"Farrah," Jon began, "have you called the women, who called yesterday, back?" Jon slipped his sports jacket on.
"Get to it." He kissed mine and Allie's foreheads then left. "It seemed urgent. The number's next to the phone." I nodded my head, and continued to eat my bowl of cereal.
"Who called you?" Allie asked. "I don't even know," I shrugged, "I guess we're about to find out. Hand me the phone, will ya?" Allie passed me the home phone and the slip of paper.
"I think it's the scout that came to my last basketball game." I said as I punched in the last two digits. It rang twice before someone picked up. "Hello?" The female answered. "Hello, um, this is Farrah-"
"Farrah, baby- oh my God! I tried calling before, but you weren't home, and-"
"How the fuck did you get this number?" I said loudly. Allie was staring at me now. She put her ear up to the phone.
"I asked around." She answered, "But that doesn't matter. It's so nice to hear your voice."
"Holy shit! It's your-" I clasped my hand over Allie's mouth before she finished.
"Who did you ask?"
"I don't know. I didn't catch his name. And that doesn't matter!" She sounded whiny-- like an annoying, whiny child. "It matters to me." I retorted. "That way I know who to kill," I muttered. "Who was it?" I demanded one more, this time, into the phone.
"I don't know. I miss you, honey. I stay awake all night wondering what my daughter is doing right at that second."
"Just tell me." I almost yelled.
"I don't know! I didn't she his face. He was wearing sunglasses and a jacket with his hood up!"
I hung up.
"At least I didn't call her off my cellphone, or she'd ha--" The home phone rang again, cutting me off. "It's her." I said. "Gimme," Allie said. I handed her the phone, and she started pushing buttons. A few seconds later, she announced, "Now she's blocked. Easy."
"Yeah, I guess." I was still a little worried she'd find a way to contact me through my cell phone. I could block her on there too, but the idea was still unsettling.
"C'mon," Allie stood. "Where are we going?" I followed my foster sister blindly. "I bought some new make up, and I wanna try it out." We trailed up the staircase to her room.
"Yeah, so if I mess up it'll be your face." Allie joked.
"okay," I shrugged.
Monday was Presidents' Day, so we didn't have school. We, as a family, drove an hour and spent the entire day at one of Allie's relatives home. It was her Aunt Charlotte's, or Aunt Chuck, as they called her, home. There I met her Uncle Scott and cousin Mary. They were very accepting of me.
The day ended faster than it should've. We left at around eight-thirty so that we could get home at nine. I was tired and fell asleep once we arrived back.
"Oh, my gosh, is it true?" Sadie, a girl in my chemistry class who had been staring at me finally asked. "What are you talking about?" I asked, baffled. "You don't have to play coy," she nudged my shoulder, "Almost everyone in the school knows."
"I seriously don't know what you're talking about," I exasperated. She groaned. "You and Justin Bieber," She finally said. I furrowed my brows. "Don't worry, he gets most of the girls anyways. It was only a matter of time before he got in your pants too." Sadie shrugged.
"We didn't do anything," I countered. "That's not what I heard..." She giggled just as the bell rang. "Who did you hear it from?" I asked quickly while gathering my binder, pencil case, and textbook. "My lips-" Sadie pretended her lips were a zipper, zipped them up, and threw away the 'key',"-are sealed." Then she walked away. I groaned loudly and trotted down to my locker before I was late to my next class.
"Hey," Justin said, coming from behind me. I didn't answer.
"What did I do?" He asked. I still didn't answer. "Can you pass me my Calc book?" He said. I handed it to him. "I'm not talking to you."
"May I know the reason why?"
"Do you know what's been circulating around the school?" I said questioned.
"Yeah. Kathy and Ben broke up, I know, but Kat had been sleeping around with guys almost since they started dating; totally her fault. And, she supposedly wants him back, and she promi-" I couldn't continue hearing the 411 of the day, especially when it wasn't what I was talking about.
"Everybody thinks I slept with you." I slammed my locker door shut, which shut him up. "Oh, well, I didn't say anything... mainly because you didn't sleep with me." He laughed. "This isn't a joke to me," I glared at him. That attractive laugh stopped. "I didn't say a word." He shrugged, "Besides, I don't fuck and tell."
I started walking to Art since I was going to be late. Then I stopped causing Justin to run into my back. "Oh my Gosh!" I said loudly in sudden realization and turned around. "What now?" He rolled his eyes. "Everyone probably thinks I'm one of your sluts!" I said disgusted. "No one thinks that," He said, "and if they do, they better hope I don't hear about it. Now, keep walking."
