Zayn and I returned back to the hotel at half 8. I checked my DMs on twitter. A new one from Aimee :That sounds fun! I’ll meet you there at 9. :)
I got out of my formal dress and shrugged on a bikini. I tossed my hair up in a messy bun and walked downstairs. “Where are you going, Addie?” Zayn asked, looking at me from the couch.
“I’m going swimming.”
Zayn mumbled something to himself and got up. “Hold on, I’ll be right down.”
“No, you don’t have to come.” I told him, hoping I could have some time alone.
“Trust me, I do. I promised Harry and Niall I’d watch your every move. I’m not allowed to let you out of my sight.”
I rolled my eyes, typical of Harry. But Niall? I guess this was part of their deal. I sighed as he marched up the stairs.
He returned in a pair of electric blue shorts. I got the towels from the bathroom and threw them over my shoulder. “Ready?” He asked, opening the door for me.
I nodded and we walked down to the MASSIVE heated pool area. Aimee wasn’t there yet so we set our stuff down and got in the hot tub. The teenage girls across from us giggled. Zayn put his arm around my shoulder and the girls rolled their eyes and went back to their talking.
“Ah, I think they were interested in you.” I whispered to him.
He chuckled, “Yeah but I wasn’t interested in them.”
“Zayn, I’m finding you a girlfriend.” I said, randomly.
He laughed, “I think you’re tipsy from the wine.”
I shrugged my shoulders in guilt. “Don’t tell Niall” I put a finger on his lip, shhing him. He chuckled and bit my finger. “OW. Oh my God, it’s broken!” I joked with him.
Aimee and her friends walked through the automatic door and Zayn and I got out of the pool to greet them. The girls were very adorable. I learned they were there because it was Aimee’s 13th birthday party.
Zayn had taken the girls in the pool to talk and play around. Aimee stuck with me in the hot tub.
“So Aimee, how was your birthday?” I asked, splashing some water around.
“It was awesome!” Americans and saying awesome… “Thanks to you.”
I squinted my eyebrows in confusion, “Why me?”
She laughed, “You got the boys to follow me on twitter! I’ve been trying to do that FOREVER.”
I smiled, “Well then, happy birthday!”
We talked around for another half hour until Aimee’s parents came to fetch them. We took a group picture and we all left.
I got a quick shower in our room before going to bed. I had to be up at 8 to get to the studio at half 9.
My infuriating alarm clock went off and I slammed it off. My hair was still straight from last night so I brushed it out and put on a bit of make-up. I pulled on a high waisted black tulle skirt and a grey off the shoulder shirt that I tucked into the skirt. I put on some black Louboutin heels and marched into Zayn’s room.
“Zayn Jawaad Malik. Get out of bed right now. You have twenty minutes to get your hair ready.”
Zayn wins the awards for sleeping the most and longest. He stirred but flipped over. I dragged his feet and pulled him to the bathroom.
“Leave me to my bed.” He mumbled on the bathroom floor.
“Nope. Now get ready or I’m doing your hair…I’ll make sure it looks good in pigtails.”
He jumped from his spot and started combing his black hair. I smiled and grabbed my phone, taking a picture of Zayn trying to get ready, half asleep.
I had to ring Niall! I dialed his number and it rang twice before he picked up, “This is Niall.”
He hadn’t looked at the caller i.d. He always answers like that if he doesn’t look at the name. I decided to prank him. “OH MY GOD. NIALL JAMES HORAN. I’M YOUR BIGGEST FAN. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. MARRY ME?”
I heard him disconnect from the call. He should call back in 3…2…1. *ring*
“This is Addie.” I mimicked.
He snickered, “You’re awful, Addie. I freaked out! I thought the fans got my number.”
I laughed, “Well, I’m your fan.”
He laughed, “Of course you are. Everyone is.” I heard Louis says something and then someone hit him because he shrieked, “Sorry. Louis is being Louis. Anyways, how’s it going there?”
“Well, it is only about half 8 here and it feels like it should be 1. I’m not sure how you boys do this all the time. I’m doing bootcamp this morning…not sure how that’s going to go.”
“Bootcamp? Simon is making you do bootcamp?” Niall asked.
“I guess so. I think he’s making Zayn do it too.”
I heard Zayn spit out his toothpaste, “No. I already did bootcamp once…I’m not doing it again.”
“Alright Zayn. We’ll see what Simon says, mate.” I told him.
Niall cleared his throat, “Oi, Listen I have to get back to the studio, Addie.”
“Oh…alright.” Well isn’t this a bit awkward.
“I miss you.” He said, softly.
I smiled, “I miss you too. Bye, Niall.”
I heard him hang up so I shoved my phone in my pocket and grabbed Zayn by the ear just in time to make it outside where our driver was waiting.
“Ah, good morning Addie; Zayn.”
We nodded our heads to him as we got in the backseat. My hands were sweaty and I didn’t know what to expect. I’d never really watched x factor when I was home except for when Harry was on. So I guess I sort of know about that bootcamp but how am I doing this?
I looked at Zayn who had fallen asleep again. I rolled my eyes, he obviously wasn’t going to help me. I looked out the window as the car came to a stop. Oh my God. We were outside of some huge arena. What the hell are we doing?
I hit Zayn hard on his chest. He swatted my hand away as he sat up and looked at the venue. He shot me a confused look but proceeded to get out. I followed closely behind him, into the huge doors.
There was Louis Walsh. “Ah! Zayn and Addie. How wonderful it is to finally meet you.” He said, pulling me in for a hug.
“Erm…” I said, confused. Zayn looked about as puzzled as I was.
Louis smiled, “Follow me.” We followed him for a good 5 minutes to a backstage area. There was a prep team there waiting with a microphone and they were all looking at me.
