Now that's there's less than five hours left until 2014, you're probably scrambling to think of at least one thing to accomplish in the upcoming year. Meeting your favorite celebrity? Earn/save money? Or maybe it's simply being the best girlfriend/friend/daughter you can be. Here are ways to ensure you do everything you can to pursue these goals, and some ideas to quickly jot down before the clock strikes midnight.
(New Year's special)
1) Meet your favorite celebrity.
Maybe it's the beautiful boys of One Direction, or the short-haired vocalist, Miley Cyrus. No matter who you want to meet, chance is you won't be as lucky to meet them out on the street. If you are than I'm coming over! Meeting people like this isn't easy, I would know. Money is required, time, devotion. You need to have patience as well. The opportunity isn't going to just walk up and introduce itself.
Here is a efficient way to constantly remind yourself of your goal, just remember. No matter what you do, you can't do it without determination.
What to do-
Find a decently sized jar. Go online and look up your favorite artist concert tickets. (They're a plus. You get to see them perform and depending on which tickets you buy to who, you can meet them face to face!). Obviously, the larger the prize, the larger the jar. Take a permanent marker and section the jar off into sections, writing a set price beside each line. In parentheses, beside the prize, write what month you want to earn that amount by. If you keep it in sight (on a desk, dresser, etc.) it will motivate you to store money in it. Remember, save every penny, dime and nickel. Any coins. Most stores such as Walmart, Kroger, etc. have a machine which will deposit those coins into dollars which I know is much more efficient. Also, whenever you go shopping. Don't take all of your money with you. Take a set amount with a little extra and set an amount to spend, no more. This will ensure that you don't go to crazy. Seeing the money disappear before your eyes will limit how many things you buy and how expensive they are.
2) Lose weight.
Ah, here's the famous weight loss resolution. Now, let's be honest. It's hard to go through with and you won't have the perfect body no matter how hard you try. Everybody has their own unique figure and don't forget that while you work towards being more fit.
Any vegetables. I know they aren't the best tasting things but you can cook them to taste quite amazing. You just have to know how to prepare the foods. Did you know tomatoes are a vegetable? If you eat a burger, try it with tomato or find anything that would combine nicely with it. If you can't stand tomatoes, don't sweat it. A lot of people do.
Any fruit. Fruit is nearly as bad as vegetables, and most people who eat them don't realize how amazingly healthy they are. Strawberries, grapes, banana, apple. All delicious and good for you. Try mixing these fruit into a mix, or for a easily portable yet equally delicious snack, find a skewer, cut the fruit up and poke the end through them. Plus, it isn't to hard on the eyes either.
Black beans. High in protein, these are definitely a healthy choice. Now personally, I hate any type of bean so I wouldn't even consider eating this but if you can tolerate them, I recommend these. They're packed with fiber, which will keep you full and energized. They even have omega-3 fatty acid which will boost heart health.
Kale. Part of the veggie family, kale is another green. This is extremely good for you, fending off cancer. It's loaded with fiber and antioxidants, both amazing for your body. Kale is rich with vitamin K, which aids in blood clotting and cell growth. It makes a tasty additional to any salad. Tip- bake your kale with extra-virgin olive oil and sea salt as potato chip replacements.
Walnuts. This isn't for everybody, due to the large amount of people who are allergic. If you are lucky enough to not be, walnuts are extremely healthy for you. I'm not taking about walnuts in brownies...plain simple, out of the bag walnuts. Nuts tend to be high in calories and fat, but the monosaturated fat in nuts is healthier than the saturated fat in meat and dairy products. And their high omega-3-fatty-acid levels make them a go-to for heart health. A recent study also found that walnuts carry some of the highest antioxidant content among all nuts. Add it to your yogurt, cereal, or trail mix and you have a healthy...and delicious, snack.
Oh course there are many other foods but here are a few samples.
EXERCISE! Yes, that means you're going to sweat but in the end, the results are worth it. It can start with a five minute run, something not to stressful. Just remember to build yourself up from that. Don't jog/walk or run five minutes every time. Increase the time, and way you pursue it. For example, if you start out walking for twenty minutes, try jogging or running for ten-fifteen minutes. It's less time but harder to pursue because you're spending more breath. Don't forget your water. Stock up on it, as it will be your best friend. Water drains everything from your stomach, making sure nothing can turn to fat before leaving your body. Not to mention, who doesn't love a big glass of ice water after a run? Along with water, don't forget to stretch before diving into your workouts. If you don't, you could easily pull a muscle.
I recommend watching blogilates on youtube if you want some real exercises that will put you to the test for your own benefit.
Way to motivate yourself- Set a goal. If you lose say five pounds in a month, give yourself a small prize. Maybe a small bag of chips or a small slice of cake.
3) Develop a better relationship with one of your parents.
Nowadays you don't see a perfect family, well very rarely anyways. They're either split or the child has a more secure relationship with one and not the other. Unless your mother or father did something terrible to you, there's no reason you can't try and rekindle your relationship between you and them. Divorce doesn't count as doing something terrible, don't forget. Start out with something simple, call them, or text if you're not comfortable with talking. Once you start doing it on a daily basis, it will become natural and soon you'll have a strong, well-working relationship with whomever you chose.
Way to motivate yourself to continue on- Set a reminder on your phone to call/text this person. Try not to back away. Just a quick hello, or a small five minute talk will begin tearing down that wall you both have been building up.
I hope you guys have an amazing 2014 and I'll try to do a double or triple update :)
