"Morning," I say, walking into the kitchen. I feel happier than usual this morning. "Someones in a good mood." Erika smiles and I shrug. "What are you making?" I walk over to the fridge to pour a glass of juice. "Pancakes. Want some?" She puts the pancakes that were on the frying pan onto a plate, placing it on the counter. "Sure," I thank her, taking the plate and placing it on the kitchen table. "Did you watch the news yet today?" I shake my head. "No, why?" I look at her suspiciously before she sat down with her pancakes and continued. "Our party is all over it." I raise my eyebrows. "Well, we shouldn't be too shocked because, you know, the worlds famous boy-band One Direction showed up," I put a fork-full of pancakes in my mouth.
"What do you want to do today?" I shrug, putting my plate in the sink. "Where's Claire?" I walk over to Erika who was leaning against the entrance of the kitchen. "Still sleeping." I swear sometimes I think my sister is a vampire. She once slept all day and woke up at 9pm, then stayed up until 7am. "Let's go have a picnic at the park," Erika nods and I walk upstairs to Claire's room. As of my prediction, she is still sleeping. I walk over to her bed and pull the sheets off her. "What the hell!" She yells, giving me a death glare. "It's 1 in the afternoon, get your lazy ass out of bed. We're going out." Groaning she nodded, slowly sitting up and walking to her closet. "Come down when you're ready." I say, shutting her door behind me. I walk into my room and grab my phone from the end table. 2 messages. I open up the first one who was from mom.
We'll be home soon, visiting grandma Rose in the hospital. Tell Claire sorry we weren't home for her birthday.
I reply back with a 'Okay." and move on with the next message.
You're party is all over the news. Sorry this band needs to learn how to sneak around. H.xx
Rolling my eyes -- while smiling-- I reply back,
Yeah, you guys really do. it's okay x
I slide my phone in my back pocket and make my way downstairs, missing a step which almost had me face-plant the floor. "Have a nice fall?" Erika says, laughing. "Shut up. Are you ready?" I walk in the kitchen looking at the empty basket. "Why is the basket empty?" I turn to look at Erika. "I was getting ready!" I roll my eyes -- a thing I do regularly-- and quickly start making some sandwiches. "You know, this would go faster if there was more than one person making the food," Erika walks over to me and starts helping.
"Okay, i'm ready." Claire says, walking into the kitchen. "Okay," I finish putting the food and drinks into the basket and pass it to Erika. "Let's go." I grab the keys and walk out the door, locking it behind me. "Are we walking over driving?" I shrug. "How far is the park?" Erika shrugs. "Not that far." "Walking it is, then." We then notice 3 girls standing outside our house, looking at us. "Who are they?" We all look at each other and walk over. "Hi, why are you girls standing outside our house?" The blonde girl smiles. "Are the boys still here?" I look at her and shake my head. "No, they left yesterday. They wont be coming back so, you're going to be wasting your time standing out here." I say, as politely as I could. They all nod and say bye, walking down the street. "That was strange." I nod in agreement. "Very."
We got to the park and looked around. "Where do you want to sit?" Claire points over to a large tree. "What about over there? It has a lot of shade." We nod and start walking over there. I grab the blanket I had put in a bag and lied it down on the grass. Suddenly, a girl who looks about 12 runs over to me. "Are you Jenna Harris?" I scrunch up my eyebrows and nod. "How do you know my name?" She just smiles. "Your party is all over the news. Are you friends with One Direction?" I was shocked. All of this is happening just because One Direction arrived at the party. "Yes," I answer her, truthfully."Can I get a picture with you?" I can see the excitement in her eyes. "I don't do pictures. What about an autograph?" She nods and I sign her notebook. "There you go," I smile, politely and she hugs me. I look over at Erika who looks pretty surprised that all of this is happening. it's all new to us. I hug her back and she runs back to her mother, who is sitting at a bench. "This is getting weird. We aren't even famous." I nod in agreement and sit down.
The rest of the picnic went smoothly. We had a few stares from people walking by but no one else came up to us. We get up, packing everything away. I automatically pull my phone out of my pocket, looking at the time. "It's only 5pm. Do you want to hang out here or head back home?" I ask, also noticing I have a message.
What are you up to? H.xx
I decided to text Harry everything that happened today, not leaving out one detail. "Let's head back home. I don't want to get mobbed right now," she jokes. We start walking back home. This is so surreal. I have never had someone come up to me before for an autograph. I know I hung out with One Direction but it doesn't make me famous. All of this is strange to me.
We walk up the steps and I unlock the door. I sigh, sitting down on the couch. "What do you want to do, now?" I ask, turning on the TV and flip through the channels. "Want to watch a movie?" I shrug, looking up at her. "Sure," we decide on The Notebook. "Let's make popcorn!" Claire says, walking quickly to the kitchen. Just then, the door opened. I quickly walk over to the door to see mom and aunt Tracy, eyes red and puffy; like they have been crying. "What happened?" I ask, getting worried.
"Your grandmother...she died."
