Woke up from a nap about an hour ago, and I still feel like hell. My stomach feels like it's in knots and has felt like that for a while now. Plus the History exam was a real b***h.
Seriously, it was. The slavery question I picked was ok (How far do you agree that the work of abolition societies was the most significant factor in abolishing slavery in 1833?) but the American War of Independence questions were both complete b*****ds. The worst was the second question, which I wasn't stupid enough to pick. "To what extent was the outcome of the American War of Independance responsible for the issues in Britain in the years 1781 to 1787." So a real motherf**ker of a question. The one I went for was just as bad though. "Why did the relationship between Britain and the American Colonies deteriorate so rapidly in the years 1773-1775 after three supposed years of calm?"
What. The. F**k! We were told we'd never get a time gap that narrow! Usually we get time gaps of at least a decade, or if it's less it's for a good reason.. 1740-1763, 1763-1776, 1776-1781, etc. Two years!? Two bloody years!?
We can't even talk about anything outside that bracket as we'll get penalised for it. That left me with the Boston Tea Party (minus what provoked it), the Quebec Acts, the Intolerable Acts, and the Continental Congress. That's it. Normally we'd have tons to talk about.
I'm definitely not continuing with History next year after this. The sources paper (Britain 1945-1990) is gonna be worse. We have to teach ourselves an entire quarter of the course's value (Thatcher years) as our teacher likes the sound of his own voice too much and we don't learn!
If anything on Thatcher comes up, I'm so f**ked.
I'm really gonna fail History.
But I really don't care.
