I duck through the school halls as I've been doing all year so far. I head to the back of the school where the soccer field is, so far only a few names were heard as I passed. Today might be a wonderful day!
"Hey Paige!" I gasp as a hand clamps my blonde braid, "Why are you here? Shouldn't you be studying at home or reading in the library? You don't belong at the sports fields." It's Cierra, the star softball player.
"I'm going to the soccer field." I whisper, her grasp on my hair forces me to look at her and the rest of the girls laughing at me.
She lets my hair go and yanks my duffel bag over my head. She throws it on the ground and starts to go through it, throwing everything out, my soccer ball, my cleats and shin guards, extra clothes, a few books, hair ties, and everything else. "You have tomorrows math homework! Thanks!" She begins to get up to go to softball practice, leaving me to pick up all the things she threw out.
After picking up all my stuff I finally make it to the field. "Paige, you're late" I hear the coach all out. "Sorry coach, I ran into an incident, it made me lose some time. Won't happen again." I took a seat next to the other girls and the coach began to tell us who made the team.
I zone out until I hear "Paige". A smile began to appear on my face and nothing can stop me now. I pick up my new jersey and I got my lucky number 17. "I'm on the team." I whisper out loud and the rest of the girls just laugh at me.
After I got laughed at I walked off the field and headed to my locker. "Hey loser, we heard you made the team." Great it's Cierra and her gang again. I'm really getting tried of them.
"Congrats on making it on the team you're just making our life easier. Now we get to see you fail in life and on the field."
"Shut up," I whispered. To my luck she didn't really, because if she did I would've been screwed.
"Hey, Cierra, leave her alone." I turn around and it's Chason. Cierra and her posse start to walk away. "Thanks" I said to Chason, making no eye contact. I had the biggest crush on him since forever.
"No problem, it's stupid, bullying someone over nothing." You don't know the half of it.
"Thanks, but I don't need your help," I whisper. He looks hurt, I feel awful for letting it slip, he was being so sweet, but he has no idea what I've gone through. "Bye." I grab my bag and head outside to walk home.