"Jesus, I don't need you to do anything more for me, alright?" I snapped and then began to start walking again. He was totally unfazed by my outburst. I turned again and said, "It was Ty."
"Probably," He said.
Then lunch came. I sat down with my lunch tray of God-knows-what and was just about to get up to get my small bottle of apple juice when it was put on tray. I looked up. "You didn't have to do that." I said, "I was just about to go fetch it myself."
"Yeah, well, now you don't have too," Justin smirked. I rolled my eyes. I wonder how many times I've done that today. Too many. He didn't sit next to me today. He sat at the table next to us that was occupied with a bunch of girls. I had a feeling I knew why he did that. He probably thought it'd look bad because of the rumors.
"You slept with Justin and didn't tell me?!" Allie said so loudly that the entire cafeteria came to a silence.
"Shut up!" I said, "It's like an amphitheater in here." I pulled her down, keeping my head low. "So you gave your v-card to Justin. Who would've thought, right?" She sipped her orange juice.
"I did not have sex with him." I said. "Ty walked in..." I thought twice about telling Allie, "never mind."
"Hey, can we talk?" Collin set his tray next to mine and sat down. Everyone around us took their turn, glancing at us. I hated being the center of attention. And, I hated that I knew what this was going to be about. "Allie..." I looked at her. "I'll just... go sit with... Luke." She said slowly. I felt bad for making her move.
"Farrah, if you didn't want to be with me, then you could've just told me. I never thought of you to go and sleep around, especially with King Dick-Head." He sounded like he was like about to blow a fuse.
"Firstly, don't call him that." I said. "Secondly, I didn't sleep with Justin. Ty is just a fucking idiot who likes to open his mouth and talk shit." Collin chuckled. "What?" I glared at him. "It's odd and cute watching curse. It's like seeing a nun at Taco Bell-- it's weird and kind of humorous." He smiled.
"Nuns don't go to Taco Bell. They can only really go out to buy groceries and whatnot. Sisters could probably go to Taco Bell because they're the ones that move around. Nuns have to stay in their Convent." I stated matter-of-factly.
"Okay, smarty, thanks for the lecture."
I giggled. "I didn't have sex with you're good friend Justin."
"I trust that you're telling the truth And, we're anything but friends, love." I melted a little when he called me 'love'. I felt horrible. Was I leading two guys on? I was kind of dating Collin, while I like Justin, but I also like Collin.
"Yeah, I know. Mind telling me why?"
"Yeah, I do. It's kind of silly." He said. "Then why hold a grudge if it's stupid?" I questioned. "Out loud it sounds ridiculous; it's better if I just keep to myself for now." I nodded. We ate for a while before I said, "Okay, well, I'm going to the library to be alone to do some thinking. I'll see you, later." I stood up and threw away what was left of the meal.
I quickly gathered my books for Bio, and went to the library to finish my uncompleted homework.
Hell was over soon enough, and I finally got to go home. I managed to steer clear from Ty, Justin, and Collin for the rest of the day. Luke was silently arguing with his girlfriend as I uncomfortably sat in the back. I knew they were talking about me because would occasionally glance through the rear view mirror and look at me. I didn't know what to do, especially since I didn't exactly do anything wrong.
We arrived shortly after. I got out, and then that's when things started getting heated in the car. "I'll meet you inside." Allie said, shutting the door. I nodded and swiftly stalked into my large, white home. I went up the stairs, and into my room.
I unloaded my backpack desperate to find something to indulge myself into to forget that my two friends were speaking of me and my weird, almost intimate friendship with Luke's cousin.
I opened up my laptop and started editing my Paper. I was almost done; it just needed to be proof read and edited. I played some music, letting acoustic music play in the back ground.
I hated being the center of attention, and what happened today? I was what everyone was talking about- except for Kathy and Ben.
After I finished editing and went over the Research Paper twice, and then once more, I saved it, and closed my laptop. I ate, and then back up to my room. I did my Spanish homework; and when I looked, it was ten o'clock. so I decided to call it a night. I dressed out of clothes, and into a tank top and sweatpants. I took my bra off, and then proceeded to snuggle underneath my covers.
I was hoping something else would happen to keep me off the mind of most of the people. I would go to a school where everyone just lived off gossip. I spent the entire week avoiding Justin and Collin; trying to keep the week shit-free.
