"Hi guys!" Louis excitedly yelled as he answered the door.
I gave him a tight hug and Harry shook his hand. I looked back at Harry, who seemed to look jealous. He really shouldn't be. Louis was like my brother.
"Well, come in." Louis awkwardly said, leading us through his lounge room to the backyard.
I walked to Harry's side and whispered, "Were you jealous of mine and Louis's hug?"
His cheeks went a shade of red I'd never seen on Harry before. He always seemed to be in control or confident.
"N-no." He tried to say confidently, but stuttered.
"It's alright, babe. All of us get jealous." I said smugly, using his words against him.
He ran his tongue over his teeth and smiled in defeat. He grabbed my hand in his as we walked through the back door. I was surprised by his actions, but I didn't pull away. Once we reached the backyard, the smell of cooking meat filled my nostrils. The sun was beating down on us as Harry and I took some spare seats at the table.
"Hi Hayley!" Liam smiled, getting up from his chair and giving me a hug.
"Who's this?" He asked, directing his comment to Harry.
"Oh, uh, Liam, this is Harry and vise versa." I said, pointing between them.
Liam went over to Harry's side and shook his hand, being the polite guy he is. My eyes scanned the rest of the yard. It looked like the same group of people were here from the party, except only a third of them and they were only lightly drinking. My eyes were drawn to the familiar blond boy with his feet over the edge of the pool, talking to someone on the phone. Niall. I looked over at Harry to see him and Liam in too deep of a conversation to notice me. I got up from my chair and walked over to Niall.
"I miss you too." He spoke into the phone. He looked up and noticed me standing above him.
"Look, I've gotta go. Yep. I'll call you tonight. You too." He hung up and stood up. This time, he was standing above me. He gave me a tight hug.
"I didn't think you were going to come today." Niall said, pulling away from our hug and sitting back down.
I took off my flip flops and sat at the edge of the pool, dipping my feet in.
"I never miss a great party." I joked.
"Yeah, I've known Hayley since we were about two years old. Our mum's are all friends."
I nodded, not exactly paying attention to Liam and looking over to Hayley. She was talking to a blond man. He looked familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. They were laughing about something and flicking pool water at each other. Suddenly, I felt anger boil through my blood. Liam must've noticed where my gaze was directed.
"Oh, Niall. Don't worry about him mate. They've been friends since, well forever. True, they used to date, but that's more than over." Liam said, putting a hand on my shoulder.
I continued to watch as Niall picked Hayley up and threw her into the water and she grabbed his hand, pulling him in too. I got up from my chair and over to the pool. Hayley was laughing and she noticed me.
"Harry! Come in." She yelled.
"Nah, I'm alright. I've got jeans on anyway."
Niall had noticed me and stood back. He must have recognised me too.
"Harry, this is Niall."
I lent over the edge of the pool and put out my hand. He walked over to me nervously and shook it.
"Do I know you? You look familiar." I asked.
He shook his head, "I-I've never seen you before."
I nodded. I knew he was lying.
"Well, I need to go." Niall said, swimming to the edge of the pool and lifting himself up.
"Really Niall?" Hayley yelled.
"Yeah. I've got to visit Greg and Theo."
"Theo?" Hayley asked.
"Yeah, Greg had a baby. You should come visit sometime."
He came over to me and shook my hand, "Nice to meet you."
"Yeah, you too." I said. I could've sworn I had seen him somewhere.
Niall gave his last goodbyes to the rest of the party. I sat at the edge of the pool in front of Hayley.
"Well, that was weird." She sighed.
"Yeah." I nodded.
I had to get out of there. My high school bully, dating the girl I still love? The sight crushed me. I couldn't be around them. My phone started to buzz and I answered without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Hi Niall. I'm visiting England soon for a wedding. Would you want to catch up?" Paige asked.
Paige would be a good way to get over Hayley.
"Yeah, come whenever. Just text me when you're close, okay?"
"I won't be coming until next week. Is Friday good?" She asked.
"Should be fine. See you then." And with that, I hung up.