“What’s this?” I asked. Turning to see Louis, but he wasn’t there. “Zayn?” I asked, looking to see Zayn on my left but he wasn’t there either. What had I gotten myself into?
“Hi Addie. I’m Dana. I’m supposed to tell you not to be nervous and that Simon already loves you. Knock ‘em dead.” She handed me the microphone and pushed me onto the HUGE stage.
I was in front of THOUSANDS of people. Simon had arranged all of this for...me? No. Why would he do that?
I looked to the judges panel. It was Simon and two other judges I didn’t know. Why were they all here to see me? “Ah, hello Addie.” Simon spoke, tapping a pencil on his desk.
“Erm, hello.” I said, quietly into the microphone.
“Zayn picked your music earlier. All you have to do is sing for us.”
The audience cheered and my video was playing behind me. It stopped and then my music started playing. It was Your Song…Ellie Goulding’s version.
I started out nervous but forgot about the audience and sang with everything I had. Simon let me finish the song out. The music ended and I was awaiting Simon’s verdict again.
“I think that you’ve certainly brought it all out for that song. It was absolutely brilliant.”
The audience cheered in agreement. The other judges agreed that I was very good. I was escorted off stage and realized that this was an American version of X Factor and I was just the guest singer for the day. Zayn was back where the families met with the auditions, arm spread out wide. I jumped into his arms and he spun me around, “I told you! You were amazing!”
Someone tapped me on the shoulder. Zayn smirked and set me down. I turned around and was face to face with Louis. “LOU!” I hugged him.
He laughed, “Very good job today, Addie.”
“How did you…when did you?” I tried fitting it together. “Why are you here? I thought you and the boys were at rehearsals?”
I was tapped on the shoulder again. I spun around and was an inch away from Niall. “ADDIE. You were so good!”
I squealed as he hugged me and then gave me a peck on the lips. Liam hugged me too. Harry was at home visiting family and he sent his regards.
As we were walking back to my dressing room, hand in hand with Niall, I had to ask Zayn. “So you knew all of this the whole time and didn’t tell me?”
He laughed, “Of course! You didn’t just think that the boys would leave you with me the whole time, did you? They insisted on flying out here to see their little baby Styles.”
I blushed and the boys laughed. “Well you didn’t have to do this.”
Liam spoke up, “But we wanted to! This is big for you and we wanted to be there.”
That’s the first time I realized how much the boys had cared about me. I was part of their life just like they were part of mine. I’m pretty sure nothing could alter our relationship with each other.
Zayn, Louis, Liam, Niall, and I were sitting in the dressing room waiting for Simon to come back. They were throwing chocolate coins into a trash can. They were so daft sometimes.
There was a knock at the door. We all paused until Zayn spoke up, “Come in.”
Simon came in with clipboard in hand. “Boys, mind if I talk to Addie alone?”
They all got up and went outside the room.
Simon sat down in a chair across from me. I crossed my legs and bit my lip. This was it.
“I just wanted to say that you are definitely one of the best performers I’ve seen in a long time. You were nervous but you were still great. That’s what I’m looking for. Sorry for tricking you into thinking this would be a bootcamp thing. I suppose it will be, sort of. You’re going to be singing all day tomorrow in the studio, I presume?”
I looked at him, confused. “In the studio?”
He smiled, “I’m signing you, Addie.”
I smiled, brightly. I shot out of my chair and threw my arms around him. He laughed and patted my back. “Well, I cannot let talent like yours go to waste. I’ll see you at the studio bright and early tomorrow morning.” He got out of his chair, gave me one last hug, and left.
The door shut behind him and I waited a good minute before I screamed. Niall came running back in. “Are you okay?” He asked. Louis, Liam, and Zayn came running behind him.
I was crying but they were happy tears. I nodded and he hugged me. “Didn’t you get the deal?”
“No, I did…I’m crying because I’m happy.”
He laughed, “Good.” He wiped away the tears pouring out of my eyes with his shirt and held me tighter. “Want to go out for lunch?”
“I’m starved.” Louis exclaimed, Zayn and Liam agreed.
I rolled my eyes and we left through the back entrance. Pictures were snapped of us. I put my sunglasses on as I walked in between Niall and Zayn. A couple of teenage girls asked for pictures with us. We agreed and security quickly moved them along.
We all spent the rest of the day together. We walked around LA for a long time and finally went back to the hotel.
“Anyone up for a drink?” Louis asked, emerging from the kitchen with a bottle of Vodka and shot glasses. “Well, anyone but Annie, of course.”
I rolled my eyes, “Just hand me a shot.”
Liam and Zayn oo’ed me. Louis poured me one and I kicked it back. Niall laughed at me and tightened his grip around my waist before whispering, “Don’t drink if you’re going to be recording all day tomorrow. Hangovers are killer when you sing for 8 hours a day.”
I laughed, “I think I’m going to bed anyways.”
“I’ll join you.”
Louis kicked back his shot, “That’s kinky.”
Liam laughed along with Zayn as they were playing the Wii. Niall helped me up and we started walking upstairs as Louis shouted, “We can all hear you in there. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do, Addie.”
I laughed, “So I can pretty much do whatever I please then.”
Louis scowled at me and then turned to watch the tennis match between Liam and Zayn.
Niall and I went to sleep and for the rest of the week I talked with Simon and my AMERICAN manager, Kelly, about an album. I had to write a couple of songs for it and it wouldn’t be hard because I’ve got inspiration. Kelly had somehow managed to sneak Katy Perry onto my album; we’d be writing and recording a song together. How amazing could this get?
Oh, and I’m the opening act for One Direction on their tour starting in December.
