"Eveleen Calder, to the principals office," the voice over the intercom spoke quickly but clearly.
Why would I be wanted in the office? I looked up and saw the teacher nod at me to leave. I slowly stood up from my seat, and walked out of the room and to the office. When I got to the office, I walked in and saw a girl I've never seen before.
Ms. Goldenburgs gave me a warm smile as I entered the room. I returned the smile as I walked up to her desk.
"Ms. Calder, this is Brittany Harris. She is new here and is a junior just like you."
I smiled at her, "hello Brittany, my names Eveleen, but you can call me Eve."
She smiled back at me and stuck out her hand, "hi, as Ms. Goldenburgs said, I'm Brittany, but you can call me Britt."
"Okay, so Eveleen, I was hoping you'd be willing to show Ms. Harris around?" Ms. Goldenburgs asked.
I nodded, "yeah sure."
"Good, you will be excused from the rest of your classes, so you can show her around. Be on your way now."
I laughed and looked to Brittany, "come on, let's go."
I walked out of the office, with Brittany following close behind.
"So Brittany, what's some interesting facts about you?" I asked, trying to make a conversation.
"Um well...I love to act and dance, and I also like singing. For awhile, I was in training to become an Olympic athlete-"
I cut her off, "your were an Olympic athlete?"
"Not really, I never competed, I was in training to be an Olympic Athlete for the US...but then dropped out because I didn't have time," she looked down at her feet as if she was embarrassed by it. How could you be though? It's got to be such an honer to be an Olympic athlete. But wait, she said for the US? But we live in the UK?
"Wait, you said US? We live in the Uk..." I asked unsure.
Brittany laughed, "I was born and lived in the US for about 14 years. I'm not 18 yet, and that's why I couldn't compete. And it was to much work and not enough hours in a day for me to practice, and have time for school.:
I nodded in understanding, "I understand. What we you training for?"
"Oh. well I'm an equestrian. I ride horses..." once again, she looked down as if she were embarrassed.
"You ride horses? That's so cool! You've got to show me sometime," I smiled at her and walked towards the lunch room. "Okay, so this is the cafeteria..."
Britt nodded and looked around, "it's quite big..."
I laughed, "Yeah...it is."
I smiled, I could tell, we are going to be the best of friends.
