Three days have passed, and I haven't heard anything from Casey. The boys called, texted, and tweeted me, but I didn't answer at all. Most of the time I just drank: whiskey, beer, vodka, any alcohol that I could find at home. The house was a mess; empty bottles and garbage everywhere. I was a mess too coz the last time that I showered was three days ago.
Just like usual, I was wasted lying on the couch staring at the big house without my wife; suddenly my phone rang again. I thought it was just Liam, but the caller ID showed "Baby Girl". My face lit up! Finally, Casey decided to call me.
"Hello? Babe?" I answered cheerfully.
"Hey, Niall! Sorry I used Casey's phone to call you coz you won't answer if I used mine," Ashley's voice came through the phone.
"Oh, bye," I coldly said and was about the hang up before she stopped me.
"Niall wait! You will want to hear this!"
"What?!" I snapped impatiently.
"They are letting her go home today and-"
I cut her off and asked, "Really? When? I gotta clean up the house before she comes home!"
"Let me finish! She doesn't want to go back to YOUR home though...she's only gonna go back to pick up her stuff."
My heart dropped again. I stupidly thought that things would go back to normal after three days of silence. I really couldn't go on for another day without her! I need to make things right. I got a plan.
"Hello? Niall?" Ashley asked.
"Ya, ummm, where is she gonna stay?"
"She can stay at our place. Harry and I will be going to LA for a couple of weeks, so she will have the house to herself."
"Thanks for letting her staying at your place."
"Ya, no problem."
After a few seconds of awkward silence, I finally said, "I guess I'll see you guys later."
"Ya, ok. By the way, Casey doesn't know that I borrowed her phone to call you, so you need to pretend to be surprised when you see her."
Right after Ashley's call, I began to clean up all the mess that I have made. Spraying some Febreze around to cover the alcohol smell. I also took a warm shower and tidy up myself. In the shower, I have been thinking about what I should say to Casey to help her change her mind. I couldn't stand the thought of having her living so close my our house but I can't go over to visit. To be honest, I was still a bit drunk; hopefully, I will be able to hide it when she gets here.
Ten minutes after my shower, I was pacing back and forth before the door bell rang. I opened the door and finally saw my beautiful wife standing in front of me. I pretended to be surprised just like what Ashley told me to do. "Oh my god! Babe! You're home! Why didn't you call? I could have go pick you up!"
She ignored everything I said and walked in straight towards our bedroom.
"Babe! Please just talk to me!" I called out after her while following her to our room.
She pulled out a big duffle bag and walked into our walk-in closet.
"What are you doing?" I asked pretending to know nothing.
"I'm going to stay at Ashley and Harry's for a while," she finally answered, but indifferently.
"What?! Why? No! Case, please stay! I'm really sorry for what I put you through! I can go please in another room if you don't wanna talk to me, please just stay!" I begged.
"No, Niall!" she turned around and yelled, "You broke your promise and my heart... I'm not gonna stay here to risk having my heart shattered again," her voice began to break in the end.
"I'm really sorry, babe! I was drunk, I didn't know what I was doing. Please just give me another chance," I kept begging and reaching my hand to grab her wrist when she was about to walk out of the room.
She shook off my hand and gave me a death stare then continue to walk downstairs towards the front door.
"Casey, please! I can't live like this anymore! I can't live another day without you!" I cried out.
She stopped. I caught up to her, and I turned her around to face her and only found her with two streams of tears running down her face. My hands held onto her face and my thumbs wiping off her tears.
"The past few days have been awfully lonely for me as well but-"
"Then don't leave! I will make it up to you!" I cut her off.
She pretended to be not listening to me and continued with her last sentence, "But I think the baby is better off without a drunken daddy who makes out with other women in the bar."
Her comment shot me like daggers, and I didn't know what to say anymore. She wouldn't listen to me or accept my apologies. I was trying really hard to make things right, but she wouldn't even give me a chance. I dropped my hands but still staring right into her gorgeous brown eyes.
""Thank you, Niall, for the best year-long dream that I could ask for. I think it is time to wake up now (sniffles). Take care of yourself now," She softened her tone and turned around to walk away.
"Casey, please! I'm begging you!" I called and stood there, powerless.
"I'll send you the divorce paper to sign within the next few days." That was all she said before she slammed the door behind her.
Now the house felt emptier than ever. Everywhere I looked, I thought about all the good memories we had in this house. I thought about the family that we were going to have together. I lost all the colours in my life; I lost my gravity.
Life without Casey was tasteless, and I continued to drown in alcohol. The rest of the band kept calling me, but I still refused to answered. Liam and Louis came to visit, but I didn't answer the door neither.
