“Try not to break the door!” mum yelled at my brother that had just walked in. I felt my whole body shaking. I stared anxiously at my mother but she wasn’t looking at me anymore. She stood up and made her way toward the hall where he still was. I made the same and followed her; my heart beating faster and faster as I got closer to where he was standing. When I first saw him, he was looking down at the floor so I couldn’t see his eyes. I grabbed my mother’s arm and squeezed it tight; I had been waiting for so long and I wasn’t sure I was ready to see two lost members of my family the same day. I was close to collapse on the floor.
A few seconds later, he looked up and our eyes met. But I gasped with horror; I expected to meet the blue eyes I last saw a long time ago but the eyes looking in mine were brown. There was something wrong.
“You’re not Niall,” I muttered sharply as I tried to look at mum who was avoiding my eyes. The brunette boy shook his head and held his hand out.
“Nope. I’m Will,” he introduced himself. I shook his hand slowly while repeating his name in my head. Will. But who the hell was he? He yelled “mum” a while ago, didn’t he? It couldn’t mean...
“And you are?” he asked me, smiling widely. I blinked many times surprised, before finally reply.
“I’m Ciara.” I tried to smile but I just couldn’t.
“Will...” mum spoke in a whisper,”Ciara is your sister.” He stopped smiling straight away. “Ciara, Will is your little brother. Well, your step-brother.”
“My sister?” he repeated, as shocked as I was. Mum nodded, looking down at her hands.
“She’s Niall’s twin.” I thought Will would fall on the floor but he somehow managed to stay on his feet.
“Niall’s twin? But...” he didn’t finish his sentence as he was way too surprised.
“Can I have an explanation? And how old is he? Who’s the father?” I hastily asked her. I needed answers.
“Please, calm down Ciara...” mum told me, putting her hand on my forearm. “I came in London after your dad and I broke up twenty years ago and a few years later, I met someone and I married him. Will is his child and he’s now 18,” she summed up very quickly. All I could do was nod.
A long silence followed her short explanation and I could feel Will’s stare on me all along. But a while later, he shook his head and coughed loudly.
“Mum... I just remember that Niall sent me a text a short time ago. He told me he forgot something here last time he came and that he would come to get it back today.”
“When did he send it?” she replied quickly.
“About fifteen minutes ago, I guess.” He shrugged his shoulders. My eyes widened as he finished his sentence. This meant Niall would arrive at any moment.
“I think I’ll go...” I stuttered. I knew that seeing Niall was all I wanted since all this year but I couldn’t take anything more today. I just learned I had a eighteen years old brother; it was enough.
“But...Ciara! Wait till Niall come!” Mum yelled but I shook my head and ran toward the front door.
But as I rushed outside, I bumped into someone.
