When the young man woke up, he was in a fresh bed in a room big enough to fit another in comfortably. He smelt the scent of coffee, so he went out of the room to investigate.
"Hey," Scarlett welcomed nonchalantly as she noticed him.
"Hello," Loki replied. He sat down on a bar stool and rubbed his temples.
As Loki looked up to answer, he saw the most peculiar Midgardian creature sitting on the sofa. It was black and silky and looked a little like a lion without the mane. Loki was intrigued by it.
Scarlett followed his gaze.
"That's Seb. He's my little boy." She went over to the thing and brought it over to Loki. She plopped it on the breakfast bar and Loki gingerly reached out to touch it.
"What is a Seb?"
"No, idiot, Seb is his name. Short for Sebastian. He's a cat."
"Oh. Yes please."
"I would like a coffee."
"Oh yes! Yes alright."
While Scarlett made the coffee she attempted light conversation.
"Any plans for the day?"
"Well, I assume that I should make a move to find a home. I cannot stay on Midgard, for welcome I am not."
"Why don't you just talk to the hero people?"
"They would not listen to me. They wish for me only to be locked away like I deserve. All of my grovelling will be interpreted as mind games, when really all I would like is a pardon," Loki sighed. His companion became utterly confused.
"If you are sorry, why did you do it in the first place?"
"I thought I craved power and authority, but when I had it in my fingertips it only caused everyone around me pain. I realise now what I have become, and I just want to be left alone by all of my pursuers."
Scarlett placed the coffee on the bar and sat down opposite Loki, looking deep into his eyes.
"Well, let's not go house hunting today. It's Saturday. I'm off and I want to slob today, so you are too."
Loki sipped at his warm drink and looked at the young woman.
"But I must find a place to escape to."
"No one will ever know you're here, you're safe while you're with me, which is for as long as you need... As long as you don't turn psycho."
The prince smirked.
"You want some slobby clothes? I have some stuff."
"Um... I would much prefer not to settle in dresses."
"No! I mean I have some pjs and stuff from my ex that you can wear if you want. Oh and I think I have a dressing gown somewhere..."
"What is a dressing gown?"
"This thing I'm wearing now."
"The furry thing?"
The prince nodded and watched as Scarlett padded down the hall, mind set onto the task of finding him some 'slob clothes.' He liked her.
She was kind, bold, spontaneous and trusting - qualities which Loki didn't even know he admired until just then. She was also very pretty.
Shoulder length curly red hair (definitely dyed) framed her pale face perfectly. She had very vibrant blue eyes which shouted to be adored. Loki shook his head and drunk the rest of his coffee.
Seb came and rubbed his head against Loki's pale hand, making a strange sound. The god opened his mouth to ask what he was doing, but Scarlett's shout from down the hall interrupted him.
"Green or black?"
"Green!" Loki replied. Then added, "I do not speak the language of your animal. Could you translate?"
After a moment she unhelpfully informed him that no one could speak cat.
Loki just scratched Seb's head gently. He cast a quick and quiet spell to refill his coffee cup and downed it as he waited.
