"Welcome to Diagon Alley," Hagrid said as the motorcycle thudded onto the ground
"How big is Diagon Alley?" I asked amazed at all the people around me, "Are there any muggles here, whatever muggles are?"
"I do not know how big Diagon Alley is, lad. But I do know that no muggles, unmagical beings, will ever even come near here. They can not," Hagrid got off the motorcycle
"Oh," I looked around getting out of the sidecar
"It is impressive, is it not?" Hagrid chuckled
"Yes," I breathed
"Now, the first thing we need to do is get you some money," Hagrid said
"But I have money," I waved some pounds in his face
"That will get you nothing," Hagird laughed
"Really?" I asked
"Yes, we need to go to Gringotts." Hagrid smiled at me
"Um, excuse me, Hagrid but what is Gringotts?" I questioned
"Why, Neville, Gringotts is a wizarding bank. There is no place safer, well, except for Hogwarts, I reckon." Hagrid clapped me on the shoulder
"Ah," I nodded not quite sure how to answer otherwise
"Well, come on now. We do not have all day." Hagrid smiled and pulled me along towards the bank
We walked into the bank and I stared at the creatures all around us, taking care of financial business. Hagrid noticed me staring and smiled. He smacked me on the back.
"These are goblins Neville, they are not the friendliest creatures. They do their jobs well though." Hagrid whispered
We walked up to the desk. A strange looking goblin was writing something down. I stood up on my tiptoes trying to peek at what he was writing. He yanked his paper back and scowled at me.
"What is it?" The goblin asked gruffly
"Neville Longbottom wishes to enter his vault," Hagrid announced
"Does he have his key?" The goblin questioned
"My key?" I scrunched up my forehead
"Your key, indeed." The goblin smirked
"His key, ah, it has got to be here somewhere. Here it is," Hagrid handed the goblin a tiny golden key
"Will that be all then?" The goblin asked
"Yes, wait a minute, no. Dumbledore sent me to take you know what from vault you know which." Hagrid whispered
"Key?" The goblin asked impatient, "I should not have to ask everytime."
"Here you go," Hagrid handed him another tiny key
"Griphook will show you to your vaults," The goblin handed the keys to another goblin, I assumed it was Griphook
"Right this way," Griphook gestured for us to follow
He took us to my vault first. Griphook stepped out of the cart. Hagrid and I followed suit. I looked at my surroundings and saw cavernous rooms filled with laterns shining light on the never ending vaults.
"Key?" Griphook asked
"Here," Hagrid said handing Griphook a tiny key
"Stand back," Griphook commanded
The vault creaked open and I stared at the piles of gold, silver, and bronze coins gleaming at me and Hagrid. I was amazed. I turned to Hagrid with a questioning look in my eyes. He nodded and smiled. He gestured for me to take some and tossed me a drawstring purse.
We went back to the cart after Hagrid assured me that I most definitely had enough money to cover the expenses of the supplies. So we hopped in the cart and went to the vault Hagrid had mentioned. We pulled up to vault 713 and Griphook stopped the cart getting out.
Hagrid handed him the key and Griphook opened the vault. Hagrid stepped in, grabbed something and tucked it into his cloak. Then, we left.
