She put her hand on my chin and forced me to look into her ocean blue eyes. “You know I care about you Echo. You should know how I feel about you.”
But the thing was, I had no clue how she truly felt about me. She had secrets that were kept from everyone, including me. I did not know if she wanted me to leave or stay the night. I didn't know if she wanted people to know about our flings or keep them to ourselves. I wanted to be in a relationship with this girl.
All of the sudden she kissed me, catching me by surprise. The kiss felt meaningful and so passionate. My knees began feeling weak as she tangled her fingers in my messy hair, rapping her left leg around my hip. I grabbed both of her legs and rapped them around my waist, making my way to the nearest wall because god damn did i want her. Tomorrow I'll be kicking myself in the ass because I refused to do this while things were so fucked. But I couldn't help but give in.

2. With Her

“What level are you at?” Matt shouted from the living room. It was one in the morning and Ashley and Matt were playing some fantasy game he brought over to Ashley's. It was called Thorn Storm, or something like that.

“I am on that swagg level, yo.” Ashley said in her best thug impression.

“Why? You getting your ass kicked Matty?” I yelled from the kitchen.

Matt said no the same time Ashley said yes. I couldn't help but burst out laughing. Ashley has always been better at those kind of games than Matt was and you could tell he did not enjoy that very much, but he still attempted to beat her. Ignoring their frantic yelling about who was really kicking ass, I put on the oven mitt and took out the pizza rolls. I set them on the counter, ripping each one in half to let them cool off faster.

“You better not be ripping them apart!” Ashley screamed.

Busted. “Huh? I wasn't.”

“You are a bad liar.” Matt chuckled.

Ashley ran into the kitchen and slapped the pizza roll right out of my hand. “I refuse to eat your tainted rolls.”

“You know what-” I paused hearing my phone buzz.

I grabbed it, pressing the middle button to turn the screen on. It was a text from Jinx. 'What are you doing next Friday.' It read. Holy shit! Does she want to hang out? Stay cool Echo stay cool. It is just a normal text.

“Whatcha looking at huh?” Ashley winked at me. “Is it a text from Jinx?!”

“Bad liar.” Matt said once again. Damn you Matt.

I replied back with, 'nothing why?' and waited. Ashley tried reaching my phone over the island but I wouldn't let her put another grubby finger on this here precious phone of mine. We were not going to repeat what happened earlier today. She even splashed paint in my hair when we were painting her wall. The little girl is crazy.

“She asked me what I was doing Friday. No biggy.” I shrugged it off.

“L-I-A-R.” Matt spelled out, still playing the video game.

“Freaking shut up!” I yelled. “I hate when you know I am lying.”

My phone went off again. I read the text 'There is going to be this killer party going on and I wanted to know if you would be interested.' I do not do well with parties. I hardly ever go and when I do, it's because Ashley is a cheerleader and she gets invited to them all the time. She has to drag me by my feet to make me go to one. What was I going to do? My phone again went off, she had sent the address. That pushed me to say yes even more.

“She invited me go to a party with her.” I said.

“You have to go!” Ashley jumped up and down.

I sighed. “No way man.”

“We will help you get ready!” Ashley squealed.

“Oh hell no, I am not getting dragged in to this.” Matt said.

“Matt she needs a guys point of view.”

“Keep in mind that Jinx is a girl. She is trying to look good for her, not for a guy.”

“What is the difference?? Besides, she needs to look good for everyone!” Ashley glares at the back of Matt's head.

“Fine, I will come over Friday and you can doll me up.” I sighed again at Ashley. She always loves dressing me up.

The week went by super slow as I waited anxiously for Friday. And when it finally arrived I panicked. Everything was running in my head like, what if she only likes guys? What if she hates me? What if I do not wear the right clothes? I started to shake during lunch because the day was almost at a close which meant the party was coming up.

“Echo, you're shaking.” Someone said.

I looked at both Ashley and Matt. Neither of them said a thing, there mouths were just shaped as big 'O's and I was confused. I looked behind me slowly and it was jinx. I shook even more than I was before.

“You poor thing, here.” She took off her plain black crew neck sweatshirt and handed it to me. “Do not forget, party starts at 8:30. I'll be waiting.” She gave a flirtatious smile and walked away.

“Did that just-” Ashley started.

“I believe so.” Matt answered.

“I swear to do the best that I can to make you hot as hell for that woman.” Ashley put her hand over her heart.

Ashley dragged Matt and I home with her. She made Matt dig in her closet to find something 'simply perfect', her words exact. She pulled out a couple party dresses and I shook my head no, but she made me try them all on anyway. Matt shook his head no to all of them, saying they weren't me.

“Okay all knowing, you find something for the Majesty.” Ashley huffed.

He pulled out a black pair of skinny trips. The ones with all the chains and zippers. And A plain black button up shirt with a collar. “There.” He smiled when I tried it on.

“She cannot wear all black!” Ashley yelled.

“She does any other time.” He crosses his arms. “Anyway, it is more her style. Plus it is classy. Just make sure to tuck in the shirt.”

Matt pulled something white out of his bag. It was the tie I got him for his birthday last year. “This.” He helped me put it on.

