I woke up in a pool of tears. I dragged my aching body to the bathroom quietly. I looked in the mirror at all the bruises. I felt another tear trickle down my face. I slowly got into the shower and as the warm water hit my skin I wanted to scream out in pain. It felt like I was getting hit by bullets. After my shower I gently dried off and put some clean clothes on. I made sure each bruised was covered. I made my way out my door without waking my father who was on the couch snoring up a storm.
School was the only place I felt relaxed. At the same time I was most tense. I was afraid of everyone. Scared that it might start happening there too. I walked to my locker trying to keep out of everyone's way. I opened my locker and looked around. On one side of the hall there was Justin with the football players. In the middle were the cheerleaders. Then one the other side was the soccer boys. Behind them were the skater girls. All the girls were so pretty and beautiful. Then there was me. My father told me no one would ever love me, that I was too ugly.
The bell rang telling us it was now time for school to officially begin. I made my way to my first class which happened to be English. I like English and all but sometimes it just loses my interest. I was in a daze as I drew in my notebook. I looked up and around at everyone. In this class there were three cheerleaders, Perrie, Eleanor, and Taylor. There was one of the skater girls, Becky. Then there were two soccer boys, Louis and Harry. There weren't any football players which made me very happy. I turned back to the teacher who was now talking about groups. Oh please no. Anything but that..
"Eleanor, Kenzie, and Harry." The teacher said and I sunk down in my seat trying to hide. She went on with other names. I noticed Harry and Louis were looking at me pointing. So was the cheerleaders.
As soon as the bell rang I jumped from my seat and ran off to my second class. It was Art. I was the first one there so I got everything out and started on my painting. The final bell rang telling everyone that they should be in class. In this class I didn't have to worry about anyone talking to me. Mostly because there were only five kids. I looked over at Zayn's painting. It was of a girl. It looked like Perrie. I smiled then turned back to my own master piece.
"Mind if I use your blue?" Zayn asked standing right next to me.
I just nodded and handed it to him. He stood there for a second before walking back to his seat.
The third bell rang demising us to our third hour. I had choir this hour. I tried to hide in the far back so no one would notice me. I sound pretty pathetic don't I? I got to class just as the final bell rang. I took my normal spot. In this class there was, Niall, Justin, Selena, Harry, Taylor, Cher, and Liam. Today we were suppose to pick out songs for our concert which was in a few weeks. I picked Pardon Me by He is We. I sat in the corner while everyone else socialized.
"Kenzie come here." The teacher motioned to me.
I got up and made my way over to her. She was looking at a piece of paper. Liam sat in front of her desk. I being the nervous wreck I am just stared at my feet. I could feel his eyes staring at me trying to figure me out.
"I think it'd be best if Liam helped you out with your song." She finally looked up at me. "You don't talk much and sit all alone. Plus you've told me about your stage fright before. So hopefully he can help you get over that. Do you have any problems with that?"
I shook my head no staring at my feet.
The bell rang just in time to save my pitiful self. I had science next. In this class there were all the soccer players. Both skater girls and all the cheerleaders. There weren't any football players and Zayn wasn't in here either. I took my normal seat which normally I sit alone but today Harry came over to me and sat down. Taylor didn't look happy about this. She got over it quickly by pulling Selena next to her.
"You don't mind if I sit here do you?" He ask with a sweet smile.
I shook my head no.
"Do you ever talk?" He frowned.
I smiled and shook my head no.
This class went by rather fast. Harry talked most of it trying to get a single word out of me. It didn't work though. I haven't spoken in a few years. I don't even remember what my voice sounds like.
I walked to lunch as quiet as possible.
"Kenzie!" I heard Paige yell.
I turned to see my red headed friend waving at me. I smiled and walked over to her. She pulled me down next to her. I leaned my head on her shoulder and closed my eyes. The day was about over meaning I would be going home to the hell hole. I felt a trickle flow down my cheek.
"Ken..." Paige patted my back. "Some day life will get bettter...I promise."
Paige was the only one who knew what my father does to me. She witnessed it one night. My father was so drunk he didn't even notice her in the tree outside my bedroom. Hit after hit I screamed. After he left my room she quickly came inside to my aid. Tears fell from her eyes seeing me in that position.
"I hear you're partners with Eleanor and Harry in English.." She said looking at me.
"And in Choir Liam is suppose to help you with your song.."
I nod again.
She sighed and turned back to her food. I knew she wanted to hear me talk again. I sat up straight and stared at the table.
"Hey Kenzie." I looked up to see Eleanor. "I was thinking we could start on our project at my house tonight. Is that fine with you?"
"Good. I'll wait by my locker after school for you." She smiled then walked back to her table.
