7. Letters, Backpacks, and a Quiet Night
Ratiant seemed pretty shocked. I don't think she wanted to leave. I think she wanted to stay here and wait to get adopted. But I had a really long talk with her and finally she agreed to help me out.
"But when would we go? We can't exactly ask Mrs. Sheldon 'Hey, is it OK if we go on a quest to find Zaira's dad because she doesn't want to be adopted?'. And people are always on the watch for her. So what do we do?" Ratiant asked. "Well, actually I do know a lot about the staff, and something I know is that all the guards go to sleep at midnight. Maybe at about 12:15 we can go out through the window." "Or maybe we should go now." I said staring at her sternly. "What?! No we can't do that!! They'll know and then they'll be searching all throughout the city for us! We have to go tonight at midnight!" Ratiant yelled shocked. " Shh!! Keep your voice down! Listen, I know what I'm doing. Now pack your things!" I told her even more sternly than before. "Alright! Fine!"
We left that night. I compromised with her and we left at ten, when all the guards took there dinner break. We walked through the city and it was a while before we made it to our first stop...
