7. Suspicious Time

I woke up to find myself in my own bed with my ballerina shoes thrown on the floor and a thin sheet laid on top of me. I tried to recall everything and when I did I wish I hadn’t. I went to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, washed my face, and changed my clothes then rushed downstairs to the kitchen. Phewww, my parents were already out for work which means I got more time to make up lies and excuses in case they have noticed my disappearance yesterday, which I doubt they did. Besides, I didn’t think I can talk to them normally after all that I’ve heard from Andrew. Was what he said really true? Could it be? I am certain it is but I don’t want it to be true. Not because he has demon blood in him but because it means that all my life has been a lie and that means I don’t even know myself. I wondered what my parents hid from me as well.

I decided to go check out the library for anything about dream weaving. But I’m a naturally lazy person and I remembered that Kendra can dream weave. Kendra can visit people in their dreams! Ok twist of plans, I decided to call Kendra. I was dialing her number when suddenly the door slams in my face and I see Kendra barge in furiously.

“Were the hell did you go yesterday? Do you have any idea how worried I was about you? I went to buy us some drinks then came back to find that you had disappeared. You’ve got one minute to explain yourself.” She roared.

“I.. listen Kendra it’s nothing personal. You see a guy. He took me. The one who was chosen for me. Oh gosh! Can we sit?”

“Long story?”

“Yeah you could say that.”

And so we sat on the wooden kitchen stools and I told her everything as she munched down on a green apple that was sitting on the brightly lit counter. When I was finished she was stunned then insisted that I should see him again. I think she liked him more than I did. She offered to teach me all about dreams and all of that amazing shit.

We went to my room where she took a book out of her ragged brown backpack then tossed it across the room. The book was full of words and illustrations, it’s like I’ve opened a door to a new universe. She spent hours trying to explain to me how I should design the place, setting, and time of the dream depending on the person’s inner thoughts and background. She also explained to me how I could incept thoughts into someone’s mind through their dreams, even how to travel from one dream to another. Not only that, but also she warned me not to try to control the events of the dreams but go with the flow and understand what a person desires before acting. But words meant nothing at that point because none of us were sure if I was actually able to do it or not. One mistake can cause a person to go insane and unauthorized Speroes who try to manipulate people’s dreams will be questioned by the queen herself! It was all risky but it’s not like I had anything to lose.

“Kendra I think you should hide the book and leave. My parents will be here any minute.”

“Oh, too bad we were only getting started.”

“If I could stop time or banish my parents from existence I wouldn’t give it a second thought, trust me.”

She smirked at me then went down the stairs and opened the door.

And that’s when it all happened. We both freaked out when we looked out of the door to find the sun shining in our faces.

“The sun should have set by now, how is it even possible?” Amber did you-

“Oh lord! Did I what? Stop time? I don’t even know because I don’t know what I can do! You know what he told me..” I said to her as I looked out of the door as well.

“On the bright side, we can still go shopping or something.”

“Seriously? That’s what you’re thinking about at this particular moment?”

“You know what? Stay here and figure this thing out then call me when you do alright? And whatever you do,” she said pointing her little skinny finger at me and glaring furiously, “DO NOT TRY TO VISIT HIM IN HIS DREAMS TONIGHT! You’re not ready and I don’t want to take the blame, nothing personal okay? Now bye because I’ve got to get a new jumpsuit.” She continued as she slammed the wooden door like she always does. Classy.
