I laughed as Shay happily cheered down the hall of our apartment floor.
"Yay! It's the last day! I can't believe they actually let me graduate."
We reached the elevator and she started to dance to herself. I wasn't as excited. Today was supposed to be the day my family starts to pack to move to California. I didn't want to leave Niall, but I didn't want to leave my mum and Mike either. I love Niall. He's the best thing that's happened to me in a while. But I don't want to leave my mum already. I'm only eighteen. I've talked to Niall about it, seeing as he knows what it's like without parents at a young age. He says he doesn't want me to go through it. I reassure him I'm old enough and I've got him, but he continues to tell me it's wrong.
"Come here." Shay opens her arms to me. She knows I'm not looking forward to today. I fall in her arms, giving her a tight hug.
"I still think you should stay here." She whispers.
"I know. But you're the only one."
"That's not true!" She yells, pulling me away from her grip and looking at me in the eyes. "There's Niall, Louis, Liam, Zayn, Harry, Chelsea, Michael, Luke, Calum, Ashton, Do I really have to go on?"
I laughed, "I guess so. Niall doesn't want me to stay though."
"Of course he wants you to stay! He's going to be depressed without you and you know it. He's going to be lost."
The elevator dinged to ground level before we could continue. Niall's car was already waiting for us, as usual in the morning. Niall didn't look too excited either. I really hope I wasn't ruining his day. He spotted us walk out of the elevator and gave me his best fake smile.
"Morning beautiful." he shouted from his car.
"Hi." I not-so-excitedly yelled back. I reached his side and gave him a kiss with the car door in between us.
"I know baby." he whispered into my face as our lips parted.
I nodded and walked over to the passenger side as Shay excitedly jumped into the back seat.
"You excited for today, Niall?"
"I'm excited it's the last day, of course." They gave each other a high five. "But I'm not so excited about my baby leaving me."
He looked over to me and I held his hand, squeezing tightly.
"Don't leave!" Louis begged as I packed the last of my books from my locker to my bag.
"I don't want to Lou. I really, really don't. I would love to live with you and Niall. But..."
"Please just stay."
I shut my locker and grabbed onto Louis's shoulders.
It was the first time since I'd told the guys I was moving that I was going to try and stay. His eyes and smiled widened as he pulled me in for a hug. I laughed at his enthusiasm.
"Please stay Sammy." I heard Harry whine from behind me.
"She's going to try!" Louis yelled while still holding me in the hug.
I couldn't see what Harry's reaction was when he found out, but I felt two more arms wrap around my back, trapping me in a Louis and Harry sandwich.
"Guys!" I tried to yell. "I can't breathe."
They both let go apologising. They still looked excited though.
"I'm only going to try. I know Niall doesn't want me to stay because of his experiences but I really want to. I'm about to graduate, I can leave mum."
They looked at each other and nodded understandingly. Chelsea came to us and gripped onto Harry's arm. They started to kiss and whisper things to each other. I focused my attention back to packing away my things.
"You know Niall wants you to stay. More than anything." Louis whispered to me.
"Woo!" Shay screamed at the top of her lungs as we finally heard the last speech. It was the end of school. People started to throw up their graduation hats. I looked over to Niall and gave him a long kiss.
"I love you." he whispered between breaths.
"I love you too."
We gave each other a hug when I felt other multiple arms wrap around us. I looked up and was happy to see our whole group of friends, together in a massive group hug. I never wanted to leave their grip.
"I'll come over tonight." I reassured Niall for the last time before he left. He gave me a nod and a quick kiss.
"Hurry up Sammy! I'm not holding this elevator door any longer!" Shay impatiently yelled.
I laughed and looked back to Niall, "I'll see you later."
I walked over to the elevator and Shay gave me another hug. The doors slowly closed as I watched Niall reverse his car out of the driveway. Once the doors had slammed shut, I let my head fall onto Shay's shoulder. I felt some tears brim on the edges of my eyes, but I fought them back. I had to stay strong. For everyone's sake. If I was upset, everyone would be upset and we'd all just fall apart.
The elevator dinged to the top level. I let out a heavy sigh as we walked out of the elevator and to our doors.
"Good luck." she whispered as I let go of her. I nodded, walking to my door. I waited until Shay got into her apartment and I let out all the tears. I leaned my back against the wall to the outside of our apartment and sunk to the floor. I put my head in my hands and wiped away the tears. Mike should be here soon and I didn't want him to see me like this.
I got up from the floor, cleaning myself up and letting out a heavy breath. I unlocked the front door to see mum sitting at the dining table with her head in her hands, holding tissues.
She looked up in shock. Once she realised it was me, she tried to clean herself up and put on a smile. I ran to her side, giving her a hug.
"Nothing." she laughed.
I pulled away, "How is nothing wrong? You're crying."
"Morgan came over today." She started, but I interrupted with a sigh. Mum had told me what happened to them and I wasn't such a huge fan of him anymore.
"He apologised and gave me some roses. He's taking me out tonight."
I went to object when I realised something. Tonight? We were supposed to be packing tonight.
"We're not moving." she smiled.
