"It's your turn to change Taylor." Me and Liam have been living together for about a month now. We're still dating. Nothing else has really happened. Taylor is 3 weeks old, and is the most perfect baby girl in the entire world. I couldn't ask for a better life right now.
"Nikki where do you put the diaper powder again?" I heard Liam calling me all the way from the living room. Which is much further away from our bedroom then it used to be. We had to move to another apartment. Liam's old one just wasn't enough room for the baby and us also. And Liam recently got promoted to manager at Barnes and Noble. So we have more money coming in. My parents also bought us a car. Liam, Taylor and I are almost a real family now. I have a job too. If you consider Papa John's a job.
I met Liam in the living room by Taylor's changing bed. Every time it's his turn to change Taylor, he never has any idea what to do.
"Liam.. How do you still not know how to do this?" I laughed as I took the diaper out of his hand. "You throw the old one in the diaper genie. You put the new one on like this." I demonstrated for him.
"Oh I see now." I felt Liam's warm, strong arms wrap around my waist. I still am not as skinny as I used to be, but I did lose a lot of the baby weight. "I love you." Liam started kissing up and down my neck.
"Liam.." I quickly wrapped up Taylor's diaper and moved away. "She's done!"
"Nikki? Why have you been acting like that lately? Every time I even try to kiss you, you freak out."
"I feel like I'm going behind my parent's backs. I know they know we're living together and everything, but it still feels wrong."
Liam walked away from me, into the kitchen. I put Taylor to sleep and then followed him.
"I'm sorry Liam." I wrapped my arms around him from the back. He turned around and smiled.
"Let's go out to dinner. We can get your mom to babysit Taylor. Please?"
"Sure." I smiled back at him, and then went to get dressed. Liam always likes to take me to fancy restaurants, so I put a cute dress on. Liam was in the other room on the phone with my mom.
I quickly dialed Mrs. Fields' number. I didn't want Nikki hearing. She answered after three rings. "Mrs. Fields? I wanted to know if you could watch Taylor tonight? Me and Nikki are going out to dinner."
She gasped. "Yes I'll watch Taylor. Is this a special dinner? Like proposal special?"
"I'm not sure.. We wouldn't even be able to have our wedding and be legally married until her next birthday. I don't know if she would want to wait 9 months to be married. You know what they say... A long engagement either doesn't happen, or leads to a shorter marriage. I know it's not that long to be engaged, but for us it will be. I can't wait any longer."
"Well whatever you do, it's up to you. Just let me know! I'll be over in 10 minutes to watch Taylor. Bye." She hung up. I have no idea what I'm going to do. I want to propose to Nikki, but I don't want anything to go wrong before Nikki is 18. I already bought the ring...
"Alright Liam, let's go!" I watched my mom pulled up to the apartment building. I grabbed my purse and kissed Taylor's head on my way out.
"Hi sweetie!" My mom walked in the apartment and dropped her stuff on the couch. "Y'all are good to go now!! See you later!"
Liam grabbed my hand, and we walked out. We got in the car when Liam stopped in his tracks.
"What's wrong Liam?" He unfroze and looked up at me.
"I'm in love with you. And I'm really looking forward to this dinner."
"I love you too. And you're right! Where are we going?"
"I was thinking maybe that Italian place a few blocks down?"
"Perfect!" I kissed Liam on the cheek. I saw a grin appear on his face when I did. He started the car, and we were on our way to eat.
By the time we got to the restaurant, it was super crowded. Luckily, we got the last table left. We sat down and immediately got menus. "Wow Liam good choice! The service here is great!"
"Yep...." A huge smile came across Liam's face.
"What's that about?" I laughed.
"Oh, nothing." The smile still stayed on his face. We went the whole meal cracking jokes and just smiling at each other. "Let's get dessert."
"Liam I have A LOT of baby weight to loose.."
"Please? What about the cheesecake?"
Liam called one of the waiters over and whispered something in his ear. The waiter nodded, and came back 3 seconds later with a huge slice of cheesecake.
"You're gonna share this with me right?" I looked up at Liam, but he just smiled. I took a small bite right from the corner of the cheesecake. "This is really good!" Liam and the waiters were all standing there, staring at me. Liam leaned over the table and cut the middle of the cheesecake out. "What's going on Liam?"
"Just trust me and take slow bites."
I bit right into the cheesecake. I felt something small and hard, and spit it out in disgust. "What in the world is this?" I rubbed the cheesecake off the object, revealing a huge diamond ring. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Liam get down on one knee.
"Nikki you're my best friend. For as long as I have been alive, I've never been in love with someone so much. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know that if you say yes, we will have to wait a while. But trust me, it will be worth it. Will you marry me?"
I covered my mouth with my hands. I was speechless at first. I had no idea what to say. All I could manage was a small nod. Liam stood up and hugged me while the whole restaurant applauded. I felt tears escape my eyes while still in Liam's arms. I whispered in his ear, "Is this going to be perfect? Are we really doing this?"
"You won't regret it. I'm forever yours. I promise."
