9. Coming Home
Once everyone left Liam was gushing about what Mason said. Liam sat by the side of my bed. We still need to talk about everything that happened. We were sitting there silent. I looked at Liam and he was looking at the ground. I knew exactly what he was thinking.
"Liam." I said softly.
"What?" He whispered.
"It's not your fault." I said. He didn't answer.
"Liam.. It really isn't. Please answer me." He still wouldn't answer. I sat up so I was comfortable and tilted his head up to look at me. He was crying. It broke my heart. I gave him a kiss. It took him a few seconds to respond. But when he did it was full of desperation. My heart was breaking more the longer we kissed. Once we parted he looked at me.
"Im sorry. I'm so sorry Hayley. I didn't mean anything I said. I can't believe I said any of that. I know you don't use your parents death as a sympathy card, I know you're happy for me and I know you aren't using Mason as an excuse. I love you so much and I feel terrible knowing it's all my fault you're in the hospital." Liam finished. He started sobbing.
"Liam I know you didn't mean it. I didn't mean what I said either. And it isn't your fault. I love you too." I said tears threatening to spill out.
" how do you not hate me right now? I'm a terrible person. You should break up with me. I'm horrible." He said.
"Never. I love you too much. " I said.
He was still crying he put his head in my lap and I played with his hair. Once he calmed down he looked up at me.
"I have a question for you." He said.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Can Mason have my last name? I want his last name to be mine since I'm his dad and everything. We can change me to one of his legal guardians and Teagan and Harry or someone to his emergency contacts." He said. I smiled.
"Of course. As long as you really do want to and you aren't just doing this because you feel like you have to." I said.
"Babe, I asked you for a reason." He said.
"Just making sure." I said. We talked about everything more and decided to ask Mason if he wants his name changed. Then the nurse came in giving me pain killers for my ribs. I thanked her and then I got tired.
"Lay with me." I said.
"Hayley, you have broken ribs, I'll hurt you." He said.
"No you won't. Please." I asked.
"Hayley." He said.
"Liam please." I begged. He sighed and laid in next to me. I cuddled up to him the only way where I wouldn't be in pain.
"Are you uncomfortable?" I asked him.
"No are you?" He asked me.
"No. And I know you are I can tell." I said.
"It's fine. As long as you're okay." He said.
"This is why I love you so much." I said. He kissed my
forehead and then I fell asleep. I could tell Liam wasn't sleeping. I woke up because my ribs were hurting and saw Liam staring at the ceiling.
"You need to sleep you know." I said.
"I can't sleep. If something happened to you I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I already feel terrible I'm not letting anything happen to you. Not again." Liam said looking straight at me.
"Li, it's not your fault. Nothing is going to happen to me. I'm not going anywhere. I promise." I said. I kissed his cheek.
"Get some sleep." I said softly. I started playing with his hair. I heard his breath get heavy knowing now that he's finally asleep. I fell asleep with my hands in his hair. I woke up to Harry walking in. Liam was still asleep. He must have been really tired.
"Hey Hales how are you feeling?" Harry asked kissing my cheek.
"Alright. My ribs hurt a little." I said.
"Payno okay?" Harry asked. I laughed at the nickname and nodded.
"He didn't get a lot of sleep last night. He said he was scared something was going to happen to me and if it did he wouldn't be able to live with himself and he already feels like it's his fault." I said.
"Oh. You had me worried sick Hales. When you screamed on the phone I was scared for my life. If anything really terrible happened to you. I don't know what I would've done. You're like my sister and I don't want to lose my sister. Ever." Harry said. He was getting teary eyed.
"Haz. I'm not going anywhere. Ever. You better not go anywhere either then I can't lose my brother." I said. He gave me a hug. Then Liam woke up.
"Harry what are you doing here?" He asked.
"To pick you guys up when Hayley gets cleared like we talked about." He face palmed himself. Then the doctor walked in.
"How are you feeling?" Dr.Rhodes asked.
"Alright.. My ribs hurt a little but that's pretty much it." I said.
"Okay well you can go home whenever. You are doing really well considering how totaled that car is. You're very lucky." She said. She left the room.
"Oh my god!" I said.
"What's wrong baby?" Liam asked me.
"My car!" I said. Liam and Harry exchanges glances.
"Yeah no more range rovers for anyone!" Harry said.
"Why no- oh wait yeah sounds good to me. I just wish that the car my parents gave me wasn't ruined. Plus the snow globe is too.." I said.
"Why don't you get changed into these clothes and then we can get you out of the hospital since they creep you out?" Harry suggested.
"Sounds good to me." I said. I grabbed the clothes Harry gave me and then changed in the bathroom. I put on the yoga pants with silver lettering that said 'Pink' on the pink waist band, then i put on the gray crop top that said 'Hipsta Please'.... Of course. When I walked out of the room I saw Liam and Harry talking. I walked over and sat down.
"Whatchya up to?" I asked.
"Nothing.." Harry said.
"You sound like you're hiding something."
"We aren't. 100% serious we aren't hiding anything." Liam said. I checked out of the hospital and we drove home. I got home and Mason was watching spongebob. He ran over to me and hugged my legs.
"I missed you mommy!" He said.
"I missed you too." I said. We were all watching movies when Teagan brought me upstairs to the spa room. We spent our whole day just getting facials and manicures and sitting in the hot tub. It was one nice girls day. My day ended laying in bed with my amazing boyfriend and my son and watching movies. I fell asleep with Mason cuddled up to my side and Liam's arms around us both. Liam and I made it through our first big fight. That's a good sign I don't know what I'd do without him.
