Strong went ridged with disgust...
