27. Back to the Past

      Aquilia's P.O.V

After Legolas get's back, we are on the road again. This time, I walk at the back of the line. Legolas is at my side as usual. I don't make eye contact with him, I just stare down at my feet as we walk. I feel a million eyes on me but I don't look up. I don't want to make eye contact with anybody.

I guess Legolas must have been getting annoyed because he speaks up suddenly. "Aquilia, what on earth is bothering you?? You won't eat, you won't talk to anybody, you're walking around like something just killed you inside. what's gotten into you?" He says sternly. I look up at him, his icy blue eyes filled with concern and horror. My hands begin to get clammy with sweat. "Can we talk about this later?" I ask nervously. "No. I want to know now." He answers. "Fine." I answer back in a hiss and space ourselves from the rest of the group. "I was talking to Kili in the middle of the night last night. I heard him making his way over to us but you were asleep. He was asking me why I chose you over him because apparently, he thinks I'm better off with him and not you." I say with no emotion in my voice. Legolas turns his head to look at Kili.and shakes his head. He stares back at me angrily. "Why didn't you wake me?!" He asks. "I wanted to let you sleep and I didn't want to cause a fight in the middle of the night." I answer. Legolas's face softens and nods at me. "I need to go speak to Thorin. Will you be alright here for a few minutes?" He asks. I nod and he gives me a hug. Legolas walks up to the front of the line and catches up with Thorin. I turn my attention away and stare out into the distance on my sides. I could only imagine what drama would be coming my way.

      Legolas's P.O.V

I catch up to Thorin and quickly get his attention. He looks up and smiles at me. "Hello Legolas." He says warmly. I don't smile. "Is there something wrong?" He asks. I give him a nod. "Can we pull over for a minute? I don't want the others to hear." I say. Thorin and I pull over which makes everyone else stop. "Talk amongst yourselves for a bit." Thorin says and the dwarves turn their backs. He turns back to me and nods. "I was talking to Aquilia about what has been going on with her. She wasn't eating this morning, she woke up early in the morning and just seemed so tired and gloomy. She looked as if something was eating away at her from the inside out." Thorin looks at me with a blanket of seriousness on his face. "Did she tell you what was bothering her?" He asked quietly, his eyes dancing from one of my eyes to the other. "Yes she did. I was just speaking to her about it. She said she was speaking with Kili in the middle of the night. She said he asked her why she was with me and not with him." I said. Thorin looks over at the dwarves and searches for Kili. "Kili!" He shouts. Kili's head shoots up and once he looks over. Once our eyes meet, he rolls his eyes and walks over. "What is this that Legolas is telling me about what you were doing, talking to Aquilia in the middle of the night last night about her and Legolas?" He asked. "All I was wanting to know was what she sees in Legolas. I wasn't trying to give her the wrong idea." He says. "Kili, you don't understand. You do this with everyone you meet!" Thorin says. Kili looks back at Thorin curiously. as he crosses his arms. "And how exactly is that wrong?" Kili asks. "Because you know very well that Aquilia is happy with Legolas. Didn't she mention that at all to you?" He asked. Kili nervously looks back down at the ground. "Yeah, I guess she did." He answered. "But I still don't see what the-" I pull out my knives and lay them on Kili. I snake one knife behind his neck and the other one just under his jaw. Kili glances horrified at the blade and starts to madly shake. My eyes are wide and my body is boiling with anger. I have to fight with myself not to let the blade touch his throat. My breathing is becoming uneasy. I feel a bit of a sweat coming on. "Legolas!" Thorin orders. I snap out of my daze and take my hands away from Kili. He's still looking at me horrified. I look over at Thorin unhappy and then back at Kili. "Legolas, keep your weapons off of Kili, and Kili, stop with your flirting nonsense. It's very rude." Thorin orders. "Fine." Kili says. "I don't say anything. I slip my blades back into their sockets and walk back to Aquilia. She's playing with her blades when she looks up at me. "Everything is all sorted out." I say. "How did you do it?" She asks. "Well, I suppose I could say I think Kili is afraid of me now." Aquilia's eyes widen. "Don't tell me..." She says shaking her head. "I layed my blades on him." I said. "You are so badass Legolasss....I don't know your last name." She says, dropping her finger. "My last name is Greenleaf." I say. "You are so badass Legolas Greenleaf." She says, giggling. I can't help but laugh. I pull her into a hug and rock her back and forth. She looks up at me and smiles. "You are such a badass." She says. I burst into laughter. "Then maybe my middle name should be Legolas Badass Greenleaf." I say, jokingly. Aquilia bursts into hysterical laughter which causes me to laugh with her. "I love your laugh." I say. "Thank you. That is one of my many talents." I look down at her, one eyebrow raised. "Oh really, I gotta hear this story!" I say. "Nope nope nope!!!!" Aquilia says. I quickly pull her back and we're laughing again. "I love you so much." I say and I pull her in for a kiss.
