Lea met up with Luna and Genevieve on her way back up to the castle. They walked back up together while Ginny went to go get Hermione after they were done talking. "So, who are you going to the dance with?" Genevieve asked Lea as they went to the Great Hall to grab a snack. They all sat down at the Ravenclaw table and Genevieve began to pester Lea again.
"If you let me get a word in, I might actually tell you'" Lea said with a chuckle. There was a silence for all of five seconds.
"WELL???" Genevieve asked loudly.
"I said I might tell you, not that I would," the redhead pointed out. Genevieve glared at her as she took a large bite of an apple.
"She's going with Draco Malfoy. I thought it was obvious, with him being her mate and all," Luna said in her usual dreamy voice.
"Hey! I wanted to keep her guessing!" Lea all but yelled.
"Well, it was obvious," Luna replied. Lea mumbled some choice words under her breath that included 'stupid seers' and 'why can't they keep their mouths shut.'
"The Prince of Slytherin is going with the Mudblood of Slytherin to the Yule Ball, where everyone will see him dancing with said mudblood," Genevieve asked with raised eyebrows.
"Yes, he isn't as much of a bully as he seems. Besides, his father si spying on him and he now has almost total immunity from him, what with her becoming a spy and all," Luna said calmly, taking a sip of her pumpkin juice.
"Spy for who? And why?"Genevieve asked.
"For Lord Voldemort, of course. He will be coming back this year, after all," the blonde explained.
"WHAT?!?!?!?!" the Gryffindor asked loudly, causing everyone to turn towards her.
"So he will be coming back. I'm guessing he wants the Alpha and Moody is his little lap dog," Lea asked Luna, who nodded. "It's not the real Moody, is it?" Luna shook her head. "How the heck can Dumbledore not see this?"
"Who says he doesn't," Genevieve asked, lowering her voice. "He knew who opened the Chamber of Secrets the first time and two years ago. How can we be sure that he's not just keeping his friends close and his enemies closer?"
"The fake Moody has been spiking the Headmaster's lemon drops," Luna said in a serious voice, no longer dreamy. "It's a trust potion keyed to the fake Moody."
"Can we switch them so we have the spiked ones and the potion gets out of Dumbledore," Lea asked her friends.
"Yes, but it will take until almost the end of the year until the potion wears off. He eats a lot of lemon drops," Luna said with a scrunched up forehead. They all wondered how he ate so much candy and still had teeth.
"When does he spike the candy," Genevieve asked.
"Tuesdays, after classes are done and before dinner," the seer promptly replied.
"Good. I'll see if Sev can brew a counter potion," Lea agreed. "Crud, he's coming! talk about something else!"
they were drawing a blank to what to say when Luna asked a question. "Is it true, what th eNargles are saying? That you have been claimed as a dragon?"
"Yeah. Um... why?" Lea asked.
"I wanted to see their Claiming Mark,"Luna said with a bright smile. And just like that, they got off the subject of the fake Moody and Lea pulled down her collar to show the mark the dragons gave her.
That Tuesday, Luna and Lea stood watch as Genevieve and Hermione, who had cornered them on Monday, asking what was going on, because they had started congregating at the Ravenclaw table, with Draco in tow, who Lea had told that Saturday night, went on and switched the Headmaster's lemon drops. That Wednesday, the Lemon Group, as Luna had named them, grew to include Harry, who was actually getting along with Draco after a raised eyebrow from both of them, and Severus, who was being civil to Harry, much to his surprise. He actually thought that Severus was going to kill him or was dying the first time he talked to him without a sneer.
"Why was he being nice?!?!" Harry exclaimed as they walked from the potions lab with a bag of lemon drops with the counter potion in them.
"He's always like that when no tin class," Draco said with a shocked look toward the boy wonder.
"He has to keep the class from making mistakes that might be fatal, that's why he's so abrasive," Luna helped explain.
"He's never been nice to Harry or I, in or out of class," Hermione said with a frown of confusion.
"You've only seen him in public. He's perfectly polite when i meet him in his potions lab when he gives me my potions," Genevieve said with a shrug.
"What do you need potions for,"Harry asked.
"I was born with this rare thing, where I can't process any protein at all. I need a specialized potion so I can live. Lea sometimes makes it, too," she explained.
"Besides, Sev has to keep up the act of hating you because of the job. He's Dumbledore's spy in Voldemort's ranks. He also could never hurt you, Harry," Lea said in a sure voice.
"Why not," Hermione and Harry asked at once. Genevieve looked curious, along with Draco.
"She can't tell you," Luna answered fro the redhead. "But you have to trust her, no matter what. Trust Severus Snape too. And above all, do not take anything he does, even if you think he's worse than Voldemort, even if you question his allegiance, at face value. He is the bravest and loyal man you will ever know." And with that, Luna walked away, shortly followed by Lea after she nodded her head sagely at her friend's wise words.
