My vision was blurry and I could hear people whispering.
“Is she going to wake up at all? She’s been like this for two weeks now! I’m seriously about to lose my hope,” a beautiful Irish accent rang to my ears.
“Niall, calm down! The doctor said that there’s 80% chance that she will wake up; it’s just…they don’t know how much brain damage was done from the crash,” a husky voice replied. Wait…what crash? Was I in a car accident? Who are these people? I wanted to find out, so I began to move.
“Hmm…aww…” I cried out from the pain of my left arm.
“Casey? OH MY GOD! Babe, you’re awake!!” the Irish guy, apparently blond, rushed to my side.
“Hi…what’s going on right now? Who are you guys? And why are you calling me babe?” I asked confusedly.
Case has been in a coma for two weeks now, and I really can’t imagine the feeling I would have if I lose her. For the first week, I was in a hospital bed too for minor concussion and some scratches, but she was in critical condition when we were brought in. The truck hit us from her side, so her left arm was broken with a few broken ribs and a serious concussion. Also, we lost our baby… That was not as serious, I guess, as having her waking up soon and not remembering who I was.
“Is she going to wake up at all? She’s been like this for two weeks now! I’m seriously about to lose my hope,” I asked impatiently.
“Niall, calm down! The doctor said that there’s 80% chance that she will wake up; it’s just…they don’t know how much brain damage was done from the crash,” Harry tried his best to calm me down.
Just as I was about to get out of the room to get some fresh air, I here painful moans from the voice that I’ve missed so much. She’s awake! But she didn’t remember any of us…just what I was afraid of…
“You really don’t remember any of us?” I asked.
“Zayn, call the doctor!” Liam whispered.
“I’m guessing you’re my friends? But I really don’t remember anything… How did I end up in here…in pain?” she said and looked at me with fear.
I took a deep breath and was about to begin telling her the whole story when Ashley interrupted. “Casey! You were in a car accident!”
“Ashley, can you let me tell her please?” I shot her a serious glance.
“Ok, Case, yes, you were in a car accident…we were both in the accident. As you can see I have some cuts and scars too. Let’s start from the beginning. You and I, we are married for five months now; and my name is Niall Horan, in case you’re wondering. These people here are our friends. Starting from the left of the room: Liam, Louis, Harry, and Zayn who just went out to get a doctor—they are my bandmates. We are in a boy band called One Direction. The other four lads over there are Calum, Luke, Ashton, and Michael; they are in another band called 5 Seconds of Summer. The ladies…the one who talked to you is your best friend, Ashley; she’s Harry’s wife by the way. The curly brunette beside Louis is Eleanor; Louis and Eleanor are married too. The one standing beside Liam’s girlfriend, Sophia. Lastly is Perrie, Zayn’s wife,” I paused to give her some time to digest.
“I can’t believe I forgot all of you…I’m so sorry…” she said and began to tear up.
“Hey, please don’t cry! It’s not your fault! It was that truck driver! Anyways, we will help you remember everything! I promise!” I assured her.
I couldn’t believe that I forgot all these people who cared about me so much; especially the Irish hottie, Niall. How could I forget about my husband, the love of my life? I have to remember; I have to get my old life back. Just as I was about to ask him more about us, the doctor came; and Liam pulled Niall out to speak to him.
“Niall, you can tell her everything about the two of you, but don’t tell her about the baby yet,” Liam suggested.
“Why not? She will find out when she remembers.”
“She has a lot to catch up, and she’s feeling really guilty right now. So don’t give her another reason to blame herself; that won’t help her recover faster.”
“Alright…” I reluctantly agreed and went back into the room.