“Classy as fuck.” I pretended to adjust the tie.

“And she looks like a lesbian, so maybe some guys will back off.” He shrugged and smiled at me.

I jumped on him and hugged him as hard as I could. “You are a genius! Thank you so much Matty.”

Ashley huffs. “You do look like a lesbian.” Then she laughs. “Now for hair. Matty?” I suppose she gave up on doing everything.

“Natural.” He said simply. “Because it is a combo of a little curly and a little wavy and slightly scrunched. It is messy but still classy for your boyish look.”

“Makeup? Mr. know at all.” Ashley asked.

“Again natural. You might ruin the boyish look with makeup.”

I laughed and looked in the mirror. He was right, if I wore make up I would look a little more girly and would ruin the tough tom boy look. I smiled because it did fit me so well and I looked badass. I hugged Matt once more than hugged Ashley. 'I love you' I mouthed to her. She gave a weak smile and mouthed 'I love you' back at me.

“I will drive you there.” Ashley said. “So you do not have to try to drive home drunk.”

“No, it's fine, I can drive myself. I might not want to drink, I look too good.” I laughed.

“Ha Ha. Lets go ego. I mean Echo.” She smirked, pushing me out of her bedroom and out the door.

She handed me the keys to my jeep “Good luck!” Matt yelled. “Oh and take this!” He threw Jinx's sweatshirt at me.

“Love yea!” I said, catching the sweatshirt.

“Party it up! And you have your cell if you need me.” Ashley was being very motherly.

“Thanks mother.” I smirked.

“Shut up!” She yelled and shut the door behind me.

I didn't have trouble finding the house because it was the only one with a party going on inside. I parked my jeep on the side of the road and sat there for a couple minutes, looking at myself in the rear view mirror. I look fine, I look great. I am strong, I am worth it. We will have fun dammit.

I finally gained the nerve to get out of the vehicle and walk up to the house, leaving the sweatshirt in the front seat. There were lights on and people talking in the front yard. There were solo cups laying on the ground everywhere and it was probably the same inside. I walked in and music immediately vibrated my whole body and it was actually a good feeling. I felt good and hopeful. I made my way through the crowd of people dancing and drinking and making out, looking for Jinx. She was sitting on a couch in what I assume was a living room. When she saw me she threw her hands up.

“Echo, you came!” She smiled, getting up from her seat. She looked great with her hair straight. She was wearing a red shirt with her leather jacket and black skinny jeans. I instantly began to shake. Was I too dressed up? I should of put on the sweatshirt.

I forgot about it right when she put her arms around my neck for a hug. It took me a minute to snap out of it but I hugged her back. “You look great.” She whispered in my ear. I felt my face get hot and I smiled. She let go and lead me to the couch, sitting beside me.

“Who is the hotty?” A girl giggled from in front of us.

“This is Echo.” Jinx said.

“Hey I am Max.” The girl smiled. “You look like you need this.” winking, she handed me a solo cup.

I took a sip, knowing it was alcohol. She was right, I did need this.

“I will be back.” Jinx told me, putting her hand on my knee. I said okay and she got up from the couch and walked away, leaving me alone with Max. I sat there not saying a word, just taking gulps of the mixed drink inside the red cup.

Finally, she spoke to me. “So, are you gay?”

I laughed. “Yeah.”

“I could tell. Your outfit screams lesbian.” She smiled. “So am I.”

I nodded my head. “Cool.”

She moved from her seat and sat beside me on the couch where Jinx sat before. “I think you're hot.” Max stated, placing her hand on my thigh.

I just sighed. “Thanks.” For some reason I always attracted the girls I never wanted.

It reminded me of the time I was at the mall and some random girl at the food court walked up to Ashley and I as we were sharing a pizza. You could tell she was a bit shy but she had called me cute and wanted to know if I wanted to go out some time. Ashley took my hand in hers, making it clear I was unavailable but the girl still stood there waiting for an answer. When Ashley said no the girl gave me a napkin with her name and number on it. 'Just in case' she said to me, winked and walked away to the group of people she came from. I laughed at Ashley and she told me that she did it because I hated breaking hearts and I was into Jinx. I don't know why but I aways remember that time when a girl tries a little too hard.

“Echo?” Max shook my leg, laughing. “You are so hammered.”

“I am really not.” I rolled my eyes. Was she stupid? No she was hammered. I haven't even finished my first drink.

I got up from the couch and walked away from Max. Where I was going, I didn't know, as long as I was away from her. Someone grabbed my forearm and I turned around.

“You aren't leaving already, are you?” Jinx looked disappointed.

“No, I was going to do a couple shots.” I lied.

“Oh? Not having that much fun huh?

“Just having a blast.” I said sarcastically.

She grabbed my hand and led me to the kitchen. “Wha-” I started to say, but I caught on, she was taking me to do shots.

We took seat on the bar stools in the kitchen. She poured vodka in little shot glasses and one after another we gulped them down. I stopped after five, which did nothing but buzz me up. Jinx did eight and started giggling.

“Come dance with me.” She played her flirty smile at me and I couldn't help but say yes. She grabbed my hand again and it gave me these butterflies. God what was I going to do with her.
