Seventeen year old Emily Walter's life was a complete and utter disaster. Years after her mother passes away her father decides to move them to a little town called Allentown, Georgia to escape the past that their current home has. Will this move be good for them or will it just bring her more trouble than what she already has to deal with?

7. A Date?

I was currently walking around town with my father in hopes of familiarizing ourselves with our new home. We now knew were the supermarket, movie theater, police station and many more places were. We passed a few bars and clubs and my father joked about all the fun times I would spend in one of them. I was surprised he had said that in the first place. Ever since my mother's death, my father had been extremely protective of me and rarely let me go out. Not that it was a problem. Back then I was either too depressed to go out or too tired. I didn't want to think too much of my father's joke and continued walking around aimlessly.

"Are you sure you aren't embarrassed to be walking around with your old man?" my father asked for the hundredth time. I rolled my eyes before answering him.

"Yes dad I'm sure. Stop asking"

"All right. I'm just saying. You know, I feel like you feel forced to spend time with me because of... you know"

"Of course not dad. I love spending time with you. I don't feel that way at all. I want to spend as much time together because who knows when it may be the last" I said looking up at him.

"Oh sweetie" said my dad pulling me in for a hug."Your mother would be so proud of you" he murmured into my hair.

"Thanks dad. That means a lot". I said smiling up at him. We continued walking when I heard my name being yelled.

"Emily! Emily over here!" I turned and looked around trying to find who it was that was screaming my name. I saw a flash of black hair and someone waving their hands back and forth frantically still screaming my name. Realization soon dawned on me as I realized it was Victoria trying to catch my attention.

"Hey" I said walking up to her.

"HI. What are you doing here?" she asked.

"Oh just walking around, getting to know my way around."

"Well I could show you around some more if you'd like"

"Oh well, you see I'm here with-" I was cut off by my father.

"No go ahead. I'm getting tired anyways. I'm just going to head home already" he said kissing my head and walking away. He didn't even wait for me to say anything. He just left!

"Come on,let's go to the mall" Victoria said as she pulled me towards a black car. We got in and she started driving towards the mall.

Minutes later she pulled up to a huge building with a whole parking lot filled with cars. For a small town it certainly looked big when put together. It looked like the whole town was here. We walked in and I was instantly dragged through different stores buying clothes and records of our favorite artists. We were currently sitting at a table int he food court.

"I'm going to get a slice of pizza. You want one?" Victoria asked me standing up.

"Yeah sure"

"I'l be back" she said walking away. I watched as she walked away before taking out my phone and scrolling thorough my news feed.

"Fancy seeing you here"

I turned to see who was talking to me and saw Brian smiling down at me.

"Can I sit?" he asked motioning towards the chair across from me.

"Yeah sure"

"This must be fate" he said. "You know what this means right?"

I looked at him curiously waiting for him to explain. He smirked before answering.

"Were going to get together one of these days"

I started at him wide eyed not knowing what to say. What did that mean? Did he want to get together some day at some point? No that can't be. I looked up at him and started him straight in the eye.

"Yeah well I don't think that you're going to be that lucky" I said while giving him a smirk of my own. He chuckled while shaking his head.

"Yeah right. Just admit it, you want me, you can't resist me. Don't you think I don't notice they way you get nervous every time I'm around you. Or how you blush constantly. I'm starting to think that red is the color of your face."

I gaped at him not knowing what to say. The nerve of this guy! "Oh please there are way better guy's out there. Trust me, you are nothing compared to other guy's that I have seen."I said while raising slightly from my chair and leaning towards him narrowing my eyes at him. Lies, Lies, Lies. He was so much better than any other guy that I have met or dated.

"Oh really" he said leaning towards me slightly smirking. "Why don't I believe you Emily?"

"Maybe because you have an ego the size of Texas and you think that every girl should fall at your feet and worship the ground you walk on and I refuse to be one of those girls" I said getting slightly angry.

"So you're saying that you won't react to me like every other girl out there?"

"Yes that's exactly what I'm saying"

"Really Emily?" he said while raising his eyebrow. I hadn't even noticed that we were only a few inches away. We both had moved across the table and we were now leaning across from it facing each other. From this up close I could see his features clearly. His blue/gray eyes, straight nose, his cheekbones, his chiseled features. He was so perfect.

"Emily" he breathed out. His warm face fanning my breath with every exhale. My eyes wandered down to his lips while I unconsciously licked mine making them moist.

"Yes?" I whispered.

"I want to kiss you".

I gulped and met his eyes. They were a shade darker than usual staring straight into my eyes. It felt like he could see straight into my soul. It terrified me and excited me at the same time. I couldn't look away. I felt him lean closer until we were a centimeter away. I closed my eyes waiting to feel him lips on mine. I could feel his breath mingle with mine and a knot twisted in my stomach in anticipation. So close...

My eyes snapped open and my head jerked to the side and saw Victoria standing there. It was pretty comical. She had a plate in each hand holding a slice of pizza while she stared at us wide eyed, jaw slacked. It looked like she was a cartoon character. Her eyes seemed as if they were about to pop out of her head.

"Uh hi" said Brian as he leaned back in his chair scratching the back of his head.

" were... I saw" Victoria babbled pointing her finger between Brian and myself.

"It's not what you think" I said waving my hands my hands side to side in front of me.

"You were going to kiss!" she screamed earning a few annoyed looks from people around us.

"we were not!" I argued

"Sure, whatever you say" she said. "I'll be over there meanwhile" she said pointing to an empty table.

I watched as she walked away and sat down facing away from us. I looked back to Brian to find him stifling a laugh with the back of his hand.

"It's not funny!" I yelled at him.

"You're right. Its hilarious!" he said finally bursting into laughter. I glared at him and waited until he calmed down before he spoke.

"It looks like you are like every other girl that can't resist me" he said, a hint of a smile still playing on his lips.

"I am not" I said trough gritted teeth. He was really getting on my nerves.

"Oh yeah prove it" he said.

"Go on a date with me. If you can resist me the whole time were out then you win. I'll admit that I was wrong and that you are not like every girl".

I glared at him not knowing what to say. Was he serious? He can't be serious. Well there's nothing to lose. Plus it's a chance to prove him wrong. Bruise his ego. Hmm tempting.

"Fine I'll do it"

Hey guys. So sorry I haven't updated. I know I said I would update during Christmas break but all I ended up doing was falling asleep. And since school started I haven't had the time, but I hope to be able to update more often and I'm so sorry for the wait (to those who were actually waiting). I hope this chapter makes up for it :) I know it's short but bear with me.
