Being heart-broken isn't fun. While later in our moping, we'll realize we are now single and can have all the fun with flirting we want, there's still that extremely long period where all you can do is cry and eat ice cream. Not the healthiest but the most soothing for the soul. Let's be honest, nobody expects you to eat fruits and vegetables when you've lost somebody you care about. Hopefully with these tips, you can get back on your feet and be the happiest you can be. Just don't rush it. It takes time to get over hurt, you may be crying for a few hours, or a few days. Cry until you know you're ready to push yourself back up and start again.
Essential #1- Ice cream.
Why- Nobody is expecting you to be munching on carrot sticks when you've had your heart broken. Don't worry, pig out. Ice cream is like a band-aid to the soul, gently covering each scar he left. Stock up on all of your favorite kinds, lock yourself in your room, watch sad movies and eat your feelings away.
Essential #2- Movies.
Why- Now, with me I'd probably read a few books than watch a movie store full of movies. It just makes a person feel better. Choose any movie you want, or maybe it's your all-time favorite. Or, a sappy romance movie. No matter what, it distracts us for those couple of hours.
Essential #3- Tissues.
Why- Chances are you won't be happy about it. If you want to cry, go ahead and cry. Don't be embarrassed, shed tears if needed. Just make sure tissues are near when you do so you don't flood the room.
Essential #4- Warm blankets and pillows.
Why- Cuddling up with blankets is your next best alternative. Wrap yourself in their warmth and create your own little inpenetrable bubble. Right now would be the perfect time to pull out your favorite stuffed animal, or maybe it's the old frayed blankie from when you were young. You may not realize it, but having those items near you will give you memories of the days that are years past.
Essential #5- Any electronic device you can go onto the internet with.
Why- Isn't it self explanatory? Movies won't satisfy your saddened period forever. When you need a break from staring at the movie screen for hours, whip out your phone, tablet, laptop or whatever you have with you. Go onto Youtube, or maybe Tumblr. Anything to distract from the one thing no girl would want to be thinking about.
Essential #6- ...MUSIC!
Why- Whether it be the classic Taylor Swift album, or an empowering song, music will make any girl feel better. It clears your mind and allows you to relax, simply focusing on the beautiful music. It doesn't have to be We are never ever getting back together, it could be your favorite song. Just try to stray from songs about happy couples...that might be a bad idea. Just saying.
Salute by Little Mix.
We are who we are by Little Mix.
We are never ever getting back together by Taylor Swift.
I knew you were trouble by Taylor Swift.
22 by Taylor Swift.
Oath by Cher Lloyd.
Try Hard by 5 Seconds of Summer.
Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus.
Heart Attack by Demi Lovato.
How to be a heart breaker by Marina and the diamonds.
Essential #7- A good friend.
Why- Once more, pretty self explanatory. Find your closest friend, and if they're truly your friend than they'll lend you a shoulder to cry on. Friends are an amazing thing to have when it comes to these types of things. They'll motivate you to stand back up and help you realize you don't need a guy to make you complete.
Essential #8- Magazines.
Why- Maybe it's the girl's who secretly trash talk their exes or maybe it's the pictures of hot boys but magazines are any girls must. Let the pages distract you from your problems for a few hours. Stock up on teen magazines (J-14, tigerbeat, M) but don't forget the other classics (Seventeen!, Teen Vogue, GL).
