I stood outside Maggie's door for 30 minutes and 27 seconds when Jacob and Kien ran up to me.
"What took you guys?" I asked, my feet tracing the path I had been pacing for the past half and hour.
"Sorry." Jacob muttered putting his hand on the back of his neck. "We couldn't shake those boys, besides how bad could it be?"
I stopped pacing wielding around, clenching my fist tight. "She wouldn't talk to me."
"That's normal." Kien said taking a step forward. "Maggie has always wanted to comfort herself, she's a little bit of a loner."
I take a step towards him, looking down on Kien. "She let Niall in there with her!"
Jacob nearly lept at the door. "How the-"
"I don't know." I sighed, holding him back. "But it worries me."
Kien leaned his ear against the door. "I don't hear anything. Maybe Maggie already got to him."
"No." Jacob cried struggling against me. "This is to soon, our instructor will not let her pass the test! She'll never be allowed back home!"
My heart lept into my thrat, I didn't want to lose Maggie either, she was basically a little sister to me. "Fine." I growled. "Let's go in and see the damage."
"We got to surprise her." Kien said. "Jacob you wnt to kick down the door?"
Without an answer Jacob slipped out of my arms, kicking the door down with ease. I lept over him to see Maggie standing next to the far wall and Niall was sitting on the bed. Maggie's blue eyes were wide with fear. If he hurt her I was going to kill him myself!
"What happened Maggie?" Jacob growled, his fist clenched.
"N-Nothing." Maggie stuttered, shooting Niall a glance. She didn't think I say it, but I did at least.
Jacob's green eyes sharpened. "Don't lie to me Maggie. What happened?"
Niall stood up. "Nothing happened, we just watched a movie and talked."
I watched Maggie, something was off about her. She had never lied to us before, why would she start now?
He walked towards the door turning to face Maggie. "I'd love to finish our conversation tomorrow." He winked playfully at her, causing Kien, Lucas and I to clench our fist. "If you want to."
"That would be great." Maggie smiled. She was flirting with him!
"How about Nandos at 5?" Niall asked.
Maggie nodded. "See you there Horan."
He smiled. "It's a date."
He turned and walked out of the room leaving Maggie standing by herself. The second Niall shut the door Jacob pounced on Maggie. "Now what really happened?"
Maggie struggled out of his grip laughung. "Really Jacob? Niall already told you."
Kien narrowed her eyes. "Then why were you flirting with him?"
Maggie frozed for a second. "I-I wasn't."
Kien's fist shook lightly. "Yes you were Maggie. Don't lie to me, I saw the way you looked at him."
"Kien." Maggie muttered, taking a step towards him.
"Don't." Kien said backing away. "Just leave me alone."
"Kien." Maggie cried. "Please-."
Kien just shook him head walking out. Maggie shot a pleading look at Jacob and I.
"Mags." Jacob started, his green eyes blazing. I put a hand on his shoulder stopping him.
"I'll talk to her." I mutter in his ear. "You go talk to Kien."
Jacob nodded. He gave Maggie a quick hug before heading out the door towards his and Kien's room. Maggie watched him go, her blue-green eyes dull.
"What happened?" I asked her quietly, shutting the door so that no one could hear anything she had to say.
"I-I can't tell you Lucas." She muttered. "It doesn't effect anything."
I look her hard in the eye, her eyes drilling back at me, not giving anything away. "Promise?"
She nodded. "I promise."
I lean over giving her a hug. She squeezed me back, not letting go. "What about Kien?"
"He'll come around." I laughed, pulling away, but keeping my arm around her shoulders. "He's just jealous."
"Of what?" Maggie asked.
"You and Niall." I muttered, feeling the twinge of jealously. "You let him in, and kept me out."
"Oh Lucas." Maggie murmured. "Niall just doesn't know anything about my past, it's easier to pretend it isn't real around him."
"Is that what you want?" I ask not looking her in the eye. "For our past to just disappeared, to not know Kien or me."
"Never." Maggie said firmly. "I wouldn't trade you guys for anything. No matter what the price is."
"Promise?" I ask again smiling.
Maggie shot me a smile back. "I promise."
My heart twisted with each word I said, each lie I told. I looked up into Lucas's hazel eyes wanting to tell him, but the feeling of Niall's lips on mine was still there. That memory I would never trade anything for. I would never tell the boys, not until I had to.
My head screamed at me to tell him, to trust him. "One day." I tell myself. "One day he will know and understand."
Until then I will lie, to my friends, to my brothers. All for a crush, no all for love.
