Ace of Blood

Alice has found a new kind of wonderland. Jamie Cunning is just an ordinary girl. Sort of. Bearing the scars of a thousand painful memories, old an new, she found a strange set of friends in the abandoned and untended headstones of a nearby cemetery. But this girl who prefers the company of the dead to that of the living finds a shocking new life thrust upon her when she is shoved into a world of danger and death. The worst of all: it lurks just around the corner. The paperboy. The school bully. The neighbor. They may all be a part of it. Watch out, because Ace is always watching, and you never know how the cards will fall.

13. A Very Interesting Game

This, the rabbit thought to itself as it watched the small screen, may just be a very interesting game. The little figures continued to move, a video provided via security camera. The girl was resilient, he would give her that. She had barely reacted, hadn’t tried to run when they’d left her alone. She’d just sat there waiting for someone to return, scratching now and then at her wrist as if it pained her.
She was stronger, this new Alice, than the last few had been. For the first time in a long, long time, there was a chance something new might happen. The White Rabbit was excited by the sheer possibility of it.
That was, of course, if she could last long enough to find him. The way things were going now, she’d be dead in a week at most, just as soon as the Queen learned of her presence. There was no way that woman would let someone like this newest Alice into her home, not when that jeopardized everything.
Because if the White Rabbit was found this time, he wouldn’t be going down alone. He’d already seen to that.
