The Killers- When you were young
Weezer-When you were young
Liam pulls Zayn up by his forearms and pushes him back while giving Harry some time to catch his jagged breaths. I take a step towards him to push him but Liam grabs my arm and pulls me back.
"You both need to stop!" He snaps. "This is my property and I will have both of you arrested if another fight breaks out. Understood." Harry angrily spits a blot of blood and saliva onto the asphalt and looks past him to me.
"You're something else, aren't you?" I bite the inside of my cheek and avert my gaze from him, to ashamed to look him in the eye. I know I kissed Zayn to piss Harry off and the fact that I kissed him makes my head hurt. Him being here is causing me to resort to revenge a tactic I never thought of until now, until the rage and confusion of emotion and distaste have flooded my perception.
It's all Harry. His past, his emotions, his anger, his fights, his friends.
"Do you want to go inside?" Liam asks me. I close my eyes and breath, waiting for one last word to come out before he takes me away from him.
"I'm sorry, okay?" His brow furrows.
"I'm sorry, for kissing him."
"Don't apologize." Zayn interrupts. His cheeks are growing red but I can't tell if it's from his embarrassment or the anger still coursing through him.
"I'm sorry Zayn. I shouldn't of done that. I was mad and-" I breath again as Liam takes a hold of my arm to steady me.
"You don't have to do this, Norie."
"I know." I tell him. "I 'm so tired of the fighting. Zayn's leaving and you should do the same Harry."
"I'm not going anywhere until-"
"Yes you are! You need to go back to England with Louis! Why can't you just leave me alone."
"You know why!" He spits.
"No I really don't. So tell me Harry." I don't know why I'm doing this or even what I'm doing, I just need someone else to speak and scream besides me. I need to feel like I'm not the only one who is going crazy here and sinking inside herself for comfort.
"Don't do that." He says through gritted teeth.
"Honestly." We spy Alex's green Ford a mile away as he slowly inches forward like a snake in the grass.
"Well that's me." Zayn smiles. He takes a step toward me and like a guard dog Harry growls. I roll my eyes and give him and awkward hug. As he pulls up his eyes slowly float to me and the dart to Harry. Harry, unphased, stares back at Alex until he moves his eyes back to me.
"My girl." He calls. I see the deep scar that leaves a red line across his cheek and over his eye and I can't help but smile at the idea that I did that. I can feel Liam's hot eyes piercing into my back like hot coals, I turn and walk back to the his house opening the door to my parents and Liam's parents walking back into the Fourier.
"Did you have fun with Liam, dear?" My mom asks. I nod and step away from the door.
"I that blood?" My fathers voice directs everyone attention to the blood spots causing a deep red line down the front of my shirt. I fist the fabric in my hand.
"Why were you bleeding?"
"Harry?" I breath and turn to see Harry and Liam entering through the front door. Their eyes turn up to the dry blood clinging to the brim of his nose on the corners of him mouth. Karen expression in full of concern while the rest of the party has turned to disgust and annoyance.
"What happened?" Karen speaks.
"Uh, I got in a fight." Harry tells her, wiping at the still open wound on his lip.
"Let's get you cleaned up." She offers and takes his hand leading him back into kitchen. "You too, Norie. I'll get that blood out of your shirt." I follow her to avoid any awkwardness between my parents, Liam, or Liam's dad. She makes Harry sit on the hard metal stools that hug the island and takes a towel from the drawer.
"I have a shirt in the back halway that you could slip on while I scrub yours."
"Okay." I say and leave to find it.
"Ow, shit." Harry whines at what I'm guessing is her trying to remove the blood.
"Sorry," she apologizes. "So what is a nice boy like you getting into fights over?" Nice, yeah. That's Harry.
"A girl." Her laugh is so airy, that it takes all of my strength from smiling. "Who is this girl? She must be real special."
"Yeah, I mean I think so."
"I hope you don't go fighting over random women."
"It's Norie." She goes silent and the sound of her clearing her throat helps me release the breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Norie. Well she is special. I just-um." She stops to laugh and I hear the whine of Harry and the slight exhaust of air.
"I'm not good with this."
"Emotions, people, talking with people about emotions." She laughs again. "How are you coming with the shirt sweetheart?" She calls to me. I swallow and search the shelves finding a red cardigan.
"Got it." I say emerging from the hall.
