Fog, darkness, cold, hot heat, vomiting, fever, horror, love!
Sara experiences all in the same time. She couldn't open her eyes and she didn't even know where she was. Sometimes she heard Nialls voice far away. It was as if he was far away in a corridor and she could only decipher certain words.
"Sara .... well .... love you ....... maybe ..... if .... stay .....!"
Sara felt a straw to her lips, and she drank a thick liquid. It tasted iron and she wondered what it was. She felt Nialls hand caress her cheek and his lips against hers. Yet she couldn't say anything or move her arms, legs or head. It was as if the body was stiff and she hadn't a single will over it.
"You will get better!" he whispered. "Just take it easy. Your body has to get used to it!"
She swallowed. Get used to what? She wanted to ask, but her mouth couldn't talk. She heard Niall, but did he knew that she heard his voice?
Sara didn't know how many days have passed. She woke up one morning and she managed to open her eyes. Niall had put dark fabrics over all the windows and it was dark in the room. Yet customer she to see everything clearly before her. She saw the bed, a chair, a wardrobe, two doors, and she saw Niall standing at the bedside. He smiled at her and sat down next to her body.
She swallowed and smiled weakly.
It was a silly question, but she wanted answers. She felt she now had control of the body and she managed to sit up. She saw that the whole bed was wet from her sweat and she knew she had been sick.
"You've changed." Niall whispered, and he took her hand in his his. "You're no longer human."
She looked at him and wondered what he meant.
"Am I dead?"
Niall laughed, but then he became serious.
"In a way, you're dead, but you will never be as alive as now."
Sara frowned and looked into his eyes. They were blue again, and slowly she remembered his face. He had changed and he had bitten her. She understood that it could be a dream, but at the same time, she felt that it had happened. It was as if Niall read her thoughts.
"Yeah, I bet you."
He looked down at their hands and seemed unsure. It was as if he again wanted to avoid saying the whole truth.
"Because now you are like me."
She swallowed again and tried to make eye contact with him.
"Please, Niall, talk so I understand what you mean."
He looked up at her and nodded weakly. Sara hoped that he would now be honest.
"You're a vampire, Sara."
She was breathless. First, she stared at him, then she began to laugh.
"Come on. No more lies!"
Niall showed no signs of lying this time. He looked into her eyes and swallowed. He had a serious face and she realized he was serious. Therefore, she fell silent and didn't know what she would say.
"Are we vampires?"
"I have lived a long life in solitude, Sara. Please don't be mad at me."
She fell silent and just gaped. Did he really mean seriously that they was vampires?
"I am from Ireland." he whispered. "It's true that my parents worked at the castle, but it was long time ago and they're dead. I became a vampire when they had died and Liam showed me this life. It was he who made me become like this."
Niall told her really the truth. Sara saw it on his face and he showed with the entire body that there were no lies left.
"I became a vampire when I was twenty." he continued. "Louis, Liam, Harry and Zayn aren't my biological brothers, but we have been together since the beginning. They're like my brothers and they're my family."
Sara swallowed and realized that he was serious. It wasn't a lie and it made her just staring at him. Was Niall twenty years old? He was as old as she was, Or counted every year?
"I was born in Mullingar, and had a brother. I was poor and I had to work to get what I wanted."
"So you are old?" she asked him. Niall shook directly on the head and smiled weakly.
"I'm twenty years old and has been that since I become a vampire. I don't age and I will not die. I never get sick and I have the need to drink blood."
It took a moment for Sara to digest the truth. She didn't know if she would be frightened, angry or disappointed. Niall had made her into a vampire without asking if she wanted. It felt like a betrayal, but at the same time, she understood him.
"So why me?"
Niall gulped and looked down at his hands again.
"When I saw you the first time, it was like coming home. I was filled with feelings that I haven't felt in a long time. You made me look forward and you make me feel love."
Sara lay down in bed again and dropped his hand.
"Why didn't you tell me the truth?"
He didn't seem to find an answer. Yet Niall tried to smile, and he looked at her with sad eyes.
"I was scared." he whispered. "I thought you would leave me."
One morning, opened the bedroom door and instead of Niall, Eleanor turned up. She looked curiously at Sarah and smiled weakly.
"How are you?"
Sara was surprised and sat up in the bed.
"Are you here?"
Eleanor nodded in reply and came up to the bed.
"We're all here."
Okay? Sara heard the voices outside the hallway and realized that everyone had come to the castle. Why? Was it because the truth?
Eleanor looked at her long and then sat down on a chair.
"When I became a vampire, I didn't knew the truth. I was angry with Louis and I screamed at him. It took me ten years to get over the betrayal, but today I love him over everything in my life. I'm grateful that he made me."
"What does that have to do with me?"
Eleanor took a deep breath.
"I don't want you to be as I was once upon a time. Submit no energy to what has happened. Think about it instead as a challenge and Niall's still the same person you fell in love with."
Sara just stared at her. She wasn't mad at Niall, not yet. It just felt strange to know the truth, and perhaps that it took time to understand the meaning?
"I love Niall." she said quickly. "I'm not mad at him, but I don't understand why you didn't tell me about it?"
Eleanor laughed a little bit.
"And you would had believed in us?"
Sara nodded instantly.
"Then I could at least have made a choice!"
A few days later, Sara had regained strength. She wandered around the castle and tried to get together reality. The others let her be alone and she was grateful for the tranquility. It was as if she had really begun something new and as if all the old was gone. She no longer thought about the old life. She brooded instead on the new one and what it meant. It took her a few days to collect all the pieces and slowly she realized that eternity was a long time.
"Why didn't you ask if I wanted to become a vampire?"
Niall gulped and hugged her gently.
"It's not something you can choose!" he whispered. "It's something you become."
She sighed and squirmed out of his arms.
"Serious Niall. Was it so hard to tell me the truth?"
He nodded and looked directly into her eyes.
"Sometimes the truth's harder than the lie. You hadn't said yes and you had left me."
"How do you know that?"
Niall looked down at the floor and blushed slightly.
"I would have reacted that way if I had a choice."
