The heartthrob that doesn't know he's a heartthrob. The guy that never leaves the fine arts hall. The christian that goes to church three times a week. The senior with the burning blue eyes. He's a virgin that has me under a spell. And while I'm busy trying to steal his virginity, he's stealing my heart.
He's Bradley.

22. Twenty Two

Cry. Cry cry cry. It's all I can do.

It's morning, and I'd say there was a good three hours before Aunt Macy tapped on my door. "Lila, you haven't been home in two-" she saw me slumped over the frame of my bed, heaving for air. After she cut her words off, she fell to her knees in front of me. I closed my mouth the stop the drool from slipping out. "Honey whats wrong?" she knew that it was bad because I hadn't cried like that since my mother left. Gasping and whimpering to no end. "Talk to me." she pleaded. A wail escaped from me as I remembered Bradley saying those words to me not even twenty four hours ago. To tell me about his dad, what he had said to me.

I find it funny that you think that you're good enough for my son.

The words had been seeping into my mind, they flashed like sirens

Newsflash, sweetheart.

"Lila." she was desperate, and I saw her check my curled up body for wounds. Her eyes were big and sad. There was a glaze over my vision, and I could barely see the daisies on her scrubs. When she took my face, I closed my eyes and let her wipe the tears on my cheeks. "Please tell me what's wrong, baby." she sighed, and I didn't have to open my eyes to know that there was hurt on her face.

I sniffed hard before choking out my first word to her. "Richard."

She let go of my face and her expression was different. It went from desperate to stern in a matter of a second. "What about Richard?" My eyes were open by now, but they still felt closed because of the swelling.

"He's he's he's." I was heaving and almost drooling because I couldn't say it. She was gonna be heart broken, and my body couldn't function enough to spit it out. But then I did. "He's Bradley's dad."

It didn't come out the way I wanted it to. I should've said he's married just to rip the bandage off. "Really?" she said, and it didn't sound like she was asking a question. "Why are you crying like this?" she leaned forward to hold me, and chuckled like if I was ridiculous.

"He's married."

She froze, and she didn't laugh anymore.

"And they don't know about you . All they know is that he's never home." She pulled away without looking at me, and stands up. I'm still balling, only because I can't help it. "I'm sorry Aunt Macy."

"Why wouldn't you tell me?" she finally looked at me. "Why wouldn't you tell me this before I fell in love with the man?" She's yelling, something she doesn't do often. Even though I was shocked at what she said, I still responded to her.

"I don't know I just didn't want you to get hurt."

"Well how hurt do you think I am now?" she crossed her arms and pursed her lips. "Opposed to how hurt I would've been when I first brought him here." She had a point. If I would have told her from the beginning, when she wasn't in love with him, it wouldn't have affected her as much.

She stormed away before I could say anything, so I followed. I watched her in the kitchen while she took deep breaths. "Aunt-'"

"Don't." she clenched her fist and slammed it on to counter a second later. The rumble made me jump. I didn't notice that I'd closed my eyes until I opened them, and she was going for the door. I leaped at her, and followed again. I wiped the rest of the tears from my eyes and trudged harder as she scurried to her car. The hurry she was in made me very nervous. I wondered if she'd ever been to his house, and if that's where she was going. She should be at work right now, but I have a strong feeling that she won't be going in any time soon. She knows where he lives because she's dropped me off at Brad's house before.

I clicked my seat belt on and she didn't. She just drove.

"Think about what your doing." I told her and she ignored me. She pulled into the driveway of his house and I can't manage to unclench my fists. She ran up to the door and started ringing the doorbell, and I felt like screaming. If I said her name, she'd probably ignore me so I didn't say anything. Bradley opened the door, his eyes looked at mine first, then he saw my aunt's wild determination. She pushed him aside and went in. I followed, and so did Brad. She began yelling before she even reached him in the kitchen. "Who do you think you are?!" Shelly was standing behind Richard in the kitchen, and her face looked hurt. "You have issues." Macy started crying and couldn't even get full words out. "How many women do you have? Sorry to tell you, Ma'am," she said, referring to Shelly. "but you're husband is having a well played affair." she went up to him with tears in her eyes. "You spent months fooling me. Do you know how stupid I feel? You let me fall for you, you hid all of this from me. I thought you were so genuine and honest. You have a family, Richard. A wife." All of a sudden she looked like she snapped out of her zone, and she started shaking her head. "I'm so sorry." she looked at his wife when she said it. And she starts to walk out but I didn't follow this time. The whole thing was so quick and everybody was frozen. I stared at my boyfriend, who I'd just made love to less than twenty four hours ago. I loved him and now it's all ruined.

"Did you know about this?" he asked. It was awkward because his parents were there, but I think they were too stunned to be listening. I nod, guilty and watched while his jaw clenched. I tried to take his hand but he wouldn't let me. He closed his eyes, and I know he was waiting for me to leave, so I did.

I ruined everything.
