I Try

8. Chapter Seven

The snow was crazy.

A big blizzard.

By noon December 14th, ten days until Christmas Eve, we were absolutely snowed in. It's going to take forever for anyone to plow through all this. I thought, eyeing the snow outside. It was well on its way to my bedroom window . . . on the second floor.

Watching the snow fall and fall, I began to feel helpless. We're never going to get out of this! We're trapped!

"Madison, where's your mother?" Dad asked, poking his head in my room as I stared at the falling snow outside. It looked like we were in a snow globe.

"I don't know. She went out on business or something last night." I can't believe I'm covering for her.

Dad's face immediately entered a mold of concern. "Did she take the twins? They're not in their room."

"I don't know. She said she wouldn't, but she might have changed her mind. They are the favorites, after all." I replied smoothly.

"Oh, well . . . no use worrying about it now. We couldn't get out the door if we wanted to, the snow is so high." Dad sighed. "It's Monday, and you have the day off. Do you want to do something together? Watch a movie or something?"

"Depends. What movie?"

His face brightened up at the idea of spending time with his daughter, who had been slowly locking herself away. I felt a pang of guilt. Maybe he does care. I should watch a movie with him.

"I was thinking Jurassic Park or Beetlejuice." he named off my two favorite movies.

"How about both?"

"Works for me."
