8. Break of Dawn

   Legolas's P.O.V

I woke up the next morning to the beginning of an early morning sunrise. The early morning sun cast a warm glow across the tips of the trees. The light plastered heavily along the walls and floor of the dark room. The sky was still fairly dark from the night. I looked over to my side. Aquilia was still laying the same way she was when we went back to bed. "Aquilia. Wake up. We have to go." I said as I gently shook Aquilia. "But I'm so tired." She moaned and rolled over onto her other side. "Aquilia we have to get up. We are helping the dwarves, remember?" I said. Aquilia got up. "Rigghht." She said. I got my bow and arrow while Aquilia combed out her hair and tied it back up again. Aquilia got her knives and bag and we got our shoes back on and went over to the room the dwarves were staying in. I knocked on the door. "Are you dwarves up yet?" I asked. The door opened. "We're ready to go." The master said. "Okay. We will go out the same way you came in. You grab your horses and meet us out front. We're going to get our horses." I said. "Alright. GUYS!" He shouted as the dwarves got into position. We walked through the halls and down the stairs. Occasionally I would look to my side and spot Kili staring at Aquilia. I decided to do something about it. I slowly made my way over to Kili. "I don't care if you like the girl or not. You stay away from her or your going to get one of my arrows through your heart." I hissed at Kili. "Whatever to say elf." He said. I stopped dead in my tracks to only have him glare back at me and snicker. I was quickly filling my insides with anger. We came downstairs to where my father was walking around. He looked up and saw me and motioned for me to come over. "Meet me at the horse stables." I told Aquilia. She nodded and continued walking. I walked over to my father. "Legolas. Take good care of Aquilia and make sure she doesn't get hurt. I can tell she is a very special girl." He said. I felt my face go red. "Oh and just in case, take these." He said, handing me four crystal marbles. "If you are ever in grave danger, tell it where you want to go and throw it into the distance. A portal should open up. Just walk through it and it will close when you walk through it. Use them wisely." "What if a portal oesn't open up?" I asked. "Then you may have to collect them back and seek help by foot." I nodded. "I wish you all good luck." My father said as I gave him a goodbye hug. I walked out with the dwarves. "Keep a close eye on your girl there. She's a cutie." One of the dwarves said. "My father already told me the same thing." I said. The dwarf nodded. "Your father is very wise. Take that as a benefit." He said as we walked out of the kingdom. I walked out back to where Aquilia was. "What were you and your father talking about?" She asked. "He just gave me these marbles. Thats all." I said, not wanting to tell her about what he said about her. I got Amadeus out of his stall. "Would you like a horse or do you perfer to fly?" I asked Aquilia. "I'll fly. I don't want to risk losing another horse after I already lost one." She said. "She died?" I asked. Aquilia shook her head. "I tried attempting a sharp turn and got thrown off in the process. Since then, Abigail has been missing."  "Would you like us to help you find her on the way to the dwarves home?" I asked as I hopped onto Amadeus. "That would be very much appreciated. Aquilia said while she walked alongside me. I reached into my jacket and took out a necklace. It was a gift from my mother. She died when I was a baby. "There's something I want to give you." I said to Aquilia. She turned around to look at me. I put my hand out. "Open your hand." I said. Aquilia opened her hand and I put the necklace in it and took my hand back. Aquilia stared at the necklace and started shaking her head. "It's your mother's. I can't accept this." She said and went to hand it back to me. "No no no. Please. Take it." I said as I cupped her hand in mine and closed her hand. She looks into my eyes and they start to tear up. "Thank you." She says as She wraps her arms around me. I hug her back. Squeezing her body, but not too tight. We pull apart after a few seconds. "Would you mind putting it on me?" She asked. "Yes, of course." I say happily and she gives me the necklace. Aquilia pulls her hair up and I pull the necklace around her neck. It takes me a few seconds and I fasten it on her. She put's her hair down. "Beautiful. Just like you." I say as I look Aquilia in the eye and smile. She smiles and blushes. She gives me another hug and we walk back outside to where the dwarves are waiting for us. "Why don't you have a horse?" Kili asks. "Because I have these." Aquilia said as she took a step away from me and revealed her black wings. "Wow." The dwarves said. "Aren't black wings supposed to mean you are part of the dark side?" Asked Mr. Baggins. "Yes they are but I just love black wings so thats what I got." Aquilia said. "So. Shall we start our journey?" The master asked. "Yes. The sooner we start, the sooner we finish." I said.
