We had finally arrived. After hours of driving and mindless chit chat with my father we had at last arrived to our new home town Allentown, Georgia. And i am not joking when i tell you that this was a very small town. It had a shocking population of 282 people. Well, 284 now. Im sure to have loads of fun here! (Note the sarcasm). I looked out the window watching as we passed all of the homes. My eyes landed on a big building and as we reached it i finally saw what it was. A high school. I read the sign as we drove by it, "Austin High School: Home of the Panthers". (A/N: Not an actual high school in Allentown). That bland, boring building was where i was going to spend the next two years. I groaned as a though about actually attending school tomorrow. It always sucked to be the new kid, and honestly i never knew what it was like to be the new kid. I had lived in the same house since i was born, gone to school with the same kids every year. Everything about this move was so different for me. I sighed before turning to speak to my dad.
"Im having second thoughts about this". He turned to look at me briefly before turning back to face the road. "Don't. This is good for us. We've discussed this countless times already. Think of the good things that can come from this."
" What good things!" i cried out. "The only good thing that can come out of this is that-" I stopped suddenly, a group of guys catching my eye. They were three of them sitting on the front steps of a house. From what i could see they were not that bad looking. Maybe things won't be as bad as i thought anymore. I was mesmerized by their...beauty. I didn't know how else to describe them. They were perfect, as if they had been made from the gods themselves. I had zoned out, shamelessly staring at them until my father waved his hand in front of my face bringing me back to reality. "Emily what's wrong?" he asked, concern etched on his face. I blinked a few times before answering."Uh.. nothing".
He looked at me a bit longer until he nodded his head once and looked away again. I could feel my face start to heat up at what i had just done. I can't believe i had practically drooled while checking out those guys. What was wrong with me!? I took a quick peek from the mirror to see if the guys were still there and to my surprise they had risen from their spots and were now standing on the sidewalk, watching us drive away. I locked eyes with the one in the middle and once again my face start to heat up again as i started to blush. Curse my light skin tone! A smirk appeared on his face as if knowing the effect he had on me and i quickly looked away not bothering to look back again.
The house was huge! I stared in awe as my father pulled into the driveway. It was a beautiful two story house with a huge tree on the right side of the home. I slowly got out of the car and approached the house with precaution, not wanting it to suddenly disappear.
"Lovely isn't it?"
"Amazing" I said still gazing at the house in front of me.
"Well, we should start unpacking" my dad said while picking up boxes from the car and walking towards the house. I quickly grabbed my bags and followed after him. The house was magnificent from the inside. It was already furnished and i turned towards my dad in confusion. "I hired someone to come and fix it up so all we could do was come here and settle in" he explained. "I hope you like it".
"Yeah its great." i said. The living room held a set of cream colored sofas, a coffee table in the middle, a television and a chimney. Everything was pretty much set. The house looked as if someone had been living in it already. "Im going to go unpack my clothes then" i said while motioning to the staircase. "Sure honey" said my dad while bending down to pick up a box with some books before placing them in the bookshelf in front of him.
I walked up the stairs, opening the first door on the left. I instantly noticed the big tree from the window and set my things down inside the room. I looked around as to what would be my new sanctuary. I was a bit apprehensive as to what my room would have looked like considering someone else had already furnished it, but to my surprise i instantly fell in love with it. There was a queen size bed and on either side of it was a small table. Across from it was a dresser with a television hanging above it. There was two bean bag chairs and a desk set up next to the window overlooking the tree. Finally there were two white doors adjacent to each other. Opening one of them i discovered a huge walk in closet. Oh, the shoes and clothes i would fill this with! Closing the door i opened the next one and came face to face with a bathroom. My own bathroom! I couldn't believe it. I felt like a kid in a candy store.
After unpacking all my clothes I went downstairs to find my dad sitting on the couch watching television. I guess he finished unpacking already. I cleared my throat slightly to get his attention and he instantly looked up at me. "Hey, you finished unpacking?" he asked.
"Yeah i did" I sat down next to him and stared mindlessly at the television. After a few minutes i finally decided to go up to bed. I stood up and faced my dad." Well I'm going to bed already. Got to go to school tomorrow" My father nodded before kissing my cheek and saying goodnight. Walking up the stairs and into my bedroom i couldn't help but feel extremely nervous about tomorrow. As i got ready for bed i prayed that everything would go smoothly tomorrow, but knowing my luck everything was sure to be a disaster.
