Another 2 months had passed by. Now she was 5 months pregnant. Everyone knew she was pregnant. The people at her youth group didn’t really talk to her anymore and she was off the cheerleading team. She felt alone even though she had her girls, Matt, and Ezra.
There were only 2 things keeping her together. Ezra and finding out the gender of her baby tomorrow. She really wanted a little girl. Ezra and her hadn’t talked about names yet. But they were going to have to soon.
Finally it was Thursday. Lena and Ezra were heading over to the doctor’s office for their appointment.
“Hello Lena and Ezra. How are you guys today?” Dr. Messing asked.
“We’re doing okay.” Ezra and Lena said at the same time.
“How are you feeling Lena?” Dr. Messing asked
“Okay. Getting really tired at times though.” Lena explained.
“Are you still having morning sickness?” Dr. Messing asked.
“No I am not. Thank god.” Lena said.
“That is good. Now let’s find out what your having now, shall we?” Dr. Messing said.
“Yes let’s do it.” Lena and Ezra said.
Dr. Messing put the goop on her stomach like she always did and looked for the baby’s heartbeat.
“Well let’s see here. It looks like you are having a healthy baby girl.” Dr. Messing informed them.
“Are you serious?” Lena asked.
“Yes I am serious.” Dr. Messing said while laughing.
Lena was so happy. She was getting the little girl she always wanted, just a little early though.
“Let me go get the pictures and you two can be on your way.” Dr. Messing said.
Dr. Messing went out of the room.
“I am really happy were having a little girl.” Lena said.
“Me too. Have you thought about names?” Ezra asked.
“Not really, have you?” She asked him.
“No I have not. I think now would be a good time to think about it. What are some of your favorite names?” Ezra asked.
“My top 3 favorite names are Lucy, Annaleigh, and Stacey.” Lena said.
“I like the first 2 but not see keen on Stacey. My top 3 are Melissa, Brittani, and Kristin.” He explained to her.
“What about Annaleigh Kristin?” She asked him.
“I don’t know. I’m not sure about my top 3. We don’t have to pick a name right now.” Ezra said.
“Yeah that’s true. But we do need to choose soon because my friends will want to know.” She told him.
“I see. Wait I have a name. What about Lucy Grace?” He asked her.
“Lucy Grace. I love it. It is so pretty. Is Grace a name in your family?” She asked him.
“Yes. It was my great-grandma’s name. Is there a Lucy in your family” He asked her.
“Yeah there is. It was my great-grandmas too.” She explained to him.
“Well it is perfect then. Lucy Grace.” He said.
“Yes, it is perfect. I’m still scared though, Ezra. I don’t know how I am going to be able to handle being a parent.” Lena said to him.
“I know, I am scared too but we are going to be able to do this. It won’t be easy but we will.” He explained to her.
Dr. Ruthford walked back in with the pictures.
“Here you go my dears. The next appointment will be the last one you have before the baby is born. Can you make it in April 21th at 4:15?” Dr. Ruthford asked.
“Let us check our schedules real quick.” Lena told her.
Lena and Ezra both pulled out there cell phones. Lena nor Ezra had anything that day besides school.
“Looks like that will be fine.” Ezra told her.
“Okay great. We will see you then. Lena make sure you are taking the vitamins, other things and doing the exercise I have been telling you to do.” Dr. Ruthford told her.
“Yes Dr. Ruthford.” Lena said.
“Have you guys picked out a name yet?” Dr. Ruthford asked them.
“We did while you were getting the pictures. We are naming her Lucy Grace.” Ezra told her. He had such a happy tone to his face.
“That is just a beautiful name. Well it looks like we are done here. We will see you two next month.” She told him.
Then Ezra and Lena left the doctor’s office.
“Wow, were having a little girl. Lucy Grace.” Lena said. She had such a huge smile on her face. For once out of these past few months, she actually felt happy. All of her fears of having a baby just rushed out of her. She was walking out of the doctor’s office hand in hand with the man she loved. She just knew that she was going to be taken care of and that she was in love with the man she was walking hand and hand with, Ezra James Matthews. She couldn’t wait to spend the rest of her life with him, Lucy Grace, and any other kids that they may have in the future.
