I sat up and stared at Ciara walking away while looking down at her phone to answer the call. She stood meters away from me and I could only see her back. Now that she was away, I sighed loudly; why her phone had to ring? It was just a perfect moment, just the tow of us lying on the grass and watching the starry night. Whoever called her ruined everything.
I couldn’t hear what she was saying but I just stared at her; I couldn’t watch anywhere else. But why...? No, I just can’t. She’s Niall’s sister. Why can’t I stop thinking about her since I met her yesterday? I don’t even know her! Well, now that I think about it, Niall doesn’t know her that much either. I shook my head abruptly and tried to look away from her. But I couldn’t; I just couldn’t.
I looked back at her and noticed she had turned around so I could see her face. But she seemed to be yelling angrily. I caught some words she shouted but it didn’t make sense to me. I heard “son”, “true” and “years”. What did she talk about? A short while afterwards, she hung up abruptly and I could hear her crying. She looked in my direction but made her way toward the nearest bench and collapsed on it, burying her head in her hands. I stood up and walked slowly toward her though I didn’t know what I should do or tell her. I sat down beside her and before I could even open the mouth or move, she spoke,
“Maybe he was right. I shouldn’t have come here.” She lifted her head up and looking blankly in front of her, tears still flowing down on her cheeks. She carried on, “I spent so much time just to find a way to look for him but what now? I found him but he’s only a stranger. I don’t know what to do. Maybe it was a mistake to look for him.”
“How can you say something so stupid?” I accidentally shouted what I was thinking. I covered my mouth with my hands as she turned her head to look at me.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to say that!” I apologized quickly.
I expected her to yell at me but I would never have thought she would start laughing. I stared at her surprised by her reaction as she kept laughing though tears still were streaming down her face.
“Are you alright?” I asked, stunned. She shook her head and replied smiling.
“Yes, I am. It’s just that...you’re right. I shouldn’t have said that... I can’t regret now something I waited for all my life.” She sighed and looked up at sky.
She closed her eyes and whispered, “I don’t understand why my father doesn’t care about Niall any more. He said I’m not a part of his life now, so neither is he. But I don’t get it... Shouldn’t a father be happy when he meets his son again?”
“He should, that’s obvious. But if your father had seen Niall, he wouldn’t have reacted that way. He would be crying with happiness.” She nodded but her smile faded away and tears started to form again in her eyes.
“But what if he really reacted like he didn’t care? That would break Niall, wouldn’t it? I mean... Being denied by your father must be the worst thing ever! Why did he say that Niall ain’t really in our family anymore?”
I moved closer to her and pull my arms around her. She rested her head against my chest and kept on crying on my jacket.
“He may think that because he doesn’t like the fact that you spent most of your time looking for him. He couldn’t do anything about that so it might have driven him mad,” I muttered and I felt her move her head, nodding.
We didn’t add any other words and stayed like that for a long while, listening to the sound of her sobs.
But my phone loudly, making the both of us jump. I swore and answered, not looking at the screen but I recognized Niall’s voice, who sounded really annoyed.
“Simon wants to see the two of us.”
He didn’t say anything else so I asked, “Now? But doesn’t he realize what...” Niall cut me off sharply.
“He does. And yes, now.” I sighed and Niall hung up. I stared agape at my phone. What was wrong with him?
“I’m sorry, Ciara but I have to go. Management wants to see me and Niall now. I don’t know what they have in mind though...” She nodded.
I ran along the corridor and finally reached the door of Simon’s office. I opened it violently without knocking and rushed in the room where I found him and Niall, sitting in front of each other without talking.
“What’s happening? What do you want to tell us?” I asked while making my way toward the chair beside Niall. Simon waited for me to sit down to start speaking,
“I don’t want to tell you something. I want to show you something and you,” he pointed out Niall and me, “will have something to tell me.” I raised my eyebrows, wondering what he was talking about. I noticed Niall had the same expression on his face.
Simon opened a drawer and took some papers out of it.
“I received an E-mail containing this. I just printed them.” He threw the papers on the table and we bent to look at them.
But they weren’t ordinary paper; they were pictures. Pictures of Ciara and I yesterday and tonight.
Do you want another chapter in his POV or do you want Ciara's one? ;)
