"Yeah mate, I'll be right over," I agreed cheerfully over the phone, accepting Niall's invitation to his flat. Fortunately, I was already heading towards my car.Personally, I'd rather we all spent time at my bachelor pad which was big enough if someone wanted to avoid someone else. Even though Niall could purchase a larger property, he has not done so, which is strange but not unlike him.
The kiss that I shared with Jamie that day was...different. I was pissed so I could barely remember that night because of all the alcohol I'd drank. But the feelings I had for her were intensifying and I knew couldn't just do nothing about them or I'd go mad. I had to admit, I do feel a tad guilty for kissing Niall's girlfriend. But she looked upset and we got caught up in the moment and it just...happened.
"How are ya?" Niall greeted me with a warm hug as I stood on his doorstep.
"Great. The boys here yet?"
"Louis brought El. Liam and Dani just got here. And Zayn is on the way."
He moved aside so that I could come in. I removed my shoes but left my socks on and shimmied my way over to Lou before jumping onto his lap.
"Oh f***ing hell...my balls,"he groaned in pain, clutching his crotch as my elbow came into contact with the sensitive area. Meanwhile, El was trying to keep a straight face while her boyfriend was in pain but was struggling as her face was turning a bright red. I teasingly slapped Louis' cheek before rolling off and finding my own seat.
I reached for a biscuit on a plate on the table in front of me and took a big bite. I then realised that Jamie wasn't here yet.
"Is Jamie coming?"I inquired.
"Yeah," Niall muttered. He didn't look at me when he answered me, which was uncharacteristic of him. And the tone of his voice wasn't as friendly as usual. "I'm just about to go pick her up, actually." He jingled the keys in his pocket.
"Oh. Well, could I follow?"
He shifted his head towards me, hesitating.
"It's dark outside. I just want to make sure you two are on good behaviour and doing things safely," I teased, emphasising the innuendos, which Niall seemed to overlook while the others snickered.
"Yeah. Anything ya want,"he relented.
We strode to his car, Niall hopping into the driver seat while I hopped into the back.
After we started driving for a bit, I reckoned it was safe for me to ask why he seemed so upset.
"You alright, mate?"
"Yeah, just a little tired," he answered with a strained voice, his eyes focused on the road ahead.
I nodded. No one messed with Niall's sleep or he'd get grumpy. "Sorry to hear that."
It looked like Niall wouldn't be in his usual cheerful self for the rest of the journey so I decided to occupy myself by checking Twitter while listening to some of Ed the Red Head's songs.
"The worst things in life come free to us," I hummed as I realised we'd come to a stop. The passenger door swung open and next thing I knew, I received a mouthful of blonde hair, since I'd been sitting in the middle, leaning forwards.
"Hey Ni-oh my gosh Harry! I'm so sorry! I didn't know you were there!" she said anxiously, turning her body to face me.
I chuckled,"It's fine." Besides, her hair smelled great.
Jamie turned towards Niall and hugged him briefly before smiling at me in the rearview mirror and fastening her seatbelt. "Thanks for picking me up on such short notice," she thanked Niall who was driving, before glancing into the mirror. Upon realising that I was looking at the mirror too, she quickly looked down at her lap.
"No problem. Saved you the cab fare money," Niall replied winking at her.
"Oh how may I ever repay you, kind sir?" she teased, revealing a toothy grin.
"With a sweet kiss upon my cheek," he cleverly replied.
"Cheeky," she laughed,"but you've earned it," she relented, leaning in to kiss Niall on the cheek. I had to admit, I did feel a pang of jealousy. I still have feelings for her.
I half-expected Niall to sneak in a kiss on the lips but was glad that he didn't.
"Do I get one?" I interjected.
There was a brief silence as Jamie turned her head to see if I was joking. And I was. Sort of.
I winked and flashed a cheeky grin. Niall cleared his throat, momentarily glancing at Jamie, then me, then Jamie before fixating his eyes on the road.
"Only if you promise you lads will sing one of your songs for me."
"Done," I answered quickly.
"Right. Let's see if you can keep your promise."
And that was exactly what I did. After I gathered the lads in the living room of Niall's flat a few minutes after we arrived and exchanged pleasantries, I insisted we sing "Na Na Na" - underrated, yes, still a good tune nonetheless.
Niall, who was sitting down on the sofa-he had to reduce standing up because of the recent surgery he'd got done on his knee-with his guitar propped up on one knee, started strumming and we started singing.
