I escaped from the loud and crowded dinning hall early, and I went to the restroom before I went down to the common room. I walked in and I saw Hermione sitting on the ground crying.
"Hermione, what's wrong?" I asked walking over and crouching next to her.
"I just want some friends, but whenever I try, I just mess it up." She sobbed.
"Well, you made me like you, so I know you can do it." I insisted.
"Really? All I did was help you with your tie." sniffed Hermione, wondering how a Slytherin could like a Griffindor who was also a muggle born.
"Well, yes, and I don't really like trusting people very much and I bet becoming friends with Ron and Harry will be less hard. Well, Ron might not like you very much and you will have your ups and downs but in the end Ron will always come back and Harry will always be there." I told her.
"How did you know I wanted to be Harry's and Ron's friend?" Hermione asked, wiping tears away.
"Well, let's just say I know things I shouldn't." I replied.
"Like what?" questioned Hermione.
"Well, for one, I know who Nicolas Flamel is and what is behind the trap door that lies underneath Fluffy, the three headed dog. And I also know that you already have the book that will tell you all you need to know." I answered.
"But.... How? And who is Nicolas Flamel?" Hermione asked, confused.
Before I could answer, I smelled a foul odor a and could feel the earth quiver beneath me. I could feel my hair changing green because I was so nervous, but I changed it back to its normal color then I hid in the shadows. I looked for a way out but of couldn't find one, so I yelled, "Hide, Hermione!"
She looked around and then decided to hide in the bathroom stalls. I knew that this was a big mistake but before I could tell Hermione the door opened and in walked a huge troll. Then when I was almost at the door, it shut and the troll had swung his club around, and knocked me to the ground. I heard a distant scream, then everything went dark.
I woke up and I didn't know where I was for a second, but then I remembered the troll and quickly stood up. I saw Potter on the trolls back and Weasley below him, wand in preparation to cast a spell. I knew that the spell wasn't going to work so I sent a silent spell at the troll's back that knocked him out. Then I hit myself with it so that no one would suspect that I had anything to do with it.
I woke up a few hours later wondering where I was. Next to me, Draco was reading one of my favorite books by a muggle author named Roald Dahl "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More".
"Are you liking it so far?" I asked, surprising Draco who didn't know I was awake.
"It's surprisingly good. But don't tell anyone I said that." threatened Draco.
"If you really want me too. But you know it isn't all that bad to be the good guy, but it is a lot more fun to be the bad one, even if you get teased. Because all the bad guys have something that makes them how they are and I think that's cool."
"Well, I'm just worried my family would hear." explained Draco.
"Sometimes you have to stand up for the good things in life." I said.
"You know you sure are wise for only being a 11 year old." Draco stated.
"Well looks can be deceiving." I replied slyly, smirking.
"Well then, how old are you." he asked.
"Older then 11 but younger than 0 B.C." I replied.
"Oh that is so much of a hint." Draco said sarcastically.
"Well now you know that I am older than 11." I smirked.
"Ok then when will you tell me?" Draco said, exasperated.
"At the end of our seventh year, until then you can keep guessing." I said smugly.
Madam Pomfray came in and told Draco he had to leave and that I had another visitor. In walked Hermione, and she looked like she had been crying.
"Hermione what's wrong?" I asked
"I am so sorry that this happened to you, if only I had thought of a spell quick enough. I mean Ron did." Hermione wailed.
"Hermione, it's ok, don't worry about me, I am fine. But I do have one question, why didn't Madam Pomfray want you and Draco in the same room?" I asked.
"Oh, it's just that stupid Malfoy doesn't like people of my blood type, that's all." muttered Hermione, her sobbing ceasing.
"So, did Harry, Ron, and you become friends?" I asked changing the subject.
"Yes, we did, but for some reason they don't like you. I have no idea why though." she replied.
"Well, you can't be friends with everyone, not that I want to. I prefer my books, they can't tell on you, or backstab, lie, take your boyfriend, they can't steal, and they can make you happy in the darkest of times." I said matter-of-factly.
"But you know, sometimes you need someone to talk to." Hermione said.
"That's something neither Draco nor I have. That's one of the reasons I spend time with him." I replied.
"There's more then one reason you hang out with him?" Hermione asked, laughing.
"Well of course, I would never do something for only one tiny thing." I sniffed.
"Well, then why else do you spend time with him?" Hermione wondered.
"He's funny, kind, intelligent, sweet, and he makes me laugh, which I haven't done for a while." I said, smiling.
"We are talking about Draco Malfoy right?" Hermione snorted sarcastically.
I laughed and said, "He's not what everyone thinks he is. Trust me."
After that we talked for a little while longer, but then Madam Pomfray had Hermione leave so I could get some sleep and return to classes tomorrow.
