I walked into my old room. Everything was right where I left it. All of the pictures of me growing up, usually with my partner in crime, Haz. I sighed, throwing myself onto my bed. It was dark in the room, I hadn’t turned the lights on but I heard the door open. I propped myself up and tried to see who it was. Finally, I turned on my light near my bed.
“Harry…what are you doing?” I looked at him, smirking. He was holding a tiny gold box. “What’s that?”
He held it out for me, “It’s your birthday present from all of the boys. Mine is to come later on…during gift exchange.”
I rolled my eyes and took hold of the tiny box. What could be so small? I gently lifted the top off and gasped at the little ruby necklace. Rubies were my absolute favourite type of jewellery. It was inlayed in a gold setting. It was the most precious little necklace I’ve ever seen.
“Haz…this is from the boys?” I asked, shocked they knew me so well.
He nodded and took it out of the box, unclasping it. “Yes, I went with them and Liam and Louis saw it. They thought you’d like it. Zayn picked out the chain.” He fiddled with the clasp, “Turn around, I’ll put it on you.”
I turned around and felt the ruby drop around my collarbone. It slid to the center and I looked down at it. The red shined beautifully! I felt the necklace fall loose, knowing Harry finally got the clasp to work.
I turned around and hugged him. “Oh thank you! Even if it wasn’t from you. I need to call the boys later and thank them!”
He laughed, “Just remember…the family is giving you your gifts later…no matter if Niall happens to know it’s your birthday or not…” Harry got off my bed and inched his way to the door.
I sighed, “You told him it was my birthday…didn’t you?”
He shrugged, “Maybe…maybe not. I suppose we’ll see.” Harry shut the door and as soon as I heard it click I ran up to my mirror to look at the necklace. It was really perfect.
There was a knock on my door. “Come in.” I said, admiring my necklace and turning to face whoever came in.
Niall walked in and closed the door behind him. He looked all over my VERY pink room. I have a cheetah duvet and a matching area rug. It was your typical girl room. “Very nice.” He smiled, grabbing me and kissing me slowly.
I smiled into our kiss. He was the perfect birthday present and I was truly hoping Harry didn’t tell him because it’s our 2 month anniversary and he was already getting me a little gift for that…I already got him his gift. I got him the BEATS headphones he’d been raving about. Zayn mentioned to me that he got me a nice gift. Well, when I was talking to Zayn… I haven’t said a word to him since he told Niall about my tattoo.
“So are you ready for tonight?” Niall asked, touching our foreheads together.
I gave him a curious look. “I suppose it depends on what tonight it.”
“I think Harry mentioned to me that all of us were going out to dinner…for some special occasion. What’s the occasion?” He asked, with a knowing look.
“Beats me…it’s probably just the fact that we’re all together.” I lied.
“You’re a terrible liar. Did you think I didn’t know my own girlfriends birthday?” He asked, grinning like an idiot.
I shrugged, “I don’t know…I never told you it so I assumed you didn’t know and since it was our little anniversary I didn’t want you to buy me anything.”
Niall rolled his beautiful blue eyes at me. “You’re the worst…” He kissed me again. I swear every time he kissed me was (as cliché as it sounds) like the first. Always taking me off-guard and knowing just how to make me melt.
“Whoa, kiddos. There are children here…” Maggie said before I felt a little girl pulling at my leg.
“NIALL!” Rosie screamed, running into his arms. He laughed and threw her in the air.
Ellie asked me quietly to pick her up. Ellie was always the calmer twin. “I missed you, Addie.” Ellie cooed, wrapping her little arms around my neck.
I smiled and pecked her on the cheek. “I missed you too, Ellie.” I set Ellie down before telling both of the twins, “Go with Mummy and get ready for dinner.”
The twins ran out of the room with my cousin, leaving Niall and I once more.
“What’s this?” Niall asked, taking my precious gem in his hands and observing it.
My cheeks tinted a bright scarlet. “Oh, just a birthday present from the lads.”
“It’s rather nice…definitely Louis picked it out, gotta be.”
I chuckled, “Good job…Liam AND Louis picked it out. Zayn picked the chain.”
My Mum yelled that we had twenty minutes to ready ourselves. I sprung to my wardrobe. Birthday outfit….paparazzi will be there, definitely…got to look BEAUTIFUL.
I settled with a cream dress. The bodice had a sequence overlay and it flowed down to mid-thigh. I adjusted the dress once more in the mirror before twisting my hairs into elegant curls that spilled to mid-back. The ruby necklace accompanied the dress terrifically. I slipped on some ruby coloured platform heels and flew into the kitchen.
My mum ushered me into the car. I sat in the back with Harry. Maggie was taking Niall in her car with the twins.
Harry looked very dressed up. I had no idea where we were going but it looked like we were heading to a very fancy place outside of town. It’s some French place and the food is exquisite. I turned my head and we pulled into the restaurant.
Niall was at the door waiting for me. He was dressed to impress in his khaki coloured chinos with the red polo I loved matched with some shiny new white trainers. He kissed my cheek and wished me a Happy Birthday.
The food was great and my mum got me a very nice acoustic guitar that I’d been wanting for years now.
“Now you don’t have to play mine all the time.” Niall told me, winked at me and then pulled out a silver box from his pocket.
“Happy Birthday/ two month anniversary, love.” He whispered, handing me the box.
I stared at it for a minute. He nudged me, “Are you going to open it or stare at the box all night?”
My family laughed. They were waiting for me to open my final present. I slipped the top off and took off a layer of tissue paper and saw a gleaming ruby ring that matched the necklace perfectly. It had been inlayed with little diamonds and it sparkled wildly under the florescence.
I held it up for my mum and family to see. They “OOH”ed and “AHH”ed at it and gushed to Niall about how perfect it was. I slid it on to my right ring finger. It was the perfect size. Harry must’ve been in on this. I looked at my cousin. He sipped away at his water and winked at me. I glared at him and he laughed to himself.
I turned to Niall, “Thank you so, so much. It’s the best…you’re the best.” I stopped myself; I almost said I love you. I truly meant it that time but it didn’t come out. Stupid me, messing things up.
He smiled, “It’s beautiful and it matches that necklace well. The boys did help me a bit with the setting…actually it was mainly Harry and Louis. Liam helped bargain and Zayn fixed his hair in the little mirror in the shop.”
I laughed before kissing him. Maggie and my brother gagged and my mum aww’ed us. Niall whispered an “I love you.” In my ear.
I leaned over and whispered, “I love you, too.”
