How It All Began

Lauren was just a normal girl who lived in a normal city. Then, one day her mom entered her into this website contest to get One Direction tickets in Los Angeles.
I know what you are thinking.
"UGH, really another one of these stories!" But I am asking if you could please read it and give me feedback? No one ever said she won them. No ever said she lost them.

Chapter 1- The Contest

"Wait, Mom," I asked, "What's this website?"

Walking past my mother, I couldn't help but notice the website she was glancing at on her computer.

My mother, who is forty years old, five foot two, and still looking like she is thirty-two with her brown, "puffy" hair and a personality combined with a crazy, hyper puppy and a serious, strict teacher who apparently is a "wiz" on figuring things out on the web.

That is who my mom is. She is crazy and hyper at times, but still has her serious moments. Also, she is excellent with keeping up with latest "gossip" and news. She may sound like she is a crazy, young mom who has no life but like I said before that is not the case.

My mother replied to my pervious statement, "Oh it's this website that you can win prizes if you enter in your email and figure out what the secret code is."

I looked at her with disbelief in my eyes. Seriously? She just found a random website on the internet to win prizes?

"Where do you find these websites and contests," I questioned, "Is this what you do in your spare time while I'm at school, that is find websites where you can win stuff?"

My mom is unbelievable. She can do anything and everything whenever she wants. If it's not her way she will find a solution to make it her way.

She is a stay home mom which I really like because then she can do all these activities for my sisters and I, such as volunteer for school or donate for a charity.

Also, since she has a lot of free time, she is really fun and creative for doing projects such as wrapping presents.

And she doesn't just wrap a present and call it a day. She will find a million different colors of ribbons and bows and many other "crafty" stuff to put on, in, around the gift. You name it.

"Honey, you know I will find a contest to enter in to win something you love." She replied to my previous question.

"Ok mom, you can try to win something for me like we actually HAVE A CHANCE." I exclaimed.

She looked at me and smiled like a little two year old who just got a new toy for Christmas. Actually, sometimes I think she is a two year old because she acts so crazy.

My mom started to explain to me how this website worked exactly.

"Lauren, not a lot of people know about this website," she replied, "Do you see this "views" button?"

"Ya," I replied looking at the "views" button at the bottom of the page, indicating how many people looked at that particular item.

"See only two people looked at this lovely bottle of shampoos and conditioners," she said with sarcasm.

I replied, rolling my eyes, "Wow mom."

Where was this conversation even going? I just came into the kitchen for a snack and happen to come upon this. Why do I even bother asking?

"Also, dear mother what other types of prizes do they have here?" I added.

She just looked at me and started laughing.

"Ok, well so they have guitars that famous people signed such as Joe Jonas," she started, "Or there is a car or a bicycle..." She slightly paused.

My mom looked over at me and then said, "Ok let me prepare for the screaming."

It took me a moment to process what she saying.

"WAIT WHAT," I exclaimed, "NO IT CAN'T BE!"

My mom just nodded her head then clicked on the tab "One Direction L.A. Tickets."

I then started screaming and running around the house like there was a serial killer on the loose. I have had an obsession over the band, One Direction ever since I heard "What Makes You Beautiful" in the car on my way home from my tennis practice.

*Flashback* *Four Years Previous*

It all started on a sunny August afternoon right before the start of my Eighth grade year in middle school.

I was driving back from my tennis lesson with my dad in his red truck when I heard a song come on.

"You're insecure. Don't know what for."

"Hey, Dad, do you what song this is." I questioned like he would know?

"Excuse me, you are asking me if I know who sings this," he sarcastically replied, "I thought you would know since you are so "techy" with your cell phone."

I looked down at my iPhone 4S which I got for Christmas because my parents thought I was responsible unlike my sisters. Which is another story for a different day. Suddenly, I got an idea.

"Wait a minute," I exclaimed, "I got this app called "Shazam" where I can figure out who sings this."

My dad just looked at me and rolled his eyes like he was saying "told you so."

I pushed the button and waited until the information came up.

"What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction. One Direction. AWWWW that's a cute name. Apparently, one of band member, Harry Styles thought of the name.

I continuously kept searching through all the information until I found something that caught my attention.

"OH MY GOSH, DAD," I yelled, "THEY ALL ARE AROUND MY AGE!"

I was shocked. I was only in the Eighth grade and these five boys already had a big chance for a singing career and they were only in my grade to the most two years away from me.

"OK, LAUREN, DO WE HAVE TO YELL," my dad screamed back.

Then we both started laughing while listening to One Direction.

As the year went on, and I became closer to getting into high school, I eventually learned the One Direction song and even downloaded their album. I started to become more and more obsessed I should say.

I got all these books about their lives before they went on the show, The X-Factor, individually and then was later created as a band by Simon Cowell.

So to this day my liking of One Direction has grown more and more.

*End of Flashback*

After I settled down and stopped running around and screaming like a psycho, I said to my mom, "So, ya I know this is amazing and everything, but do you really think we actually have a chance of winning this?"

"Well you never know," she replied, "Not a lot of people view this website as I showed you before."

"Well, how do you figure out if you've won?"I questioned.

She started clicking around on the site to see if there was any information on it.

"I think you get an e-mail," she simply stated.

Like I actually had a chance. I mean who wins One Direction tickets to L.A. Ya that's right not a lot of people.

My mom said, "The contest ends in a month."

I mutter under my breath "ok sure" before I went upstairs to go do something else, completely not thinking of the contest anymore.
