I went back to my room after finishing my tea so that I could leave Riley and Niall alone. I needed to finish unpacking, put away things and tidy my whole closet.
As I walked in to the small room I could hear the both of them talking; it felt like there was a disagreement between them. I went to close the door because I didn't want to hear their conversation; it was none of my business, but Riley's words caught my attention and instead of closing the door, I stood next to it, listening cautiously.
"But why did you say that? He's going to hate you for that, you know!"
"And so what? She's going to need a job! And maybe he won't mind." Niall sighed. What were they talking about? Who was he? Maybe he was Niall's boss?
"He won't mind?! How can you really think so?" Riley sounded rather annoyed.
"But... You never know. We'll see!"
"Come on, Niall... You know very well what happened and what he wanted. Why would he change his mind? It would be nonsense!"
Their conversation didn't mean anything to me but it seemed to be very important to them, mainly for Riley.
"And did you think of what could happen if..." But I couldn't hear the end of her sentence as she must have been whispering. A long silence followed; maybe they kept on whispering.
"No, I didn't think about it." Niall sighed, breaking the silence. "If things go wrong; if things go against what he wanted, then we'll have to stop everything, okay?" I didn't hear Riley answer so thought that she must have nodded.
"But I don't want to have to do anything bad to her, just because of him and his filthy promise! Why can't he act like a grown-up man?" she yelled suddenly.
"Calm down, please, Riley... He tried to be strong but maybe seeing her will make him forget his promise?"
"Do... Do you think we should call him and tell him she's..." she started to answer but Niall cut her off.
"No. That's not a good idea! We won't tell him and he will have to deal with it later if it works out that way."
As they seemed to have stopped talking, I went back toward the closet and tried to finish putting away my clothes but their conversation had bothered me. I didn't understand who they were talking about and it annoyed me. Was there something I hadn't been told even though it was important?
Soon afterwards, I heard a phone ringing and Niall answered but his voice faded away as he surely had walked away not to be overheard by anyone. I heard footsteps coming my way.
"Can I come in?" Riley's voice asked me as she appeared in the doorframe, smiling at me. I nodded and she stepped closer to me, into the room.
"So how is it going?" she asked but then stared agape at the now empty closet; all the clothes had been thrown on the bed. "What did you do?" she whispered.
"I decided to put away everything." I shrugged my shoulder, while putting a few pants back into the closet. She sighs.
"Riley? Can I ask you something?" I muttered, standing with my back to her. "When will my memory come back?"
I turned around to look at her and saw the sadness written all over her face.
"I don't know, Lia; I'm sorry," she replied, coming to stand beside me. "You will meet many people you used to know but even if they tell you a few things that you did before, it won't make your memory come back. Even if we tell you everything that you said and did; it won't change anything. That's what the doctor said. Your memory will come back little by little, like small flashbacks."
I nodded as she smiled weakly at me, resting my head on her shoulder as she hugged me slightly.
Suddenly we heard Niall cough. We turned toward him; he was standing in the doorway and was still holding his phone in his hand from the call.
"Sorry to disturb you but I just learned that our management want to be able to find a new stylist by tomorrow, as soon as possible really, so if you still want to apply, we have to go now," he explained to us.
Both him and Riley stared at me, waiting for me to answer
"I'd love to take the job; it sounds fun! Let's go!" I exclaimed happily and they both smiled.
"I'll drive you there, then," Riley said and we all made our way out of the flat to her car.
"Lia! Lia!" I heard Riley's voice yell in to the room. I felt my body being shaken; why was she doing that?
"You'll sleep later, you sleepyhead!"
I moaned but kept my eyes shut.
"Wake up! Now!" she suddenly shouted right in my ear, making me freak out.
"What?" I pestered as I yawned. I slowly looked up at her. She now was sitting on top of me. "Get out, I want to sleep."
I sighed, burying my head back into my pillow but she grabbed it and pulled it away from me, my head falling down onto the mattress.
"You've slept enough these last few weeks," she teased me. "As a matter of fact... You know what? Go back to sleep, I will have to tell Niall to call back later then. He just wanted to tell you how your application..." She didn't finish her sentence as I violently got up, making her fall off the bed.
"Eh! Are you mad or what?" I heard her voice coming from the right side of me bed. I rolled my eyes taking her phone which she handed to me. I put the phone closer to my ear and I heard Niall almost dying with laughter on the other side.
"I'd have loved seeing what just happened! But don't kill her either; she could still be useful, you know," he yelled, trying to catch his breath back.
"I heard you!" Riley exclaimed and they both laughed. Seeing how cute they were together and that they liked teasing each other made me smile.
"So... Back to serious stuff now," Niall said, stopping laughing at once. "Our management made a choice." He made a pause and I could hear him breathing in my ear.
"Welcome to our team!" he shouted happily after the moments pause. I smiled widely at Riley who sat beside me.
We giggled and she hugged me tightly. "It's so great for you, Lia!"
"Congratulations!" Niall exclaimed. "You'll start on Monday so be ready!"
I nodded though he could not see me.
"Niall?" I asked him afterwards; there was a question I wanted to ask.
"Do you mind me asking why you keep saying 'our'?"
He chuckled. "Well, I am a singer and I'm in a band so that's why you will be our stylist," he explained me. "There are five of us so you will have a lot of work," he teased me.
"You'll come home very tired everyday," Riley added "imagine having to spend the day trying to dress five guys like Niall. It'll be a nightmare!" She laughed.
"Eh!" Niall exclaimed. "We're not that bad or that annoying!"
"You're right," she replied, a wide smile on her face. "You're the worst out of the five!"
"I'll make it as though hadn't heard that," he retorted, amused.
"And is your band famous?" I asked him with curiosity interrupting their little playing around argument to find out more about the band.
He laughed gently before answering, "I think we can say so." And then he hung up.
