"Mommy! Mommy!" I felt little arms pat at my shoulder. I opened my eyes lazily to see Emily, her eyes wide with excitement. I smiled and picked her up.
"What's wrong sweetie?"
"Uncle Tanner said you and Ni Ni are still going to get married! I'm going to have two daddy!"
She giggled and I passed her over to Niall who still lay asleep under me. My body was on top of his, my head resting on his chest. Emily his face in both of her hands and smoothed his cheeks concave. Niall woke up and started to tickle, her hysterical laughs being the only noise drifting through the room.
"Ni Ni, stop!" She pleaded giggling. He removed his hands from her. Emily jumped off of him and disappeared into the kitchen, her sneakers illuminating pink lights with every step she took.
I leant my head back again. I could hear Niall's heart beat as his chest rose up and down at a steady rhythm. I sighed.
"Annalise darling, should we get up? It's almost dinner time."
I sighed louder. I couldn't keep lying to him. Every second more I spent with him was a knife digging a tenth of a centimeter deeper into my heart.
I leant my head back slightly, our eyes meeting.
"As long as Tanner is here, I don't think we have to worry about food." I wrapped my hands around his waist and buried my face into his chest. Niall stroked my hair.
It was moments like these that I just wanted to freeze and stay forever.
But moments like these wont happen as often now.
At least not with Niall.
"This is great Tan." I said taking another bite of my roast. My brother was quite the cook. He just has the talent of taking gross ingredients and making it delicious.
Tanner thanked me his ego getting the best of him. He started to talk proudly of his achievements in culinary arts and how lucky we must be to have him. I rolled my eyes. Emily stared at him in amazement, her mind being so easily intrigued and hungry for new ideas.
The door bell rang loudly, startling us all and even causing Tanner to stop talking. Niall got up and disappeared into the foyer. I decided to follow him, ignoring his objections.
Niall opened the door revealing Zayn, his face welled with tears. He was panting and gripping the hem of his tee shirt tightly.
"Niall, it's Harry. There's been an accident! We need to get to the hospital right now!" Zayn wailed. He grabbed me and Niall's arms and pulled us out of the house and down my driveway to a van. Liam was driving, his face stone cold. Louis was in the passenger seat, his knees pulled up to his chest and his face buried between them. I hoped into the back next to Niall, who had already began to cry. They weren't sobs, just silent crying. Silent crying was more painful honestly. It's a sign of being so shocked and disoriented you have no motivation to sob.
I shifted awkwardly on the leather seats. Everyone was crying around me, even Liam couldn't stop his tears, yet I was sitting there doing nothing, feeling nothing. How could I be so selfish?
"Is he alright?" I asked the doctor as soon as he came out. He glanced up, his glasses sitting on the tip of his nose. He looked at me with tired eyes.
"Mr.Styles hit his head pretty hard." The doctor said putting his clipboard under his arm. He looked around at us. "He doesn't remember a lot. But luckily, his brain just jolted. His memory will be back in a short time. Two or three weeks at there most. He's a lucky man."
Everyone sighed in relief.
"Does he know who we are?" Liam asked. The doctor looked down at his clipboard once again and I wondered how many times he had looked down tiredly through his old glasses at that clipboard. Probably too many times.
"Um, yes, he asked for a certain Annalise?" He looked back up at me. "I'm guessing that's you?"
I nodded my head slowly.
He smiled lightly and said, "Follow me."
The doctor led me down a wide hallway. The two barrier walls were covered in doors. Stretchers were set next to the walls, making the hall seem narrow and crowded.
As we approached the door I felt my heart pound harder than it ever has. The doctor put a hand on my shoulder and spoke in a low tone. "He really wanted to see you. He wouldn't stop talking about you and how he missed you and his daughter. Mr.Styles is quite in love you Miss."
I managed a painful smile.
The doctor nodded and opened the door. I walked in and sat down next to Harry's bed. He was laying peacefully, his eyes shut. Wires were attached to his fingers and chest and they led back to big machines that made all types of faint sounds. White gauze was around his head and his arm was elevated in a sling.
I intertwined my fingers with his and his eyes opened automatically. As soon as he saw me, he smiled radiantly, and I couldn't help but smile too.
"Annalise. My love. Your here." Harry leant up and bed and pulled me into an embrace. I stood awkwardly in his hug. I shouldn't be doing this. I shouldn't.
"Oh Annalise you don't know how much I wanted to see you but the paramedics told me you weren't there and they had to help me first. It was so painful Annalise. Not because of my head or arm but because you weren't there. Oh Annalise I love you. I love you, and I'm glad your here." He buried his head into my neck, his curls tickling my skin. I felt his hot tears run down my the crane of my neck.
"Oh Harry, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I came as soon as I could. I...I...I love you too." I swallowed back a sob, closing my eyes briefly. When I opened them again, my vision was blurry. He hugged me tighter.
He pulled away and stared at me. Our lips joined and for once, it felt familiar and right. I didn't know why, it just did.
"I love you so much Annalise." Harry said breaking the kiss. He pushed our foreheads together, our breaths lingering in the small space that was available.
"I love you too."
With that, we were kissing again.
"Is he okay?" Niall asked rushing over to me. He seized my shoulders and looked at me with worry.
"He's fine." I said as soon as the rest of the boys approached me. "Just a little tired. We'll be able to take him home tomorrow. But he still doesn't know you guys. He only remembers me and Emily and his family. I don't know why but he'll be better soon. I promise."
The boys sighed in relief and all of them hugged me tightly. I felt like I was five ten again and at my dad's funeral. Everyone upset and surrounding me, pulling me into embraces and saying they were sorry over and over again.
"So, should he just go to Annalise's house?" Louis asked wiping his cheeks with the back of his hand.
"I guess." Niall said through gritted teeth.
"Niall, it'll be fine but Simon needs us down for a signing in Ireland tomorrow. We have to go."
He scowled to himself and looked over at me. I nodded in approval.
"Fine." He scoffed rolling his eyes. "Only if Louis stays with her."
I looked over at Louis who looked confused. We barely knew each other.
"Okay. Whatever you say." Louis shrugged going over to Zayn. They started to chat in low tones.
"Annalise? I'll be gone for only a week and a half. I'll call you everyday. I promise." He said kissing my forehead tenderly.
"Niall, this isn't the first time your leaving me home. I can manage." I spit out. He leant away, taken aback by my harshness.
"Did anything happen in there?"
"Okay. Well we have to go. I'll see you later." He kissed my cheek and left with Liam and Zayn. I walked over to Louis and sat down exhausted in the cushioned chair. I curled up into the corner of the chair.
"Are you cold?" Louis asked. His eyes were droopy, just like the doctor's.
He wrapped his jacket around my shoulders and I snuggled into the comfortable fabric.
And there I slept, Louis' jacket draped around me and his arms wrapped around me.
