"We're here!" My mom shouts, getting out of the car.
"Looks like we got here just in time." My dad opens the trunk taking things out.
"C'mon, let's go give my dad a hand." I unbuckle my seatbelt getting out, walking to the back.
"Here sweetie." He hands me the picnic chairs.
"Anything we could do sir?" Harry gets out with Niall behind him.
"Yeah, carry that box for me, but be careful." He walks away with the ice chest in his arms.
Harry slides it towards the edge, placing his hands around the edges. He slowly picks it up, failing to keep it up. "What's in this box?" Harry lays his head and arms on the top of the box breathing heavily.
I roll my eyes. "Here. Carry something lighter." I hand him the chairs, grabbing the box.
"But it's too heavy Andy."
I ignore him and carry it towards our side of the BBQ. I settle it on the ground walking back to the car. I raise an eyebrow smirking. "You're just not strong enough."
"Whatever." He mumbles.
We take the rest of the things to our side setting up our tables and chairs. I sit on a blanket with the boys, waiting for my parents to set up the food. We play a couple rounds of go fish until my mom says it's time.
"Let's go greet the family." She walks on ahead of us to the separate parts of the families.
I glance around to see many familiar faces. Some of them weren't even familiar from the last time, so people must of gotten married since we last seen them. I stop on my tracks when I see my cousins. It's like they're not even my cousins anymore. I approach them putting on a fake smile.
"Andy? Is that you?!" Alexis runs towards me, giving me a tight squeeze with her arms.
"Yeah it's me." I roll my eyes. She pushes away looking up and down at me.
"You've changed a lot." She smiles.
"Andy!" Her brother, Jake, walks towards us embracing me in a hug.
"Hey." I weakly smile, starting to give up on my fake smiles.
"I'm gonna go say hello to the others." Alexis smiles, walking away.
"How've you been?"
"I've been good. What about-"
"They're still alcoholics." Jake murmurs, looking to his sides as if he were telling me a secret.
"Yup. I'm just surprised they haven't kicked Alexis out of the house yet."
"Why would they? She's the baby of your family."
"They're not my family anymore. Beth and our soon coming Penny is my family."
"Your wife's pregnant?" I said in shock.
"Yeah, already 6 months." He motions a young women over with a medium sized belly.
"Beth, this is my cousin, Andy. Andy, this is Beth, my wife." I extend my hand out to her as we shook hands.
"Pleasure to meet you Andy." She smiles.
"Well, we'll be on our way now." Jake waves back to me as they walk away. It's like he didn't remember what happened years ago. Maybe the family does want to forget the past and start new again.
"Hey cousin!" Oh god. I turn back to see Mel walk up to me.
"Didn't think you would show up to the reunion. I thought you remembered about the past when your family started drifting away from us." She crossed her arms.
"Nice seeing you too." I take in a deep breath letting it out slowly. I didn't want to start anything especially because the reunion is barely starting.
"So where are you living now that you got kicked out of the house?" What the? Where the hell is she getting these lies from?
"I'm living in a condo." I ignored her lie.
"Oh, don't tell me your living with Flynn and Link."
"I am. I actually enjoy their company." I smiled. I open my mouth about to say something, but stop myself. 'Andy, don't say anything.' I thought to myself. "So how's Carter? Is he here? Man, he's such a great person."
Her face flushes as she looks down at the ground listening to me. 'Andy! Shut up!' I thought again, pinching my arm. What's wrong with me?!
"We broke up last year." She mumbled.
"Sad to hear. Well, I'll talk to you later!" I waved back at her walking away. Gosh Andy! Put a zipper on that mouth! I need to stop being a blabber mouth and stay quiet.
I walk back to the tent to see Harry and Niall playing cards. I sit beside Niall looking back at the family playing a game of American football. I wonder if any of the family know the boys. Probably not.
