The Quest for my Father

I have lived my whole life at Greenwood. I have never been outside the back gates. I have never ridden a bike or a scooter. I have never seen a car or a bus. I have never had more than a pair of socks as a present on Christmas and my birthday. I have never had a sleepover or a party. And I have never met my parents. My name is Zaira Meltia.

5. Tuning, Adoption, and Horrible Surprises

I sat in my room the next morning tuning my guitar. Ratiant was lying on her bed looking at a fashion magazine, eating some watermelon candy that she found downstairs in the kitchen. Ratiant seemed surprisingly quiet, though I could almost understand it because she was looking at a new collector's edition Teen Gossip magazine. And trust me, she really takes those magazines seriously. "Hey, you really should wear more beanies Zaira. Teen Gossip says they look great on brunettes, and Teen gossip is NEVER WRONG." See what I mean? "But what if they are wrong?" I really regretted saying that after I heard the answer. "WHAT DID YOU SAY!!! THEY ARE NEVER WRONG!!! NEVER!!!!!!" "OK,OK. I get it." I said, about to sit down on my bed, but then nearly jumped. "ZAIRA!!" Mrs. Sheldon yelled from downstairs. "Coming Mrs. Sheldon." I yelled back downstairs. I put my guitar on my bed and ran downstairs. I came downstairs to see Mrs. Sheldon and Mrs. Alan standing next to a very formal dressed couple. "Zaira, meet your new family."
